Somewhere in the first layer of the Spirit Realm, high in the sky, Firstborn hovered beneath the black mist with his Walking Stick, looking down at the ruins below.
One hand lightly held Lin En's arm, keeping him suspended in midair beside him-he had originally wanted to put an arm around his waist, but after giving the likelihood of getting beaten up considerable thought, he had decided not to try.
"Right underground."
He looked down.
"According to the list the Void Consortium gave me, the Crimson Secret Cult has seven or eight strongholds in Clockwork City in the Spirit Realm alone. Add their intelligence hubs outside Clockwork City and their stations hidden in the real world, and there are at least fifty. That should tell you how much control they have over this region."

Firstborn rubbed his cheek and said softly:

Your older brother probably wanted to do it too, but I helped you beat him to it. You know, this is generally how you get the initial capital you need to establish an organization."
