Background / History
Origin and Attack on A City
Vaccine Man understands himself to have been born from the Earth's will with a mission to exterminate humanity. His knowledge beyond that purpose is limited; he treats “monster” as a human classification rather than his true identity 30 33.
His attack on A City causes widespread explosions and destroys large stretches of buildings. Bai Ye arrives before Saitama and intercepts his light orbs with Kamui portals. Vaccine Man dodges an initial kunai but is wounded by Bai Ye's subsequent Flying Thunder God Slash 21 22.
After transforming into a giant, Vaccine Man attempts to tear Bai Ye apart with his claws. Bai Ye's intangibility makes the attack ineffective, and a Kamui-enhanced Red Night Blade bypasses Vaccine Man's defenses and severs his head. Vaccine Man survives and attempts another energy attack before Bai Ye transfers him into the Kamui Dimension 22.
Subjugation and Life in Z City
Bai Ye places Vaccine Man under genjutsu after defeating him. The technique preserves Vaccine Man's consciousness but forces absolute obedience. Initially unaware of the control, he repeatedly tries and fails to attack Bai Ye 22 23.
When reporters and heroes mistakenly credit Saitama with the victory, Bai Ye briefly produces Vaccine Man's severed head and demonstrates that the monster obeys his commands. The Hero Association eventually credits both heroes, promoting Bai Ye to B-Class rank five and Saitama to S-Class rank fifteen 23 25.
Vaccine Man regenerates his body and becomes a regular gaming opponent for Saitama. Bai Ye permits him to wander within Z City's deserted district and assigns him a vacant apartment in their building 23 25 28.
Mosquito Girl Incident
Vaccine Man senses Mosquito Girl's approaching swarm and discovers that he can summon his light orbs against nonhuman targets. He remains within No Man's Land as ordered, rather than pursuing the swarm outside its boundaries 29 30.
Under Bai Ye's direction, he attacks the evolved Mosquito Girl at point-blank range, blasting her away and destroying much of the surrounding area. The system recognizes the victory as the work of Bai Ye's enforcer and awards Bai Ye points 30 31.
Still angry, Vaccine Man then prepares to attack Genos, whom he does not consider human. Bai Ye stops him with a slap and explicitly tells him that cyborgs count as humans too 31.
Games and the Monster Association
After repeated gaming defeats, Vaccine Man asks Bai Ye for money to buy a game for extra practice. Bai Ye gives him ten thousand yen and sends a Wood Clone to accompany him outside No Man's Land 40 41.
Phoenix Man later invites Vaccine Man to join the Monster Association. Vaccine Man reports the invitation to Bai Ye, who uses it to enter the organization in disguise. Following Bai Ye's instructions, Vaccine Man introduces him as a stronger monster and his boss. Phoenix Man escorts them to Gyoro Gyoro, allowing Bai Ye to photograph the interior before his identity is recognized 50.
Appearance
Vaccine Man's normal form is muscular and humanoid, with the narration comparing him to Demon King Piccolo 22.
- Menacing face: His expression and glare frighten Fubuki when he is irritated by a gaming losing streak 40.
- Human clothing: After becoming Bai Ye's subordinate, he wears human clothes, although Genos still immediately suspects he is a monster 31.
- Berserk form: An enormous body, a hideous head, and claws several meters long 22.
- Eyes: Normally pure white; briefly display blood-red Sharingan patterns when Bai Ye establishes genjutsu control 22.
Personality
Vaccine Man is openly contemptuous of humanity. He initially dismisses video games as idiotic, becomes offended at losing to a human, and refuses the suggestion that he take Genos as a disciple because of his prejudice against humans 25 32.
His pride makes him competitive and opportunistic. He actively learns game controls to overcome Saitama, celebrates his victories smugly, and exploits Saitama's distraction to land a winning combo 25 33.
His obedience does not erase his temper or original hostility. He complains about Bai Ye's restrictions and seeks to vent his frustration on available targets, yet responds meekly when corrected. He also shows unfamiliarity with ordinary human matters, including game prices and the purchasing power of yen 30 31 41.
Abilities & Skills
Light Orbs
Vaccine Man creates energy spheres capable of devastating large areas. Their connection to “God,” like Homeless Emperor's power, is presented as a suspicion rather than a confirmed origin 22.
- Launches multiple orbs in different directions while airborne 22.
- Can form and fire orbs from his mouth even after decapitation 22.
- Defeats evolved Mosquito Girl with a single point-blank sphere; the resulting blast also levels nearby buildings 31.
- Bai Ye's Kamui portals can intercept and transport the spheres before they explode in the city 22.
- The narration describes his spheres as more powerful than Homeless Emperor's 23.
Transformation and Physical Power
Vaccine Man's giant berserk form combines increased size, powerful claws, and substantial physical durability 22.
- Ordinary kunai lodge in his enlarged head without causing meaningful damage 22.
- His normal reaction speed lets him dodge a direct kunai throw, but not Bai Ye's unfamiliar teleportation-based follow-up 22.
- Neither his durability nor his size protects him from Kamui's spatial severing 22.
- The narration attributes multiple mutated forms to him, although the supplied encounter depicts only his normal and giant forms 23.
Regeneration and Survival
Vaccine Man remains conscious and dangerous after losing his head, then slowly regenerates a replacement body inside the Kamui Dimension 22 23.
- Retains energy attacks while reduced to a severed head 22.
- Regrows at least one hand before Bai Ye returns to check on him 23.
- Does not require the original body to begin regeneration 23.
Flight and Detection
- Floats in the air during his attack on A City and the confrontation with Mosquito Girl 22 30 31.
- Senses the approaching mosquito swarm while wandering through Z City's deserted district 29.
Gaming
Vaccine Man rapidly improves from an inexperienced button-masher into a competitive opponent for Saitama 25.
- Learns controls, execution, and game sense through repeated matches 25.
- Trades victories with Saitama rather than consistently dominating him 25.
- Takes advantage of distractions and seeks additional practice after losing streaks 33 40.
Genjutsu Restrictions
Bai Ye's control leaves Vaccine Man mentally aware but unable to disobey orders 23.
- Cannot harm Bai Ye and is initially prevented from attacking humans 23 30.
- Cannot leave No Man's Land without permission 25 30 41.
- Can attack nonhuman targets, but must also follow Bai Ye's prohibition against harming innocent people 30 31.
- Carries a Flying Thunder God Formula placed by Bai Ye, allowing Bai Ye to teleport directly to him 30.
Relationships
- Bai Ye — Master and controller. Calls Vaccine Man his slave, employs him as an enforcer, and regulates his movements and attacks 23 25 31 41.
- Saitama — Neighbor and regular gaming rival. Their closely matched games keep both invested in repeated challenges 25 28 33 39.
- Genos — Nearly attacks him after defeating Mosquito Girl. Genos subsequently mistakes Vaccine Man for Bai Ye's disciple, an interpretation Bai Ye explicitly rejects 31 32 33.
- Fubuki / Hellish Blizzard — Frightens her with his glare; his survival and meek request for money reveal how thoroughly Bai Ye controls the Dragon-level monster 40.
- Mosquito Girl — Defeated opponent. Vaccine Man overwhelms her evolved form with a point-blank light orb 31.
- Phoenix Man — Monster Association recruiter who brings Vaccine Man and the disguised Bai Ye into the organization's headquarters 50.
