They'd been caught!
"I knew it!"
Damian angrily pounded the Batcycle, looking at Miaomiao with utter frustration at her failure to do better.
"Even I could see through that pathetic attempt at hiding things. How could Father possibly not know?"
Still, Damian had clung to a sliver of hope that Batman, who had only just resumed his nightly patrols, hadn't noticed what the children at home were up to.
Now, clearly, that hope had fallen through.
Seeing that their plan had been exposed, Miaomiao immediately suppressed the excitement threatening to spill across her face. She hurried up to Bruce with tiny steps, caught his sleeve, and gently shook it, her big, dark eyes blinking up at him. "Daddy Bruce~ I just want to say something to the Joker. I won't cause trouble~ Really! I swear!"
The little girl's sweet, adorable manner softened Batman's tone, but it still brooked no argument. "The Joker isn't someone you children should approach lightly. Go back to your rooms."
Realizing that his tone might have been too harsh, Batman opened his mouth and awkwardly added, "Be good. Don't make me worry."
The young Red Robin ambled into view at the garage doorway, leaned against the wall, and yawned. "Give it up. Batman noticed what you were doing ages ago."
Looking at the head of the family before her, Miaomiao understood that tonight's plan was definitely a lost cause. She pouted, nodded, and obediently agreed.
Only after Batman disappeared down the hallway did Miaomiao lower her eyes, hiding the resentment in them.
Damian hesitated, then walked over, stood on tiptoe, and awkwardly patted his older sister's head. "Stop thinking about it. Since we've been caught, Batman will definitely be keeping an eye on us for a while. At the very least, we can't do this anytime
