"What a loving father and dutiful son, what devoted brothers!"
Inside the Government Hall, the Winged People officials all stared wide-eyed.
However.
Jiang You still found something puzzling about it.
Amigel's old wounds might not have healed, but he was a Demigod! How could he have died so easily?
The Seventeenth Prince who had entered the Imperial Palace certainly lacked that kind of power.
Then who had killed Emperor Amigel?
Jiang You was utterly baffled.
Inside the Administrative Chamber.
Once their surprise faded, several Winged People officials looked delighted.
During Goblin Emperor Amigel's reign, he had held the continent in check. None of its peoples had dared defy him.
He had weighed on everyone like a mountain.
Now that he was dead, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Then ideas they had never entertained before began to surface.
The officials offered their suggestions one after another.
"My King, with Amigel dead, could the Goblin Empire fall apart?"
"As a Demigod, Amigel was the bedrock of the Goblin Empire! Now that he's dead, the Goblin Empire is bound to descend into chaos. My King, why don't we take this chance to push west and expand our territory, so we can accommodate a larger population in the future?"
"Exactly. Rosendas may be vast, but it's still only one corner of Ferland. We need more resources and land!"
"My King, without a Demigod holding the Goblin Empire together, the peoples of the continent won't let this opportunity slip by. We could certainly get involved!"
"My King, I believe that if we contact the other peoples of the continent, our combined number of Legendaries and the quality of our armies might well rival the goblins!"
"My King..."
Seated at the head of the hall, Jiang You watched the Winged People officials below voice their opinions, approval welling in his eyes.
It was an excellent sign that the Winged People could boldly consider their people's interests without fearing offense to the goblins, the continent's current overlords.
But he knew that this was far from the right time to compete for the continent's resources.
In the future, the historical records of the elven kingdom in the Fifth Chapter stated that the Goblin Empire had endured for a full three thousand years!
During those three thousand years, the person who had influenced the Goblin Empire most profoundly was not its first Goblin Emperor, Amigel, but the goblins' Great Sage, Azeba!
Much was missing from the historical records, but their account of Great Sage Azeba read:
"During the Titan and Dragon Chapter, the goblin Great Sage Azeba was born in a small mountain village in central Ferland. Exceptionally gifted from childhood, he was sent by his people to the Goblin King Court, where the goblin sage Arigo took him as his apprentice."
"Azeba was generous and kind, wise, skilled at planning, and possessed extraordinary foresight."
"When Goblin Emperor Amigel was still a youth, Azeba recognized his promise and supported him."
"The subsequent records were unclear. But there was another remarkable detail: before the Goblin Empire was founded, Azeba acquired a wealth of precious knowledge and treasures in a hidden location in the north!"
"This enabled the Goblin Empire to rise!"
"Great Sage Azeba lived until the final years of the Goblin Empire. Whenever the Goblin Empire faced a crisis, the Great Sage stepped forward to restore order, allowing the empire to weather it safely."
"Without a doubt, after Amigel's death, the goblin Great Sage Azeba was the true uncrowned king of the Goblin Empire!"
The mere fact that he had lived for three thousand years was enough to invite speculation.
Given the goblins' natural lifespan, a Legendary could not live for three thousand years!
Emerging from his thoughts, Jiang You looked at his officials below. Meeting their expectant gazes, he nodded, then shook his head and said with a smile.
"Edward, Miland, Shaman, Wayne, Limiel... you've all made good points. I'm pleased that you've thought of these things."
"But the timing is wrong!"
"The Goblin Empire isn't as simple as it appears. It still has considerable reserves of strength. I suspect it may well have another Demigod hidden behind the scenes!"
"So, for now, our people need only hold their position!"
Seeing the thoughtful looks on the officials' faces inside the Government Hall, Jiang You nodded and gave an order to one of the Winged People men.
"Jomora!"
"Send people to gather news in Proadas day and night, and keep us informed."
"Yes, my King!"
Jomora accepted the order and left the Government Hall to make arrangements.
The remaining officials continued their work.
Jiang You headed out of the White Stone Fortress. Before leaving the room, he turned to the Winged People woman Limiel and asked.
"By the way, Limiel, where is your younger sister Sophia now?"
Sophia was the gifted class holder who had advanced the Light Swordsman class into the Hero Tier Light Emissary.
"My King, Sophia left for the Southern Fairy Forest a few months ago to celebrate her friend the Light Fairy's fifteen-hundredth birthday!"
"How old? Fifteen hundred!"
Jiang You froze for a moment.
These fairies really did live a long time...
"All right, Limiel. Sophia is our people's most promising Legendary prospect. Make sure she stays safe!"
Jiang You waved a hand.
He always gave special consideration to his people's talents.
Only a few hundred years had passed since the Winged People evolved from the Eaglefolk. Though their ancestors had all soaked in a little titan blood, it had merely given the Eaglemen of High Barbarian Mountain, who originally had no transcendent aptitude whatsoever, the potential to become transcendent.
Even now, the Winged People's transcendent potential was roughly on par with that of the goblins.
Fifty million goblins had produced only a few dozen Legendaries. The five hundred thousand Winged People still had work to do.
Sophia carried Jiang You's hopes!
Having brought up the subject, Jiang You turned to the young Winged People male official seated in the middle.
"Wayne, have any transcendent talents emerged among our people lately?"
"My King, there is one!"
"Oh? Who?"
"Well, she's Limiel and Sophia's younger sister, Evita!"
Wayne said with a smile.
"Evita has exceptional talent and comprehension in the light element. She's already a class holder at just thirteen!"
Jiang You couldn't help turning his gaze back into the room toward the proud-looking Limiel, praising her.
"Three outstanding talents in one family, Limiel. Excellent! Excellent! All of you must keep working hard. I hope the first Legendary among our Winged People besides me will come from your family."
"Limiel, your full name is Limiel Lie, isn't it?"
"You have a good memory, my King!"
"So you're A Lie's descendants. Three hundred years have passed before I knew it. The companions of those days have so many descendants now!"
Jiang You sighed.
