"All right, let me take your measurements. Which of you two would like to go first?" The tailor had a measuring tape draped around her neck.
Richie propped his chin on his hand and answered lazily, "Measure Anya first!"
The shop owner took Anya's little hand. "Please come this way, miss."
Anya's pupils shrank, the whites of her eyes showing just how terrified she was. As she was led away, she reluctantly looked back at Twilight. "Ah-Is Anya going to be sold?"
Twilight replied helplessly, "As long as you behave, you won't be sold."
Richie stood off to the side, enjoying the show as he teased Anya. "Anya, Father means that if you don't behave, he'll sell you. Looks like you're not far from being sold, Anya."
Twilight watched Anya plaintively, his voice tinged with helplessness and bewilderment. "Honestly, where did she learn to say things like that?"
Richie copied Twilight's posture, leaning against the shop counter. "Father, maybe Anya really has been sold before. That would explain why this kid says so many strange things."
It would have been fine if Richie had kept quiet, but the moment he spoke, Twilight began scrutinizing him. "Richie, where did you learn all those strange things you say?"
"Do all children have such vivid imaginations? Like that silent atomic bomb you mentioned the other day?"
Twilight stared down at Richie. Richie looked laid-back, but inwardly, he was getting nervous. He was starting to regret saying he wanted a silent atomic bomb.
Twilight was far too perceptive. One wrong move, and Richie's secret might be exposed.
Still, Twilight probably hadn't grown suspicious of him yet. After all, he only saw Richie as an imaginative, slightly clever little boy.
Richie lifted his delicate little face. His large, aqua-blue eyes were like the clear blue sky, or a whole sapphire.
When he smiled, it was as though he possessed a magic that could draw people in.
Meeting Richie's eyes, Twilight momentarily forgot everything in the world, including his troubles. All he could do was marvel at how such pure eyes and such a radiant smile could exist.
Richie was clearly a boy, yet he had a face beautiful enough to bring kingdoms to ruin. Even Twilight was a little stunned.
Richie blinked innocently at Twilight. "Father, what silent atomic bomb? How come I don't know anything about it?"
His eyes sparkled like stars. Faced with that innocent expression, Twilight couldn't bring himself to question him any further. "You mentioned it before. You probably forgot. It's fine."
Richie tipped his little face up slightly. "Oh."
After finishing Anya's measurements, the female shop owner called Richie over for his.
Just then, Yor glided up behind Twilight. "Excuse me."
A shop assistant came over to greet Yor. "Oh, my! Miss Yor, it's been so long."
From where he stood, Richie caught the shocked look on Twilight's face. He bared his pearly whites in a secretly doting grin. Hehehehe.
The legendary love-at-first-sight moment, the historic meeting, was about to begin. He and Anya would have to give their Twilight dad and mother a helping hand.
Miss Yor was gentle and poised. "It has been a while."
"I'd like to have my dress repaired. Would it be possible to get it done urgently?" Yor took out the dress she had accidentally torn while killing someone the night before.
Even the shop assistant's voice carried a smile. "Of course, of course. You're a regular customer. It's no trouble at all."
As Richie had his measurements taken, he watched Twilight's eyes widen and grew even more excited.
Their Twilight dad, a walking database, quickly searched his mind for information on the girl who had caught his eye. Who is she? She managed to slip behind me so easily.
Yor, Yor... Got it. Yor Briar. Unmarried, never divorced. Has only one younger brother.
"Sir." Yor called out to Twilight, and Richie's grin nearly reached the sky.
Twilight immediately straightened up, no longer leaning against the counter. He was rather startled.
"Is there something you need? You keep looking over at me," Yor asked.
Twilight quickly turned, so shocked that his mouth hung open. What? She even noticed my gaze?
"It's nothing. You're so beautiful, I couldn't help stealing a few extra looks." Twilight pretended to be a simple, bashful young man and scratched his head.
Delighted, Yor hurried over to Twilight, her face flushed and full of anticipation. "Then, does that mean you find my appearance attractive?"
Their Twilight dad hesitated just a little over his answer. "Uh... Well, yes."
Richie was having his waist measured nearby. At the sight of this, he excitedly shouted toward Twilight and Yor, "Miss Yor, my father likes you-"
Just then, Anya spread her little arms and came flying over. "Father, Anya's measurements are done!"
Richie's shout from across the shop left Yor too stunned to speak. So he has children. That was close. I almost approached a married man. I've heard his wife could kill me for doing that. Though, if that really happened, I might kill her instead.
Twilight blushed. Too proud to admit his feelings, he frowned and gave Richie a rather stern look. "What nonsense are you saying!"
Anya asked Twilight, "Who's this?"
Then she listened as Twilight introduced Yor. "This is Miss Yor, another customer."
At the same time, she heard Richie bellowing from over there, "She's our mom!"
And she also heard Yor thinking, No, if I keep thinking like this, sooner or later my identity as an assassin will be exposed.
Anya looked utterly exasperated. She glanced at Twilight, then Yor, and finally at Richie, whose measurements still weren't finished. An assassin, a spy father, a brother whose thoughts I can't hear, and Anya. So exciting!
Hearing Richie's bizarre declaration, Twilight shot him a deadly glare. After that, he could only feel helpless, utterly helpless. He truly had no idea what these children were thinking.
Standing nearby, Anya heard her Twilight dad think, I was going to ask her to be my wife, but I'd better forget it.
Yor thought, I was going to ask him to be my boyfriend and come to the party with me, but I'd better forget it.
Anya, the little queen of gossip who loved stirring up trouble, couldn't possibly let an assassin and a spy miss their chance to get together. She immediately began her performance. "Anya is so lonely without a mother. Anya really wishes she had a mother by her side."
Anya hugged herself, like an unnoticed little blade of grass swaying in the wind, lonely and forlorn.
Yor plucked up her courage and asked, "Is your wife no longer with you?"
Twilight smiled, sensing an opening. "Yes, she passed away two years ago. I'm raising my son and daughter on my own now."
A blush spread across Yor's face, and she felt a little shy. Then I won't risk getting killed for asking him.
Anya kept up her act, hugging her arms.
Once his measurements were finished, Richie rushed over from behind Anya.
He was sprinting so fast that he couldn't stop even when he reached her. "Aaaah-Anya, get out of the way!"
Yor and Twilight stepped forward at the same time, hoping to prevent the collision.
A man's voice and a woman's overlapped as they both cried, "Watch out!"
The family of four piled on top of one another like a human pyramid. Elegant, elegant-truly far too elegant.
