Background
Zhou Yuan was originally a Human Race youth who had never left Divine Capital Luoyang. An elder's explanation of Grand Unity Golden Immortals and the Primordial World's brutal conflicts overturns his assumptions about reality and motivates him to cultivate for survival. During a Demon Race assault on Luoyang, he learns that humans are sacrificed to maintain the Witch-Slaying Sword, strengthening his concern for the Human Race. 2 3
He retains memories of a past life on Earth. After Yi Zi and Fang Yun explain their origins, Zhou Yuan concludes that the novels and films from his former world reflected real worlds created after Pangu opened heaven and earth. 26 Later, a being stronger than Hongjun reveals Earth to him and declares that Zhou Yuan does not belong in the Primordial World. 284
The World-Breaking Bead establishes his position as the Human Ancestor: returned transmigrators instinctively recognize his identity, and powerful figures increasingly gather beneath the Human Race Sacred Court. 27 51
Appearance
Zhou Yuan is initially identified as a young Human Race man. He is repeatedly treated as notably handsome by others, including the Princess of the Spirit Bodies. 51 357
- His bearing becomes solemn and majestic when empowered by Human Dao fortune. 56
- His eyes are described as deep enough to seem to contain a vast world. 113
- He is often seen in flowing robes, standing with his hands behind his back. 311
Personality
Zhou Yuan is defined by his refusal to accept the Human Race's former subjugation. He confronts Saints such as Nuwa and Laozi directly, rejects their authority over humanity, and treats the Human Race's independence as non-negotiable. 51 82 87
He is pragmatic and frequently ruthless toward enemies. He punishes Xuan Du for repudiating the Human Race, orders the execution and eternal suppression of hostile demons, and uses deception to manipulate adversaries when direct force is unnecessary. 113 312 338 369
Despite this severity, he distinguishes between enemies and innocents. He spares demons without sin, refuses to exploit the Dragon King of the East Sea's offerings, prevents the killing of Nuwa over karmic concerns, and saves countless lives by relocating them to the Sacred Court. 123 179 316 343
He is highly curious about hidden histories, treasures, cultivation methods, and the unresolved question of his own connection to Pangu. 277 284 389 392
