The sparks inside the barrier faded completely. Not even a fragment of Sahaquiel remained.
"Riku? What are you doing here?" Zero asked in surprise as he looked at Geed, who had just arrived, having put his earlier questions out of his mind.
"Back in another universe, both Nebula House and I detected an enormous Belial Splinter signature coming from this Angel, so I came ahead."
Shinji said, "We meet again, Riku Asakura!"
After returning his greeting, Riku said to Zero with a hint of reproach, "Zero, you really scared me... How did you get possessed by Belial again?"
"Thank goodness you took back control..."
"We'll talk about that later. Did you take out the Angel in space? How is everyone?" Zero asked the questions that concerned him most.
Riku said heavily, "I didn't see any Angel in space... Glenfire and Mirror Knight must have taken it out..."
"But... they and this... Black King Joe were all badly damaged by the Angel we just defeated. I don't know how they're doing now..."
"Let's hurry and check on them..." With that, Geed and Zero vanished on the spot.
The Underground City was almost completely destroyed. The battle between several colossal beings had left it riddled with damage.
If Geed and Zero hadn't used a barrier together to contain the explosion, the underground portion of Tokyo-3 would probably have had to be abandoned outright.
The surface wasn't much better off. That enormous crater and the other destruction Sahaquiel had caused were enough to give the municipal authorities a headache...
Inside NERV headquarters, Asuka and Rei Ayanami regained consciousness.
Since it had all happened in an instant, their injuries weren't too serious. Once they were bandaged, they could move around.
"Where's that idiot?" Rather than asking about her own injuries or Unit-02, Asuka asked
