Lin Guang spent time with Inori Yuzuriha, Shinobu Kocho, and the others after clearing the Guilty Crown world, then spoke privately with Maid Tsunomori about his extraordinary powers. He left with Inori Yuzuriha, while Shinobu Kocho was asked to see Maid Tsunomori and Arisa Shūkyōin off the next day.
Lin Guang brought Inori Yuzuriha to meet Gai Tsutsugami, hoping to resolve Mana Ouma’s threat before he had to leave the world. When Mana’s will awakened, Lin Guang carried her to the building’s highest floor, where Gai demanded that he return her.
Lin Guang absorbed and purified the Apocalypse Virus throughout Japan, saving the infected and weakening Gai Tsutsugami and Mana Ouma. With Mana dormant and Inori exhausted, Gai accepted that the crisis was over and entrusted Inori to Lin Guang as his body began to break down.
Lin Guang finished absorbing the Apocalypse Virus and left the collapsing building with Inori Yuzuriha as Japan began recovering. After accepting Arisa Shūkyōin as a subordinate and saying farewell to his friends, he departed for another world.
Lin Guang considered how to build his standing in Konoha so he could unseal his powers, then opened treasure chests from his previous worlds and received powerful rewards. The system sealed all the new items, and Lin Guang left his room in frustration just as Naruto returned.
Lin Guang and Naruto shared ramen before taking the genin exam, where Lin Guang passed and Naruto failed the Clone Technique. That night, after Naruto stole the Scroll of Seals, Lin Guang overheard ninja discussing his capture and set out to find him before Naruto and Iruka were harmed.
Lin Guang tracked Naruto to the grove and arrived as Mizuki attacked Iruka and revealed Naruto’s identity as the Nine-Tails Demon Fox. Lin Guang knocked aside Mizuki’s shuriken and prepared to confront him, while Mizuki dismissed their chances of winning.
Lin Guang and Iruka fought Mizuki after Naruto was shaken by Mizuki’s taunts. They defeated him before the patrol arrived, and Lin Guang challenged Mizuki’s excuses for betraying Konoha.
After Mizuki was arrested for manipulating Naruto into stealing the Scroll of Seals, the Third Hokage sent Iruka and Lin Guang to find Naruto and retrieve it. They found Naruto with the scroll, confirmed he had passed the genin exam, and set off to return the scroll to the Hokage Building.
After passing the Genin exam, Lin Guang unlocked his Ice-Ice Fruit Ability and was summoned to meet the Third. He arrived at the Third’s office, unsure what the Hokage wanted.
Lin Guang met the Third Hokage, who praised his ability and made him his disciple. Lin Guang went with Asuma Sarutobi toward the Sarutobi home, where he would begin learning ninjutsu fundamentals.
Hiruzen Sarutobi brought Lin Guang to the Sarutobi Clan compound, where Asuma taught him the basics of ninjutsu and tested his taijutsu. Lin Guang lost their sparring match but impressed Asuma and Hiruzen with his speed and clever use of the Clone Technique.
Hiruzen Sarutobi tested Lin Guang’s chakra natures and began teaching him ninjutsu, discovering that Lin Guang possessed water, wind, and ice abilities. Lin Guang mastered the Water Dragon Bullet Technique with astonishing power, and Hiruzen prepared to teach him a difficult Wind Release technique.
Hiruzen Sarutobi taught Lin Guang Wind Release: Vacuum Wave, then advised him to focus on chakra control before learning more ninjutsu. Lin Guang agreed to complete the three control exercises within three days, and Hiruzen promised to teach him more afterward.
Lin Guang used the Ice-Ice Fruit to master tree-climbing chakra control in minutes, impressing Hiruzen Sarutobi. Hiruzen planned to assign him to the ANBU, while Lin Guang considered the risks of eventually encountering Danzo.
Lin Guang mistook Hiruzen Sarutobi and Kakashi Hatake for burglars while they inspected Naruto's living conditions. Hiruzen took Lin Guang to join the ANBU, where Lin Guang was appointed squad leader and chose his teammates.
Lin Guang challenged his new ANBU teammates Satō Maji and Hyūga Jō to establish his authority as their captain. He defeated them with a Water Dragon Bullet Technique, leaving Satō Maji vomiting water and Hyūga Jō exhausted.
Lin Guang led Hyūga Jō and Satō Maji through their first squad outing, earning their surrender in a spar and taking them to Ichiraku Ramen. After proving the rookie squad’s strength to the Bird Mask captain, Lin Guang accepted a C-rank mission to deal with bandits near a settlement south of the village.
Lin Guang led Satō Maji and Hyūga Jō on an ANBU mission to eliminate bandits occupying Xiaojing Village. After discovering wounded villagers, captive prisoners, and disguised combatants, the team entered the village undercover to reach the captives and deal with their guards.
Lin Guang, Hyūga Jō, and Satō Maji infiltrated the bandits’ village, rescued the captives, and prepared to capture the bandit chief. They reached the chief’s guarded house and tried to frighten the guards into alerting him.
Lin Guang and his teammates infiltrated the bandit hideout and confronted the bandit leader. Hyūga Jō was forced outside by the leader’s Water Release, and the battle continued as Satō Maji’s sword broke the leader’s kunai.
Lin Guang and his teammates fought twenty bandits after the leader called for reinforcements. Lin Guang killed the leader with his Wind Release, and Satō Maji and Hyūga Jō defeated the rest, though a few bandits escaped.
After Lin Guang and his companions killed the fleeing bandits, a powerful ninja destroyed Xiaojing Village with a massive water-release technique. As Lin Guang, Satō Maji, and Hyūga Jō fled, Genma Shiranui intervened, but the masked ninja confronted him and blocked their way.
Genma Shiranui defeated the Monkey Masked Man before he could complete his Water Release, then sent Lin Guang and his teammates back to Konoha. The Monkey Masked Man reflected on the Land of Rivers’ helpless position between the great nations.
Lin Guang’s squad completed its first ANBU mission, and he shared the generous payment evenly with Satō Maji and Hyūga Jō before granting them three days off. Hiruzen Sarutobi planned to send the squad back to the Land of Rivers, while Lin Guang suspected the mission’s circumstances concealed a deeper purpose.
