Need a ride, buddy?

There was no denying how tough vampires were, especially against blunt-force trauma. With their incredible regenerative abilities, so-called internal injuries were hardly a problem.

Frost flew into the air, spun for two years... two and a half revolutions, then smacked onto the ground. His springy body bounced twice. An ordinary human would have been gravely injured, unable to get back up.

But Frost merely turned a little paler, then climbed to his feet as though nothing had happened.

Yang Bo quickly opened the car door and darted out, lunging at the nearest vampire with his long blade and the Stake thrusting out together.

As the saying went, never pursue a desperate enemy.

What that meant was that you shouldn't chase an enemy who was poor.

But no matter how Yang Bo looked at these vampires, he couldn't see anything poor about them. The luxury cars sitting in his backpack proved that too, so he made his decision.

He would wipe them all out!

Clang, clang, clang...

A stream of bullets flew toward Yang Bo, but the hand speed he had developed over twenty-plus years of being single was no joke. He whipped out a shield. He hadn't wanted to use it earlier because it would slow down his killing, but if he accidentally got killed now and had to run back after respawning, these vampires would be long gone.

"This shield is really handy... its durability just drops way too fast!"

Once he adopted a shield-blocking stance, his movement speed dropped considerably. That was another reason he hadn't wanted to use it.

After getting up, Frost saw Yang Bo blocking his men's ferocious gunfire with nothing but a wooden shield. He hurriedly shouted, "Kill them! Kill the Daywalker too!"

The moment he finished speaking, Frost turned and ran, not caring in the slightest about his men's lives. He wasn't thinking about the Daywalker anymore. All he wanted now was to go home, leave this place, and head to another city. Once he found another Daywalker and became the Blood God, he would return for revenge.

Watching Frost retreat, Yang Bo immediately grew anxious.

"I can't let him slip away when I've practically got him!"

Crouching behind his shield, Yang Bo pulled out his pistol, aimed at a vampire, and squeezed the trigger. To his surprise, all the gun produced was a series of clicks.

"Out of bullets???"

Blade had left this pistol with him last time. Although its magazine capacity had been greatly increased through some outrageous modifications, that couldn't keep up with how much he used it. The fierce battle had exhausted its specially made silver bullets. There were other weapons in his backpack, but those only had ordinary ammunition, which really wasn't much use against vampires. He would be better off charging over and slashing them.

Blade, meanwhile, also felt tremendous pressure. Earlier, the vampires had wanted to capture him alive, but now they weren't holding back at all. Bullet after bullet slammed into his car, leaving him no chance to return fire.

Yang Bo frowned at the sight. This couldn't go on.

He took out his cobblestone and quickly enclosed himself, then pulled out a shovel and dug into the ground. Thanks to his Vampire Sense skill, he could clearly see the vampires above him even while underground.

"Tunnel warfare... our forebears really knew what they were talking about!"

Picking out one unlucky bastard, he dug away the earth beneath the vampire's feet. With a startled cry, the vampire fell right in front of Yang Bo before he could react. At the sight of Yang Bo's savage grin, he frantically tried to back away.

"Surprised? Didn't see that coming, did you?"

With a squelch, the long blade and Stake plunged into the vampire's body. Yang Bo picked up the drops from the ground and quickly dug toward his next victim.

It was nighttime, and there were no light sources nearby, only the sparse starlight overhead. The vampires still pinning Blade down failed to notice that the earth beneath their feet had begun mercilessly swallowing their companions.

Only when the gunfire around them grew increasingly sparse did the remaining vampires realize something was wrong. Looking around, they discovered to their horror that their original force of several dozen had dwindled to just over ten.

An inexplicable sense of dread spread among the vampires.

"Aaah..."

With that scream, the vampires watched one of their own standing among them drop into the earth. The square hole that had suddenly appeared was quickly sealed again, and then all sound from below ceased.

"Damn it, the enemy's underground!!"

The vampire who spoke squeezed his trigger at the ground, but it accomplished nothing.

"Aaah..."

Another vampire vanished from where he stood.

Panic began to spread, and the remaining vampires abandoned all resistance and scattered.

Yang Bo had made another killing. Seeing the enemies flee, he immediately jumped out of the ground and returned to the car. Looking at its bullet-riddled door, he hurriedly asked, "How is it? Can you still drive it?"

As soon as he asked, Yang Bo noticed that the tire on the side of the car was completely flat. Even if the engine worked, it would be useless. Blade pulled on the driver's door, and with a creak, the entire thing came off.

Uh...

Blade's face darkened. This car had been with him for years; he hadn't expected it to meet such a disastrous fate today. He sat in the driver's seat and turned the key. Never mind starting-the starter motor wouldn't even twitch.

Looking at Yang Bo outside the window, Blade shook his head. "No good. They shot it to pieces!" He angrily slammed a hand against the steering wheel. This was the closest he had ever come to killing Frost.

Yang Bo wasn't particularly worried by that. He said at once, "Don't worry. I've still got the cars those vampires drove here. Let me check which ones have the keys in them!"

Inside, he was praying that some lazy vampire hadn't bothered to take the keys out.

On the third car he pulled out, Yang Bo finally found one with the keys still in it. Excited, he hurriedly called to Blade.

"This one's got keys! Get over here!"

Blade immediately ran over, opened the door, sat in the driver's seat, and started the car with practiced ease.

"Get in!"

Yang Bo sat in the passenger seat, and the car shot forward. Blade naturally knew the terrain here like the back of his hand. They soon reached the main road and spotted Frost trying to flag down a car by the roadside.

As they drove over, Yang Bo stuck his head out the window and slapped the door to get his attention. Smiling broadly, he said, "Need a ride, buddy?"

Hearing Yang Bo's voice, Frost collapsed to the ground, abandoning all thought of escape. Blade and Yang Bo's arrival could mean only one thing: his men were finished.

With a squeal of brakes, the car stopped right in front of Frost. Without a word, Blade jumped out of the driver's seat, raised his fist, and smashed it into Frost's face.

Grabbing him by the hair, he hauled Frost up from the ground.

"Frost, I finally found you!!"

Seeing Frost's condition, Yang Bo suddenly remembered that Frost was the one who had bitten Blade's mother. After giving birth to Blade, she hadn't died; she had become a vampire and stayed by Frost's side. If you really wanted to stretch it, Frost was technically Blade's goddamn stepfather. How was that remotely fair?

At that thought, Yang Bo gave Blade a look filled with complicated emotions. He said nothing, merely watching as Blade vented his rage by driving punch after punch into Frost's face.
