"Lina, we're here."
Inside the police station in Giantwood City, Kafka met Lina, who was being held there.
Stelle and March 7th had come with her, while Silver Wolf trailed behind, idly examining the station's layout.
After receiving word that Lina had been detained, they had quickly driven over.
Their loyal driver, Goff, was waiting in the car downstairs.
"S-sorry for troubling you, so late at night," Lina said guiltily.
"There's nothing to apologize for. Of course we'd come," Kafka said softly.
"You haven't, haven't told my dad, have you?" Lina asked nervously.
"No." Kafka nodded. "We understand. You asked the officer to contact us because you didn't want your father to know about this."
"My dad isn't in good health." Lina lowered her head. "I didn't want to upset him."
"You're a good daughter," Kafka said with feeling.
But Lina shook her head.
"I killed someone."
"The officer told me what you said in your statement. He tried to hurt you, so you took the knife and defended yourself." Kafka looked at Lina. "Were you hurt anywhere?"
"N-no." Lina shook her head. "My clothes were thick. He attacked me from behind, but the knife went into the edge of my clothes. When I turned around, it came loose. He tried to grab it, and I didn't want him coming near me, so I kept swinging the knife at him. But he charged at me. When I opened my eyes, he was already dead."
"That's what the officer told me, too. Both accounts match, so it seems that's what really happened." Kafka nodded. "But there were no witnesses, and one of the two people involved is dead. There's no way to verify what you said."
