The ram named Fast seemed to sense Damian's anger, but instead of being frightened, he gave Damian a defiant bleat. Then he backed up two steps, aimed himself at Damian, lowered his head, and charged again.
This time, Damian merely turned slightly to the side, neatly avoiding Fast's "attack."
"Stupid sheep. Do you think I'd fall for the same thing twice?"
The impatience in Damian's eyes deepened, but the ram seemed completely unfamiliar with fear. To him, Damian's voice apparently sounded like some kind of response. Thoroughly enjoying himself, the ram kept going. He bleated twice, turned around, lined himself up with Damian, then backed up, lowered his head, and charged.
"Hey! I said, enough!"
Damian shouted with a frown, dodging the attack again. One little throwing dart could have settled everything, yet he couldn't bring himself to use it. He didn't even raise his foot to kick.
Fast seemed entirely oblivious to his warning. Instead, he shook his head and bleated at Damian again. The sound was clear and cocky, as though mocking his earlier embarrassment-or inviting him to another round.
"He seems to have picked you, Damian." Miaomiao couldn't help chuckling. "Little Jo and I are both right here, but he isn't interested in us at all."
Damian rolled his eyes. "That's hardly something to be proud of."
"I think Fast likes you," Little Jo said earnestly, struggling to hold back his laughter. "He's mischievous, but he's actually pretty smart. He never plays like this with strangers. He used to keep chasing me around and butting me. He seems to think it's a game. If he likes someone, he wants to play with them."
"Well, aren't I honored."
Damian delivered the words with a stony expression, then dodged Fast's "game" once more.
"Stop! Stupid sheep! That's an order!"
