At the rescue center beside the station, a pet adoption event was in full swing.
Cats, dogs, rabbits...
They huddled by the railings with sparkling eyes, waiting for someone to come and adopt them.
People bustled through the vast venue, all hoping to give a helpless little animal a safe home.
Holding Richie's hand in one hand and Anya's in the other, Yor arrived with the two children and couldn't help marveling:
"So this is an adoption event. It's huge!"
Anya and Richie gaped, beside themselves with excitement.
The cats and dogs were just so cute.
Yor was still a little puzzled. "Why didn't Mr. Loid come here first thing?"
Anya and Richie had already leaned against the railings beside the cats and dogs, picking out pets they liked.
Anya hopped from enclosure to enclosure, while Richie focused on playing with the cats.
Yor gently took hold of Anya and Richie and told them softly:
"Anya, Richie, don't run around, okay? You'll get lost. Both of you, listen carefully.
Anya, you must stay in the dog area. Richie, you must stay in the cat area."
Anya and Richie nodded mechanically. "Got it!"
Richie won over all the cats with ease. Perhaps it was thanks to mind reading, but he always knew just how to charm each one.
Yor leaned over the railing, spotted a puppy, and couldn't help exclaiming:
"A dachshund! Its legs are so short. It's adorable!"
Anya displayed astonishing powers of comprehension. "Short legs are cute, so Anya is cute too."
Beside her, Richie was lost in delight. "Ragdoll cats, British shorthairs, American shorthairs, small tabby cats... pspsps.
Which one should I pick? It's so hard to choose!"
Yor stopped a staff member and asked, "Excuse me, which breeds of cats or dogs are easier to look after?"
