Alfred explained how Dick and Jason had hidden the bullying they endured at school, and Bruce learned about Dick’s past in a phone call. Dick and Bruce spoke honestly about why Dick had kept his struggles to himself, while Miaomiao reassured Dick that her day at school had gone well.
Bruce asked Tim and Damian whether they had experienced bullying, then reassured his children that they could rely on their family. The family responded to his heartfelt words with rare tenderness, and Alfred decided they deserved extra cookies at dinner.
Miaomiao asked Bruce for help choosing electives, and the Wayne family weighed her interests against the classes still available at Anders Academy. Tim began checking the remaining options, but the chapter ended before Miaomiao chose a course.
Tim helped Miaomiao choose her electives, and she settled on Mythology and Folklore and Marine Biology. The next day, she talked with Lia about the school newspaper’s coverage of her tennis match and shared her choices.
Miaomiao discussed choosing Mythology and Folklore and Marine Biology with Lia, then gave Lia and Seraphina handmade seashell bracelets. Seraphina questioned Miaomiao’s gift after she placed a conch bracelet on her desk.
Miaomiao and Lia grew close at school, while Seraphina quietly joined their orbit. After a streak of setbacks convinced John Elliott that Miaomiao was behind his misfortune, he hired a thug to follow her and began tailing Lia himself.
Seraphina followed Lia to the downtown public library after spotting John Elliott tailing her, then sensed danger as Lia approached two suspicious sedans. Meanwhile, Miaomiao marveled at the stars from the Watchtower, leaving Lia's situation unresolved.
Bruce brought Miaomiao to the Watchtower for the Justice League meeting, giving her a chance to see Earth from space for the first time. There, she reunited with Barry Allen and inadvertently bruised his pride by asking whether he or Superman was faster.
Miaomiao explored the Justice League's Watchtower while Bruce, Diana, Clark, and the other heroes attended a meeting. She followed a young voice claiming to be Batman's best Robin and discovered it came from a starfish-like creature sealed in a jar.
Miaomiao met Jarro, a tiny psychic starfish who proudly called Batman his dad and dreamed of becoming Robin. Jarro revealed his fear of inheriting Starro the Conqueror’s destructive instincts, but insisted that he wanted to become a hero and protector.
Miaomiao encouraged Jarro’s dream of becoming Robin and made him a miniature uniform suited to his body. Jarro treasured the gift while Batman watched quietly, relieved that Damian was not at the Watchtower to see it.
Miaomiao and Batman let Jarro out of his jar and welcomed him as Batman’s son, but their tender moment ended when John Elliott called Miaomiao for help. John reported that masked kidnappers had abducted Lia Chen and were moving against Seraphina.
After Lia and Seraphina were abducted, John Elliott turned to Miaomiao Wayne for help, and Batman began organizing a rescue. Miaomiao and Jarro joined Batman as he headed through the Watchtower portal to investigate.
After Lia Chen and Seraphina Dumas were kidnapped, Miaomiao and Jarro left the Batcave to search for them while Batman and Tim continued investigating. Batman warned that the kidnapping might involve an outside faction and noted the danger posed by Seraphina’s ties to the Saint Dumas Family.
Batman investigated Seraphina Dumas’s kidnapping, fearing that a misstep could ignite conflict with the Saint Dumas Family. Miaomiao and Jarro found John Elliott beside an injured driver, and John feared that even Batman did not believe him.
Miaomiao questioned John after Lia Chen and Seraphina were kidnapped, then refused to let him join the rescue because the kidnappers were armed professionals. John stayed behind to watch the injured driver and gave Miaomiao a clue about the kidnappers’ scent.
Miaomiao and the Bat-Family traced the kidnappers to a likely abandoned cosmetics factory in Black Mask’s territory, while John reflected on how his past behavior had alienated others. At the factory, Lia woke to find herself and Seraphina bound and kidnapped, and Seraphina urged them to focus on escaping.
Seraphina and Lia were kidnapped and held in a Gotham warehouse, where they learned the kidnappers had mistaken Lia for Wayne's adopted daughter. Seraphina failed to loosen their ropes, but Lia revealed extraordinary flexibility by bringing her bound arms around to the front.
Lia and Seraphina freed themselves from their bonds and planned how to escape the warehouse where armed kidnappers held them. As Seraphina climbed toward a ventilation duct, Lia prepared bottles of irritating fumes to help them get past the kidnappers.
