By the time they came out of the mall, the sky had gone completely dark, and the streetlights were all on.
Yang Bo and Coulson returned to the truck carrying bags of all sizes. Yang Bo had already put some items that could be converted into materials into his inventory on the way out. The rest were just for show.
Blade hadn't gone into the mall with Yang Bo. Instead, he'd stayed in the truck to keep an eye on Bor, worried that something might go wrong.
"Come on, let's head back!"
After stuffing the remaining items into his inventory, Yang Bo smiled with satisfaction and said this while resting a hand on Blade.
Vroom...
The truck roared to life and sped toward Central Park. But when they reached the entrance, another problem arose. Seeing that the park was even more crowded than it had been during the day gave Yang Bo a headache.
"Forget it. Let's wait until after midnight!"
After parking in a parking lot, Yang Bo jumped out of the truck. He checked that there weren't any pedestrians nearby, then walked around to the cargo compartment and opened the doors, revealing Bor wedged inside. Perhaps it was his imagination, but Bor seemed to have slimmed down a little.
The instant Bor saw Yang Bo, he grew excited.
"Oh, oh... Yang, you're finally here!"
His excitement made the entire truck shake. Apparently, all the points that should have gone into Bor's speed had gone into strength instead.
"I thought you'd forgotten about me! I nearly starved to death in the Archive Room!"
Watching the fat wobble all over Bor's body, Yang Bo chuckled. "Of course not! I'm still counting on you to help me get things done!"
"But there are too many people outside right now, so you'll have to wait here a little longer. I'll take you back after midnight, when there are fewer people around!"
"You really ought to lose some weight, though!"
As he spoke, he took two dark red [Human Hearts] out of his inventory and tossed them to Bor. Bor sniffed them, then immediately stuffed them into his mouth.
"These are delicious! My God!"
Yang Bo merely smiled. These things were completely useless to a Vampire Hunter like him. It wasn't as if he ate them.
Beside him, Coulson looked as though he'd just had his eyes opened to a whole new world. This was his first time seeing Bor, and the sight had left an extremely deep impression.
He leaned toward Blade's ear and whispered, "Do vampires eat this well these days?"
Blade shook his head slightly. "I've never come across anything like this either!"
Looking at the [Vampire Fangs] in his inventory, Yang Bo had a bold idea.
If Bor could become a vampire from Minecraft, that would make things so much easier!
At the thought, Yang Bo immediately gave Bor an eager look. Bor shivered and asked in bewilderment, "What are you planning?"
"Let me make this clear first. I'll help you do anything, but I won't sell my body!"
Yang Bo: "..."
"Pfft! There's practically enough fat on you for me to swim in!"
"I just wanted to ask whether you want to become stronger!"
A flicker of eagerness flashed through Bor's eyes. Who wouldn't want to become stronger? He certainly didn't want to spend the rest of his life unable to move, relying on others to feed him every day. If they ever forgot about him, all he could do was watch helplessly as he starved to death.
"Of course I do!"
Blade and Coulson exchanged a glance. Neither said anything; they simply watched to see what Yang Bo would do next.
Yang Bo climbed into the cargo compartment and took out a [Vampire Fang]. In the game, using this item poisoned the player for three seconds and inflicted Blood Sickness. After one in-game day, or twenty minutes, Blood Sickness wore off, and the player became a vampire.
Normally, vampires couldn't use this item. The system would display a message: "You're already a vampire!"
Yang Bo aimed the [Vampire Fang] at Bor and mentally commanded it to activate. The [Vampire Fang] in his hand was instantly consumed, and Bor's enormous body immediately turned bright green, with green particles drifting out of him.
"I... I feel awful..."
Bor felt his body grow terribly weak, and pain surged through him.
The three seconds of poison passed in the blink of an eye. Before he could think about it any further, his body returned to normal.
"I feel so awf-huh? That feeling's gone!"
If the damage to his body hadn't still been there, he would have thought he'd imagined it.
Yang Bo walked over to check Bor's condition and discovered, to his surprise, that he could actually see Bor's status bar.
Blood Sickness: ∞
It displayed an infinite duration, but in reality, it only took twenty minutes.
Bor checked how his body felt, then asked in confusion, "Am I stronger now? Why don't I feel anything?"
Yang Bo rolled his eyes at Bor. "You're getting ahead of yourself. It's not that easy. Wait here for me!"
With that, Yang Bo jumped out of the cargo compartment and took materials from his inventory to begin crafting a Rallying Altar. Unfortunately, he had no glass. He looked around but couldn't spot a construction site anywhere.
Blade and Coulson watched Yang Bo take a peculiar item out of his inventory and set it on the ground, then stand motionless with a constipated expression. They immediately realized he'd run into a problem.
"Yang, was what you said earlier true? Can you really make Bor stronger?"
Pulled out of his thoughts, Yang Bo turned and saw Blade and Coulson standing beside him. He turned around and sat on the Crafting Table, chuckling. "He should be able to get stronger, but right now, I'm just experimenting!"
"But I'm short on sand. Without it, I can't continue the experiment!"
Coulson immediately said, "I can help you with that! How much do you need?" As he spoke, he pulled his phone out of his pocket.
"Hmm, a whole lot. But for now, just get me some to tide me over!"
Glass was a consumable as far as Yang Bo was concerned, and he needed enormous quantities of it. Even several hundred cubic meters wouldn't be too much. For now, though, his priority was making the three glass blocks needed to craft the Rallying Altar.
Coulson nodded and immediately called the S.H.I.E.L.D. Logistics Department.
"I need a large quantity of sand delivered to the parking lot west of Central Park!"
"Understood!"
The person on the other end didn't ask why. With Coulson's clearance, requisitioning supplies like these was child's play. There was no need to report it to anyone.
Having shown off a little, Coulson hung up and smiled at Yang Bo. "Looks like we'll have to wait a bit!"
Yang Bo nodded enviously. He wished he could get anything he wanted with a single phone call too.
With nothing else to do for the moment, he took the watermelons he'd bought out of his inventory. Rather than convert them straight into Minecraft watermelons, he cut them into individual slices first. That way, he'd get many times more melon slices when he converted them.
I'm such a thrifty, practical man!
