"Who hit me?"
Scott's head snapped to the side, and he went flying.
He immediately adjusted his posture and shrank rapidly after landing.
An orange-yellow beam sliced through the ground where he had just been.
"Darren?" Scott recognized the familiar attack, utterly surprised.
Darren hovered in the air. Seeing Scott, he said, "Scott, long time no see."
"What are you plotting?" Scott's first thought was that Darren might be behind this whole thing. "Did you cause all this?"
"I told you, I'm the one on the side of justice." Darren accelerated, his fist slamming into the ground like a bullet. He tilted his head to glance at Scott, who had dodged. "The government sent me to arrest the 'evil' Captain America and an international fugitive."
"Okay, that fugitive isn't me, right?"
Scott readied himself for battle.
His advantage from shrinking was gone. Against Darren, who also had shrinking technology, he needed another strategy.
As the two tiny figures fought, the Avengers clashed in earnest.
Peter faced Steve.
Strictly speaking, both belonged to the category of poor guys who relied on mutation.
Peter was physically stronger, but Steve had far more seasoned combat experience.
Steve chose to meet every change by holding steady. Rather than attacking immediately, he minimized his movements and observed.
He had already noticed that this strange kid, Peter, could catch Bucky's steel fist with one hand. He wasn't as strong as Peter.
Peter kept moving, using the attacks he excelled at along with his maddening verbal barrage.
He babbled nonstop about things that had nothing to do with the fight.
Bucky faced T'Challa.
Determined to avenge his father, T'Challa held nothing back. One had a metal arm, the other vibranium armor.
T'Challa had the advantage in equipment, and his relentless attacks left Bucky struggling to defend himself.
