Hange had a somewhat perverse look on her excited face, and Bai Yu noticed that even Annie, in her Titan form, looked a little frightened.
"Hange! Don't get so worked up!"
Bai Yu hurried forward and tried hard to pull her off, but she seemed to be clinging on tight.
"Can't you just have Eren give it a try when we get back?"
It took so much effort to pull Hange down that even Bai Yu was left panting. When had she gotten so strong?
He watched Hange, who had calmed down a little but was still staring at the Female Titan with sparkling eyes.
Bai Yu returned to the Female Titan's shoulder.
Seeing that everyone was ready, Erwin swept his gaze over the surrounding Survey Soldiers.
"Begin the operation! Our target is a 120-meter-class Abnormal Titan! Soldiers, move out!"
The Female Titan rose from her crouch and began running toward their distant destination.
On the way, Bai Yu still found it a little hard to believe.
"You can talk? Since when?"
"I could already do it before."
Annie's voice in her Female Titan form sounded somewhat heavy, as though she were suppressing something. As far as Bai Yu knew, only that monkey-like Beast Titan could speak.
"Then why didn't you say anything before?"
"You never asked."
That casual reply shut Bai Yu down completely. What he didn't know was that there was amusement in Annie's eyes as she looked at him, as though she found his loss of composure funny.
Bai Yu rubbed his chin.
"When you put it that way, it makes sense. Your Titan has lips and all the organs needed for speech, and you're intelligent. Thinking about it, it actually seems pretty reasonable."
Bai Yu murmured to himself, nodding slightly.
Annie said nothing and continued running
