What was blood? Worlds that developed along technological lines explained it like this: a flowing liquid composed of things such as hemoglobin.
In the many worlds of cultivation, however, a cultivator's blood did far more than sustain life and transport energy. Establishing ownership with a drop of blood was only the most basic application.
Digimon World was also a cultivation world, but it seemed to lack the very rule of blood. Or perhaps it did exist: the data energy that burst out when Digimon were injured was their blood. Yet this blood was no different from Digimon World's fundamental energy, and even Blood River Ancestor could do nothing with it. The Myotismon evolution, however, had come to this world with the dark invaders. A Myotismon born and raised here had only truly learned what blood was like after reaching the human world.
Human cultivators could always supplement their cultivation with treasures such as ginseng spirits and horse-shaped lingzhi. Although Digimon could gain tremendous power through evolution, Digimon World had no natural treasures at all. Only after Myotismon arrived in the human world did he discover that humans themselves were natural treasures for Digimon. Zheng Fan had gravely wounded him, yet merely drinking the blood of a few thousand mortals had restored him to his peak and even taken him a step further. Human cultivators at the same level would probably have to search places like the Nether Abyss or Thunder Prison to find spiritual medicines useful to them. Digimon truly were favored by heaven and earth.
The Blood Lance pinned Lilymon's stone form to the ground. Stone dust flew from the pierced spot, exposing tender pink skin. Countless bristles suddenly sprouted from that skin and wrapped around the Blood Lance. Lilymon was instinctively absorbing the lance of blood.
