Power Progression
The documented bloodline changes chiefly concern Jiang You and the High Barbarian Mountain lineage, not the entire Eaglemen race.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Four-legged Eagles → Eaglemen | 3 | The Titan Giants’ gifts of enlightenment transformed their ancestors into an intelligent race. |
| Transcendent Eagleman; mutating bloodline | 6 7 | Jiang You awakened Thunder Power and Champion’s Will after bathing in Titan and dragon blood. His beak fell away, his limbs became more humanlike, and white feathers appeared among his gray-black plumage. |
| Thunder Wielder | 10 11 | Jiang You created his own class path around Thunder Power and gained an Elite NPC Template. |
| Second transcendent tier | 12 | Jiang You reached the second tier before confronting and defeating the Royal Court’s Wind Messenger. |
| Completely mutated bloodline → Winged Person | 15 | Blood from a Light Female Titan, moderated by the Blue Stone, completed Jiang You’s racial transformation and awakened light power. He named the new race the Winged People. |
| Gradual tribal bloodline transformation | 16 | Weekly bathing in a Titan-blood pool changed the Paradise Mountain tribe’s beaks, feathers, hands, and feet. No additional tribespeople became Transcendents during the following twenty years. |
| Established Winged People lineage | 19 | After a century of change, newborns resembled Jiang You and retained no trace of the former Eaglemen appearance. The tribe developed light-aspected classes and formally separated from the Eaglemen. |
Appearance and Biology
- Face and body: Humanlike faces with bird beaks, feather-covered bodies, and wings 1.
- Extremities: Clawed hands and eaglelike feet; messengers could carry spears in their talons 1 5.
- Plumage: Commonly gray-black. Elderly tribespeople could have gray-white wings, while King Lecлис had deep black plumage 1 2 31.
- Maturity: Sixteen was considered adulthood 3.
- Aging: Ordinary Eaglemen lived roughly fifty years. Their Legendary king survived for nine hundred years but suffered declining strength despite still appearing middle-aged 16 32.
History
Origins and Mountain Settlements
The Eaglemen descended from Four-legged Eagles that received enlightenment from the Titan Giants. Their ancestors preyed on Two-legged Snakes, the ancestors of the Snake People. After both became intelligent races, overlapping territories sustained their rivalry, while the Snake People’s faster reproduction and archery reduced the Eaglemen’s former advantage 3.
Eaglemen traditionally inhabited mountains, favoring cliffs and caves carved with stone tools. Heavenly Mountain was their ancestral seat and housed the Royal Court. The High Barbarian Mountain Tribe originated from descendants of a gifted prince whose father, the old Eaglemen King, destroyed his transcendent path to protect his own rule. The prince committed suicide, and his descendants were banished 3 32.
Royal Rule and Conscription
The Royal Court governed hundreds of thousands of Eaglemen and imposed military levies on outlying tribes approximately every ten years. High Barbarian Mountain, with barely two hundred inhabitants, was ordered to provide fifty warriors and reach the Vast Sea Forest within thirteen days. Failure to meet either requirement carried the threat of extermination 1 2 4.
Royal society sharply distinguished Transcendent nobles from ordinary tribespeople. Newly awakened Transcendents were encouraged to bring their families to the resource-rich Royal Court and abandon their tribes. Royal soldiers described tribesfolk as expendable, while deserters were executed and displayed on stakes 5 8.
Tribal Eaglemen served as scouts and frontline cannon fodder in the Titan–dragon wars. Following Yateli’s victory over the Blue Dragon King, fewer than one in ten tribal Eaglemen in the conscript camp remained alive. Jiang You’s contingent retained around thirty wounded survivors, with bronze armor helping limit their losses 8 9.
High Barbarian Mountain’s Breakaway
After Chieftain Yi failed to return from war, the tribe chose his son Jiang You as its new leader. Over seven years, Jiang You replaced cave dwellings with wooden houses, built a communal water pool and defensive wall, and introduced bronze weapons, tools, utensils, and lightweight armor. He also destroyed a neighboring Snake People tribe to secure a copper deposit 2 3.
When the Royal Court later demanded every able-bodied adult, Jiang You killed its envoy and led the tribe east. They reached the eastern coast a month later and settled on Paradise Mountain. Repeated exposure to Titan blood eventually transformed this lineage into the Winged People, who formally declared their separation from the Eaglemen 11 12 13 16 19.
Fall of the Royal Court
The Royal Court remained loyal to Yateli after the devastating Titan–dragon war, rejected a Goblin envoy, and condemned the Goblins’ rebellion. Eaglemen subsequently fought among the Titan faction’s aerial forces at Proadas, where the Winged People’s high-altitude archery defeated a much larger force of Eaglemen and flying beasts 20 21 28.
After the alliance victory, the Royal Court sought permission to surrender to Amigel. Jiang You refused to delay his assault on Heavenly Mountain. The defenders had already lost half their supernatural class holders in the preceding war, leaving them unable to overcome the Winged People’s ranged tactics 31.
Jiang You defeated and beheaded King Lecлис, the Eaglemen’s only Legendary. The king’s death triggered a rout, and the pursuing Winged People left tens of thousands dead. Heavenly Mountain passed to the Winged People, who buried the bodies and planned to establish a mountain city there 31 32 33 35.
Surviving Remnants
During the Royal Court’s collapse, a cloaked figure persuaded Prince Ferd to escape with a promise of help rebuilding the court. Goblin advisers had already argued that surviving Eaglemen could prevent the Winged People from becoming the continent’s uncontested intelligent aerial power 30 33.
In year six of the Goblin Empire calendar, up to ten thousand royal remnants were reported in the northern Bulos Mountains under the old king’s ninth prince. They visited nearby Bulos City annually. Jiang You suspected Goblin support but left them alone while prioritizing the Winged People’s development 43.
Abilities & Skills
Flight
- Eaglemen used flight for hunting, reconnaissance, patrols, and aerial combat 1 2 5.
- Ordinary warriors were weak compared with magical flying creatures: a single griffin could hold a fifty-member scouting party to a standstill 6.
- Wing injuries could cripple their mobility. Losing both wings cut the Wind Messenger envoy’s strength in half and deprived him of his exceptional speed 12.
Transcendence and Class Paths
- Eaglemen could obtain a class path by creating one themselves or inheriting it through their bloodline 8.
- Transcendence was uncommon enough that awakened Eaglemen were treated as valuable royal assets rather than ordinary conscripts 8.
- High Barbarian Mountain originally had no tribespeople with transcendent aptitude. Its descendants’ Titan-blood treatment eventually created that potential, rather than immediately making everyone Transcendent 16 48.
| Class / Path | Documented Rank or Function | Limits and Notable Users |
|---|---|---|
| Messenger | First transcendent tier; couriers assigned to nearby destinations 12 | An inherited class belonging to a single Eaglemen family 12. |
| Wind Messenger | Advanced Messenger class used for distant assignments 12 | Exceptional speed; the envoy sent to High Barbarian Mountain held this class 12. |
| Windwalker | Third transcendent stage of the Messenger path 12 | The family had only one, usually requisitioned to carry messages between Titans and other races. No stronger stage was documented for the path 12. |
| Sky Warrior → Storm King | Royal family’s complete path to Legendary 8 31 | King Lecлис was its only documented Legendary. He refused to share the royal advancement with talented Eaglemen outside his descendants 32. |
Storm Power
- King Lecлис’s Storm Domain generated wind spears and imposed Legendary pressure on opponents 32.
- His Storm Lord trait enhanced his control over storms 34.
- His advanced age limited sustained combat; Jiang You exploited this while evading his attacks 32.
Weapon Handling
- Eaglemen fought with spears and swords, including bronze weapons introduced at High Barbarian Mountain 1 3.
- Their sharp claws prevented them from mastering archery. This left them vulnerable to the human-handed Winged People’s long-range volleys 3 21 28.
Equipment and Material Culture
- Stone and bone spears: Used by tribal warriors, royal soldiers, envoys, and the Eaglemen King 1 4 8 32.
- Animal-hide clothing: High Barbarian Mountain initially wore crude hides; royal soldiers also wore wolf or bear hides 1 5 6.
- Bronze equipment: Jiang You equipped his tribe with spears, swords, axes, cooking vessels, and other utensils 3.
- Lightweight bronze armor: Protected the chest, arms, and head. Back coverage was restricted by wings, and weight had to remain low enough for flight 3.
- Flight-accessible houses: High Barbarian Mountain’s wooden homes had roof and cliff-facing entrances; former caves became storerooms 3.
- Windfeather Jade Dew: A royal reward used to awaken spirit sight and assist a newly awakened Transcendent in designing a class 8.
Later-Era Fate
- In Jiang You’s memories of the game’s fifth chapter, Eaglefolk had lost their intelligent-race status and heritage, become weak monsters, and were unavailable as a playable race. This is his knowledge of the later era, distinct from the surviving royal remnants shown in the ancient storyline 1 8 43.
