Zhang Xiao celebrated winning the first Super Goblet of Fire, then watched the other Champions struggle against the Aurors’ attacks. Beneath a bridge, Hermione realized that the Hogwarts group could use the water to get around the restrictions.
Hermione led the Hogwarts Champions through the waterways to evade the Aurors, and Neville revealed a dolphin Patronus that helped carry them toward MetLife Stadium. After the team fought through the Aurors’ interception, Neville reached the stadium and secured their finish.
The Super Goblet of Fire competition ended with Hogwarts victorious, and the champions gathered for a grand awards ceremony as Zhang Xiao celebrated the changes he had brought to Hogwarts. As Voldemort prepared to begin an attack on Muggles, Zhang Xiao sensed danger just as the celebration reached its height.
Morgan, Rockefeller, and Ossis arranged an attack on MetLife Stadium, where Zhang Xiao and Dumbledore used a joint Shield Charm to protect the wizards from a bombing. After Dumbledore was stabbed and Barty Crouch revealed his plot, Dumbledore pulled the poisoned dagger from his body and identified Barty Crouch Junior.
Voldemort arrived at the bomb-shattered stadium, prompting Dumbledore to rally the surviving wizards for battle as the Magical Projection spread the slaughter across the wizarding world. While allies set out to support the fight, monsters and demons erupted across the Divine Land, forcing the Daoist Order to mobilize.
Voldemort’s attack sparked a massive battle between the Dark Wizards and the defenders, while Dumbledore unleashed his power and killed Barty Crouch Jr. Zhang Xiao realized their families were still in the Spectator Stand and sent his friends to find them as Rainwater organized the house-elves to evacuate the wounded and Muggles.
Malfoy and Lucius chose to stay and fight while the Church and Morgan family completed a secret plan around a ritual that gave a child extraordinary powers. The Church sealed the battlefield inside a vast barrier, and Morgan ordered the next stage of the attack as the trapped fighters realized they could no longer escape.
Ossis’s plan to annihilate the wizards with an M388 nuclear shell began, but Dumbledore used powerful magic to contain the blast. As the Church prepared an artillery follow-up, Voldemort attacked the Dumbledore protecting him with a Killing Curse.
Dumbledore contained the nuclear blast but was badly burned after Voldemort attacked him, and he entrusted Zhang Xiao with protecting everyone before collapsing. Trapped behind the Light Curtain, Zhang Xiao confronted Voldemort, exposed and destroyed his Horcruxes, and prepared to kill him.
Zhang Xiao fought Voldemort as artillery scattered the gathered wizards into smaller battles, until Professors McGonagall, Flitwick, and Snape arrived to join the fight. With Dumbledore gravely injured but stabilized, Zhang Xiao headed back into the battle as Grindelwald left Nurmengard.
Ossis and Morgan ordered a ground assault on the wizards, deciding to sacrifice their forces and broadcast the battle to turn the world against them. As the fighting intensified, Zhang Xiao hunted giants, Dudley prepared to enter combat, and Grindelwald asked Nicolas Flamel for a potion to restore his youth.
Grindelwald drank a potion that restored his youth, took the Elder Wand from Zhang Xiao, and confronted Voldemort while Dumbledore lay gravely wounded. As the battle spread across the battlefield, Harry led a group out to protect the shelter, Malfoy stayed behind to guard it, and Dudley’s squad advanced with armed soldiers.
Zhang Xiao discovered that the Demon Hunters and American soldiers were systematically encircling and slaughtering the wizards, and realized magic alone could not stop them. He rose into the sky and began gathering power as a new sun blazed above the battlefield.
Zhang Xiao used talisman wings to scatter disorientation charms across the battlefield, disrupting the allied forces and turning the fight into chaos. As the charms failed to reach Grindelwald and Voldemort’s duel, Zhang Xiao prepared a lightning-charged hammer in case he had to intervene.
Zhang Xiao disrupted the Death Eaters while the battle’s confused participants scattered, and the people watching struggled to salvage their plans. Dudley rescued Harry from Demon Hunters and revealed himself as Big D, leaving the cousins face to face after years apart.
Harry and Dudley reunited and set out to find Petunia, while Sirius confronted Peter Pettigrew and killed him after learning he had betrayed James and Lily out of fear. The chapter ended with Sirius grieving the friends they had lost.
After killing Wormtail, Black noticed that his dog form let him see through the mist and went looking for the separated young wizards. Neville was trapped by Bellatrix and three other Death Eaters until Dudley arrived with Harry and a stag, interrupting Bellatrix's Killing Curse.
Dudley and Neville confronted Bellatrix Lestrange after she mocked Dudley's father, while Harry fought the Carrow siblings. Dudley and Neville killed Bellatrix with a coordinated sword attack, leaving Harry still battling the Carrows.
Harry, Neville, and Dudley continued through the fog after Bellatrix’s death, while Zhang Xiao learned that Sirius had killed Peter Pettigrew and sent him to try to help Dumbledore. Voldemort nearly killed Grindelwald, but Zhang Xiao’s lightning-wreathed hammer struck Voldemort as he cast the killing curse.
Zhang Xiao faced Voldemort after Grindelwald fell, sending the injured old wizard to safety and clearing the battlefield mist so others could see. Voldemort publicly challenged Zhang Xiao, who drew the Golden Talisman Script and asked whether Voldemort would truly stand still and let him attack.
Zhang Xiao activated the Daoist Order’s sole Heavenly Court petition talisman, summoning repeated lightning strikes against Voldemort. After Voldemort used people as shields and fled the bolts, the gathered wizards turned on him, and a fourth strike hit while he stood stunned.
Voldemort survived the Celestial Masters' lightning strike and challenged Zhang Xiao to become his servant, but Zhang Xiao resisted and fought him at full power. As Zhang Xiao's strength began to fail, the clash of their spells swallowed him in a blazing sphere.
Voldemort’s attack left Zhang Xiao apparently dead, but the Longbottoms and other allies rushed to protect him as he underwent a mysterious transformation. Immersed in blissful white light, Zhang heard memories and voices calling his name and finally opened his eyes.
After a mysterious orb restored Zhang Xiao and unlocked his memories, he returned to the battle with Voldemort at full strength. As their duel raged through the sky, Zhang Xiao told Harry he planned to lure Voldemort down and switch places with him when Voldemort cast the Avada Kedavra Curse.
Zhang Xiao and the defenders defeated Voldemort after Nagini’s death exposed him to his own Grim Reaper spell. As Hogwarts celebrated, Dumbledore told Zhang Xiao to leave Hogwarts and explore the world, while promising he could always return.
