Gon, however, looked at the scene before him calmly and murmured, "It's almost like they're storing food."
At that, Kite lowered his head in thought for a moment before saying, "That's a shrike's habit. They like to impale their food on trees."
Just as Kite was about to explain further, a discordant voice suddenly rang out. "Hey! Who gave you permission to come here?"
Everyone turned toward the voice, only to see a rabbit-shaped person standing before them.
Gon and Killua couldn't help looking surprised. Perhaps this was their first time seeing a true Chimera Ant.
Cordis pointed at the Chimera Ant nearby and asked incredulously, "That's one of those ants? Why does it have a rabbit's face?"
But on second thought, if that fellow who looked like a spider could be called a Chimera Ant, then an ant that looked like a rabbit didn't seem so unreasonable.
At Cordis's remark, the rabbit shot him a vicious glare with his narrow, murderous eyes.
Then he quickly turned toward Gon and Killua, who stood in front of the three trees. Veins bulged at his temples in anger as he slowly raised a hand and pointed at the three beasts of burden impaled on the trees.
He glared fiercely at Gon and Killua. "Those are mine! Who told you to touch them?"
Puzzled, Cordis murmured, "How unreasonable. Nobody touched them."
As luck would have it, the rabbit heard him. He instantly turned his anger on Cordis and snapped, "Shut up! You just keep talking! I've had enough of you!"
Without another word, he charged at Cordis.
Watching the rabbit rush toward him, Cordis shrugged helplessly and reluctantly tucked his hands behind his back. Then he turned to Kite beside him and asked,
"Are all these Chimera Ants this unreasonable?"
Kite said nothing.
