  • Scale: Later descriptions place hundreds of thousands of Immortal Domains beneath each heaven and at least a hundred thousand star clusters beneath each domain 1662 1678.
  • Interstellar travel: Golden Immortals can roam the void between stars; lower-level immortals also travel aboard immortal ships and starships 1015 1057 1116.

Immortal Enclosures

  • Nature: Immortal Enclosures are vast landmasses floating among the stars, rather than individual planets 1189.
  • Size and resources: An enclosure visited by He Pingsheng is described as countless trillions of times larger than an ordinary star and contains abundant Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures 1193.
  • Rulership: Enclosures in the Celestial Pleiades Star System are occupied by Supreme Unity Golden Immortals. The largest houses Immortal King Celestial Pleiades, whose cultivation is at the peak of that realm 1189.
  • Formation: According to legend, primordial purplish-red light coalesced into the first enclosures 1193.
  • Instability: Enclosures can collapse or explode into countless stars. A western section’s collapse destroys or displaces immortal cities and sends Profound Immortals and Golden Immortals fleeing 1193 1217.

Immortal Domain Abysses

  • Central vortex: Each Immortal Domain has a slowly rotating Void Vortex, also called a Void Abyss or Immortal Domain Abyss, around which surrounding star clusters revolve 1418 1443.
  • Lesser Vehicle Heaven: An artificially created world, generally an enormous planet, stands above the abyss and serves as the domain’s central seat and its Dao Lord’s Daoist grounds 1418 1443.
  • Danger: Before their destination becomes known, the abysses are believed to trap even Dao Origin cultivators permanently 1443.
  • Actual destination: The Immortal Realm’s abyssal vortices converge on one vortex in the Profound Demon Heavenly Ruins 1541 1607.

Cultivation and World Laws

  • Golden Immortal threshold: Reaching Golden Immortal removes the limit imposed by natural lifespan, but does not prevent death through violence or entanglement in cause and effect 1014.
  • Talent reshaping: At Golden Immortal, bloodline awakens and becomes the measure of talent. Fortune is reshaped, allowing previously exceptional ascenders to become ordinary and previously unremarkable cultivators to gain extraordinary foundations 1014 1191.
  • Attribute prevalence: Ninety-nine percent of cultivators practice attributes related to the five elements 1532.
  • Rank etiquette: Titles correspond to cultivation realms, and lower-ranked immortals are expected to address higher-ranked cultivators as seniors 1154 1184.

Ascension and Immortal Transformation

  • Ascension requirement: A cultivator at the peak of Mahayana can ascend after another breakthrough 524.
  • Arrival point: An ascension envoy states that arrivals at Ascension Pools are random unless an artifact such as an Immortal Ascension Stele fixes the destination 1001.
  • Observed clustering: He Pingsheng later notices that ascenders from the same lower realm almost always arrive within the same star cluster, although he identifies Ming Yue as an exception 1468.
  • Immortal transformation: Ascenders must convert their true spirit energy into immortal spirit energy. Without this conversion, their internal power does not properly match the Immortal Realm’s laws, preventing the use of many divine abilities 982.
  • Conversion time: An ordinary immortal using an ordinary transformation method can complete the process in roughly three days; superior methods can work faster 998.
  • Language: The realm has its own writing and speech, which He Pingsheng learns from the speck of light left by Cui Jue 990.

Immortal Arts and Divine Abilities

  • Immortal arts: One of the realm’s two principal categories of offensive and defensive techniques 1188.
  • Mystic Sect divine abilities: Require support from Great Dao Arts and are therefore normally available only from Golden Immortal onward 1188.
  • Early access: A Spirit-Writing Heaven-Connecting Pill can open a Profound Immortal’s heaven-and-earth passage early, allowing Great Dao comprehension before Golden Immortal 1188.
  • Body-cultivation exception: He Pingsheng’s Thirty-Six Heaven-Opening Fists do not follow the same requirements as Mystic Sect divine abilities 1188.
  • Preserving lower-realm laws: The Dao-Stabilizing Heavenly Stele must be used while still a Human Immortal. It preserves Spirit Realm laws as a foundation for later Great Dao comprehension and adaptation of old divine abilities 1057.

Time Flow

Comparison Time Relationship Consequence
Spirit Realm to Immortal Realm Roughly 100 Spirit Realm years pass for every Immortal Realm year 1014. A Human Immortal’s 10,000-year lifespan corresponds to approximately one million Spirit Realm years 1014.
Immortal Realm to Divine Realm 100 Immortal Realm years pass for every Divine Realm year 1769. He Pingsheng’s absence of a little over a century in the Divine Realm lasts 13,622 years for Luo Bingyao 1769.
  • Temporal vulnerability: Using the Thousand Mechanisms Divine Diagram in the Profound Demon Heavenly Ruins for more than ten breaths would throw the Immortal Realm’s time into disarray 1693.

Reincarnation and the Underworld

Fengdu Immortal Domain

  • Jurisdiction: Fengdu oversees reincarnation for Human, Earth, Heaven, and Profound Immortals, as well as beings from the countless lower Spirit Realms and Cultivation Worlds 1524.
  • Soul collection: The Yellow Springs branches into lower worlds to draw in the souls of the dead 1524.
  • Guardians: Great Emperor Fengdu and several other Dao Lords guard the Underworld under Sage Earth Sovereign’s authority 1524 1543.
  • Reincarnation process: Souls undergo judgment, pass through the Eighteen-Layer Hell, drink Granny Meng’s Soup, and enter reincarnation 1680.
  • New souls: Souls also arise naturally; reincarnation is not the sole source of living beings’ souls 1680.

High-Level Rebirth

  • Direct reincarnation: High-level immortals can bypass the Underworld. Their Immortal Soul Light may enter a living creature’s body or attach itself to a Heavenly Material or Earthly Treasure awaiting transformation 1469.
  • What survives: This process can preserve part of the immortal’s fortune, foundation, Spirit Root, and talent, but normally erases ninety-nine percent of their memories 1469.
  • Alternative: Soul Seizure is another documented form of rebirth 1469.

Cosmology

Origin

A creation legend holds that the Immortal Realm began as an empty space without time, matter, or light. Someone placed three thousand complete Great Dao Orders within it; their fragmentation produced laws, origins, matter, and eventually living beings. The account is explicitly presented as an unverified legend 1430.

He Pingsheng later discovers that the Immortal Realm and Demonic Realm formed from a fallen god’s body. After reaching the Divine Realm, he identifies that being as a Divine General and explains that the Immortal Realm evolved from the deceased god’s energy and rules 1640 1769.

Fourth Realm Closely adjoins the other three worlds, but its passage is hidden in nothingness and cannot be detected by ordinary Sages 1640 1748.
Divine Realm Higher world in which the Immortal Realm is classified as a Lesser World 1769.

Ninefold Heavens

  • Ascension barrier: Primordial Unity rulers study how to break through the Ninefold Heavens, open Heaven’s Gate, and ascend to the Divine Realm 1515.
  • Chaos Order: Ming Yue argues that Sages must risk fusing with Chaos Order to escape their confinement beneath heaven; he previously suffered the Heavenly Dao’s backlash after fusing with six strands 1732.
  • Later accessibility: Once Chaos Order no longer exists in the Ninefold Heavens, the astral winds disappear. Thousands of cultivators can then climb into a region previously inaccessible to many 1807.

  • Commerce: Major cities contain commerce associations, shops, teahouses, and trading venues. Auctions can involve barter with cultivation methods, immortal artifacts, spirit liquids, Dao origins, and immortal fruits 1322 1531.

Later History

The Heavenly Ruins Become Known

After He Pingsheng falls into an Immortal Domain Abyss, he discovers that the supposedly inescapable vortices lead to the Profound Demon Heavenly Ruins. News eventually spreads through the Immortal Realm, prompting immortals fleeing enemies or hardship to enter deliberately. Qiao Huizhu suspects Message Transmission Immortal Talismans helped transmit the discovery 1541 1589.

He Pingsheng’s Internal World

After attaining sufficient cultivation and comprehension of Chaos Orders, He Pingsheng becomes able to traverse all four connected worlds freely. He later no longer needs their passages and can appear anywhere within them by thought 1748 1769.

He reveals to his family that the Immortal Realm is now nurtured inside his body and will endure as long as he survives. Its inhabitants are nevertheless vulnerable to Divine Realm power: three breaths during an attempted cultivation session nearly tear the realm apart 1769 1782.

Changes in Rulership

Central Pole and Everlasting Life lose their fortune and fall to Dao Origin. He Tianya and He Tianyu receive the Heavenly Dao’s fortune and become Primordial Unity Sages. At that point, the Immortal Realm’s six Sages are Gouchen, Earth Sovereign, Ziwei, the Grand Ancestor of the Great Void, He Tianya, and He Tianyu 1821.

By He Pingsheng’s later visit, He Tianya rules the Immortal Realm, while He Tianyu also holds his own territory. Both prefer to remain rather than ascend. He Pingsheng refuses to permit their children and disciples to ascend until he reaches the Titled Divine Emperor Realm and can protect them 2099.

He Pingsheng subsequently wanders through every Immortal Domain and across every star, concealing his identity and living as figures ranging from ordinary alchemists to regional patriarchs 2100.
