Chapter Summaries

Tony and Stephen led the heroes in an attempt to restrain Thanos and take his gauntlet, while Thanos explained his plan to erase half of all life. The fight ended with Thanos unleashing a massive burst of energy that engulfed the group just as John and Gamora were called into action.

• Robert used the car's spilled gasoline to set the Deviant ablaze, but it survived and dragged him toward its jaws.

Thena told Gilgamesh that the Celestials used the Eternals to guard worlds until they could harvest the life there to birth new Celestials. As the Silver Hand 2017 returned to Earth, the pair resolved to contact the other Eternals, but learned that Ajak was dead.

• Thena and Gilgamesh found the world they had visited reduced to wreckage, and Thena recognized it as the site where a Celestial had emerged.
• John studied a Deviant, concluded that Deviants and Eternals had similar structures, and ordered the Star Spirit Guardians to watch for more attacks.
• MOSS informed John that a Deviant had attacked Robert in New York, where Dax arrived in time to help.
• Thena and Gilgamesh returned to Earth and decided to contact the other Eternals, while considering whether Ajak might have known the Celestials' secret.
• Thena and Gilgamesh learned that Ajak was dead.

Dane asked Sersi to move in with him, but she refused because she feared the pain of outliving him. When a Deviant attacked the Eternals, Ikaris intervened, and John marked the creature before realizing he had been discovered.

• John told the Eternals that he knew Gilgamesh and suggested they might someday seek his help, then vanished after questioning Sersi about Sprite.
• At Silver Hand Manor, John discovered that a Deviant corpse was regenerating toward the separated Celestial Genes and suspected the genes could strengthen Deviants.
• John fed a piece of Celestial Genes to a mutated garden plant, which transformed into a Deviant that attacked him and absorbed his blood before he destroyed it with Blasting Curses.
• John repeated the experiment with a restrained plant and killed the resulting Deviant with the Killing Curse.
• Thor arrived at the manor with Frigga to retrieve Stormbreaker, remarked that the manor smelled smoky, and entered as the gate opened.
