Background / History
Silver Wolf joined the Stellaron Hunters through Elio’s personal invitation. Sam and Blade joined before her. When Kafka arrived on Jarilo-VI to adopt Chu Mu, Silver Wolf was still a newcomer whose introductory mission required obtaining a Stellaron 28 50 485.
She hoped completing that mission would put her on equal footing with Kafka and end the errands Kafka assigned her. Although she detected Jarilo-VI’s Stellaron, Kafka prohibited its collection because Elio’s script had another purpose for it. Their subsequent journey aboard an auxiliary ship without a Warp Engine delayed her mission further 28 51.
| Membership stage | Chapter | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Probationary recruit | 28 50 | Supports Kafka’s adoption mission while seeking a Stellaron to complete her initiation. |
| Initiation delayed | 51 92 | Faces four years of sublight travel and remains unable to retrieve Jarilo-VI’s Stellaron. |
| Full Stellaron Hunter | 132 | Obtains Sand Sea Planet’s Stellaron after fighting through its Fragmentum with Kafka. |
Appearance
- Silver hair and a short stature: She is substantially shorter than the adult Bronya and, by their reunion, Chu Mu 132 480.
- Remarkable resemblance to Bronya: Their adult faces and hair color are identical; even their bangs and curled ponytails look similar. Height, clothing, and slight hairstyle differences distinguish them 480.
- Youthful voice: Her first communication with Kafka carries a hint of childishness 28.
- Clothing: She wears skimpy clothing during the Sand Sea Planet reunion. Inside the altered Simulated Universe, she instead wears white linen clothes and crude leather armor stained with dried blood 132 213.
Personality
Silver Wolf treats the universe as a game, describing companions as teammates, investigations as dungeons, and threats as mobs. This outlook shapes both her enthusiasm for dangerous situations and her approach to hacking reality itself. She favors old-fashioned manual gaming controls for their challenge and nostalgia, despite the availability of consciousness-level simulations 52 54 60 480.
She is sarcastic, competitive, and quick to push back against Kafka’s teasing. She rejects Kafka’s attempts to cast her as a daughter or Chu Mu’s little sister, insisting that she is a coworker. Her pride also makes her unwilling to recover her banned accounts through Chu Mu’s influence: she would rather lose them than give Herta grounds to belittle her 31 38 459.
Although she claims that socializing is exhausting and prefers programmed friends, she becomes deeply attached to Chu Mu. She quietly adds features to his assistive AI, accompanies Kafka into Deep Blue Star’s depths despite the danger of Propagation, and insists that he stay to play games after his rescue 84 90 94 264.
Her gaming enthusiasm does not erase her survival instincts. She abandons a server-room operation when self-destruction begins and immediately withdraws the Star Destroyer from a confrontation involving the Antimatter Legion 80 116.
Abilities & Skills
Hacking and Cyberwarfare
Silver Wolf breaks into networks, manipulates identification systems, and extracts protected information 67 80 92.
- Identity forgery: Creates Kafka’s cover as a Kliperburg internal-affairs official, allowing passage into the Underworld 28.
- Access-key cracking: Opens Asta’s escape pod by searching a key database. The pod’s lack of failed-attempt restrictions makes the task straightforward 67.
- Network intrusion: Breaches Skorint’s local network and deploys an information bomb to increase server activity 80.
- Decryption: Works through several encryption layers on copied data, uncovering the Corporation’s findings about Deep Blue Star 83 84.
- Surveillance interference: Tampers with the Corporation’s facial-recognition system to protect Kafka 92.
- Identification spoofing: Helps pirates access a Starport docking system by falsifying an identification code, earning a commission 92.
- Fleet diversion: Changes an IPC fleet’s warp coordinates and removes Belobog’s coordinates from its system 477 480 481.
Limits:
- She explicitly says she cannot change an account’s Credits balance 67.
- Offline storage requires physical access rather than a remote cyberattack 80.
- Her programs are not unbreakable; she acknowledges someone capable of cracking them 92.
- Herta repeatedly freezes her gaming accounts, preventing even Stelle from contacting her through them 399 459.
Reality-Coordinate Alteration
Silver Wolf’s teleportation comes from treating the universe’s rules like a game’s source code and finding ways to “enable cheats” 480.
- Teleports objects, including Kafka’s purchases, back to their starship 31.
- Transports herself and Chu Mu directly into a secured server room, then evacuates them when the operation becomes dangerous 80.
- Uses precise spatial coordinates supplied by Kafka to teleport from the Star Destroyer to Belobog 477 480.
Artificial Intelligence Programming
Silver Wolf programs virtual companions tailored to her preferences and develops an assistive AI for Chu Mu 84 92.
- Proposes an AI that describes what a camera sees, helping compensate for Chu Mu’s blindness 84.
- Agrees to train its synthesized voice using Kafka’s recorded audio; Kafka specifies the name Faf 84.
- Implements Kafka’s requested features and adds further functions herself, working on secondary screens while gaming 94.
- Identifies the security tension between tracking functions and protection against tracking: a system she can locate may also be cracked by someone else 92.
Intelligence Gathering and Infiltration
Silver Wolf combines technical intrusion with physical information retrieval 80 250.
- Teaches Chu Mu packet capture, attack simulation, and basic network concepts 80.
- Uses “social engineering” to describe obtaining information outside cyberattacks, including entering a server room and copying an offline machine 80.
- Coordinates her teleportation with Chu Mu’s invisibility and sound-based perception during their Skorint operation 80.
- Remotely controls robots during the Sand Sea Planet sinkhole investigation 105.
- Produces a composite image of the missing “Lady” from witness information 107.
- Maps Giantwood Tower’s guards and patrol routes to plan a rescue with minimal detection 250.
Spacecraft Operation
- Performs an abrupt evasive descent when she detects danger near Deep Blue Star’s spaceport 53.
- Uses extreme flight maneuvers and terrain scanning while navigating the planet’s atmosphere 54.
- Initiates an emergency warp before the rival fleets near Sand Sea Planet can attack 116.
- Configures and checks the replacement Star Destroyer before departure 134.
Gaming and Marksmanship
- Introduces Chu Mu to games designed for blind players; he quickly becomes capable of defeating her in some competitions 52.
- Practices with her eyes closed and finds that removing visual distractions improves her performance 83.
- Kills Sand Sea Planet’s chief with a sniper rifle, then describes the consequences as team buffs and a “Kingslayer” title 96.
- Finally wins a board-game round against Chu Mu with Herta placing his pieces, but leaves when Herta challenges her directly 278.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Gaming consoles and controllers — Prefers an outdated manual-control console; her gaming equipment occupies the old ship’s Command Module 52 83.
- Portable gaming devices — Carries a handheld console during the descent into Deep Blue Star and a waist-mounted device later in the story 90 309.
- Virtual screens and copying device — Used for hacking, monitoring network activity, and extracting server data 67 80.
- Stellar Core Detector — Scans Sand Sea Planet, where a strong shielding layer obstructs detection 95.
- Thermal imager — Detects heat signatures among the supposed undead, suggesting they are alive 60.
- Heavy machine gun — An eighteen-barreled weapon rated at twenty thousand rounds per minute. Kafka received it as a purchase freebie and gave it to Silver Wolf as a room decoration 58.
- Sniper rifle — Used to shoot Sand Sea Planet’s chief 96.
- Short spear — Carried during the altered Simulated Universe desert journey 213 215.
- Hand cannon — An oversized weapon with an arm-thick barrel, carried during the Giantwood rescue operation 262 264.
Relationships
- Kafka — Senior teammate and frequent sparring partner. Kafka relies on her technical skills while teasing her as a rebellious child; Silver Wolf resents being treated as an errand-runner but repeatedly supports her missions 28 31 78 90.
- Chu Mu — Close companion, gaming partner, and hacking student. She supports his blindness through technology and becomes openly distressed by their separations. Kafka assigns her the role of his little sister, which she never admits aloud 52 80 94 264 480.
- Elio — Invited her into the Stellaron Hunters. His scripts restrict which Stellarons she may collect, and his prediction that she would fulfill a wish on Sand Sea Planet comes true with her promotion 28 95 132 485.
- Herta — Competitive rival whose exchanges with Silver Wolf frequently turn into insults. Herta freezes her gaming accounts, and Silver Wolf insists on recovering them without outside favors 215 264 269 459.
- Bronya / Xiao Bu — Chu Mu’s younger sister and Silver Wolf’s striking look-alike. Their first meeting unsettles Silver Wolf, particularly because Bronya is much taller 38 480.
- Sampo — Distrusted traveling associate. She calls him a “hidden elite mob,” repeatedly objects to keeping him aboard, and suspects he could endanger their group 64 65 113.
- Tingyun — Traveling companion whom Silver Wolf says she would rather accept into the family than Herta 295.
- Stelle and March 7th — Allies in the altered Simulated Universe. Silver Wolf warns them about uncertain death mechanics and helps plan Chu Mu’s rescue 214 240.
- Sam — Earlier Stellaron Hunter who picks her up and accompanies her journey toward Belobog 459 475 485.
Story Role / Major Arcs
| Arc | Silver Wolf’s involvement |
|---|---|
| Kafka’s adoption mission | Provides forged documents, remote communications, and teleportation support on Jarilo-VI. Her discovery of a Stellaron introduces her unfinished initiation mission 28 31 49. |
| Deep Blue Star | Bonds with Chu Mu through games, operates the auxiliary ship, opens Asta’s escape pod, and uncovers records identifying the planet as an Aeon incubator. Later accompanies Kafka underwater to find Chu Mu despite the possible threat of Propagation 52 53 67 84 85 90. |
| Sand Sea Planet | Assists investigations and escapes approaching hostile fleets. A warp accident strands her and Kafka in the Stellaron’s Fragmentum; they fight through it and recover the Stellaron. Its removal deprives the historical nodes involved in the Red Sun’s resurrection of their sustaining power 105 107 116 132. |
| Herta Space Station | Opens passages while following Elio’s script and accompanies Kafka to Chu Mu’s location 139. |
| Altered Simulated Universe | Is dragged into the anomaly alongside Kafka. With the group’s Path abilities unavailable, she gathers intelligence and plans a conventional infiltration of Giantwood Tower. She participates in the operation that retrieves Chu Mu and Herta 213 214 223 245 250 264. |
| Gaming-account dispute | Herta’s bans occupy her during Chu Mu’s Xianzhou travels. News that he is out prompts her to stop attempting account recovery and head toward Belobog with Sam 399 413 459 475. |
| Belobog reunion | Meets Bronya thirteen years after seeing her childhood photograph. Reveals that she has diverted the approaching IPC fleet to random warp coordinates, preventing its immediate arrival at Belobog 480 481. |
| Return to Deep Blue Star | Travels aboard the Star Destroyer when Chu Mu presents a Stellaron and requests membership in the Hunters; Sam departs to fetch Elio while the main ship continues toward Deep Blue Star 484 485. |
Notable Quotes
“Maybe the universe is just one massive game.” 54
“No. Since I came down here, fear isn’t part of the equation.” 90
“We Stellaron Hunters are wanted criminals to begin with, not paragons of virtue.” 240
“You’re not allowed to leave this time! And we’re playing games together when we get back!” 264
Trivia
- Herta’s Rating Gun assigns her 110 points. Kafka dismisses the score’s value because she suspects tampering; the passage does not establish whether Silver Wolf altered it 139.
- An IPC encyclopedia page about the Stellaron Hunters undergoes repeated unauthorized revisions despite editing restrictions. A reported replacement with oversized doodles of a silver-haired girl’s face is attributed to Silver Wolf as a likely culprit, not a confirmed one 376.
- Inside the altered Simulated Universe, her attempt to kick down a monitoring-room door ends with her falling backward. Kafka opens it by shooting the lock and kicking it herself 264.
