Bai Yaoyao had not expected the girl's complaint to involve her group. She looked at the girl who had spoken again. Hmm, she doesn't seem all that pretty anymore. Our Lulu is still the prettiest.

Meng Qilin's face nearly turned black. He had finally managed to secure some powerful backing, only for someone to stir up trouble. He was just about to speak when someone else jumped in first.

Li Pengliang shouted, "What business is it of yours? My idol can eat whatever she wants! You're the one sticking your nose into everything. If it weren't for the Dark Night Squad, the zombies would've eaten you already. You think you'd still be standing here running your damn mouth?

You happily eat what you're given, then turn around and curse the people who fed you. You've really outdone yourself, Lin Yiran!"

The man behind Lin Yiran stepped forward, shielding her behind him. "Watch your mouth, Li Pengliang, unless you want to die!" Then he glared at the members of the Dark Night Squad.

"Wow, Sister Yao, have we been acting too easygoing? Now every random nobody thinks they can walk all over us. Damn." Monkey unconsciously rolled his wrists.

The other members of Dark Night looked eager to jump in, too. Most of them had fiery tempers. You falsely accuse us, then glare at us? Yeah, I'm not putting up with that.

Seeing how things were going, Meng Qilin hurriedly said, "You've misunderstood. Captain Bai Yaoyao of the Dark Night Squad invited me to breakfast this morning. Captain Bai prepared all the food, too. I was the one mooching a meal."

Lin Yiran gave a affected little smile. "Oh, so that's how it was. How amusing."

Bai Yaoyao suddenly gave Li Pengliang a proper look. Good kid. He'd make a decent mouthpiece. After all, she really had no interest in playing games with these youngsters. She just wanted to kill zombies and level up!

Only A-Dai stood there utterly bewildered, staring at Bai Yaoyao with sweat covering his forehead. Holy shit, this tattletale is such a bitch!

Sister Yao won't let me be picky, but I don't want to eat Chinese chives. I only want the bun wrapper with a little chive flavor! I waited until she went back inside before secretly throwing away the filling, and now I've been fucking exposed in front of all these people!

Bai Yaoyao sensed A-Dai's gaze and gave him a casual glance. "Be good, A-Dai," she said gently. "Your Kids' Meal has already waved goodbye to you. You won't be seeing it again this month, at the very least."

"Sister Yao, boohoo, I was wrong!" A-Dai clutched Bai Yaoyao's sleeve pitifully.

"Too late, sweetie." Bai Yaoyao ruffled A-Dai's soft hair, then turned away and ignored him.

A-Dai licked his lips dejectedly and shot a hostile glance at the girl who had just run her mouth.

His gaze startled Lin Yiran. She lost her footing and stumbled back into the man's arms. How could a little kid look at someone with such viciousness?

The man followed Lin Yiran's gaze and said to A-Dai, "What, you little brat? Looking for trouble? Come over here if you've got the guts!"

A-Dai smiled without saying a word.

The moment the other members of Dark Night saw A-Dai's expression, they understood. Those two would have a hard time staying alive.

Everyone knew the hardest person to cross in Dark Night was Bai Yaoyao, followed by A-Dai. That kid really held a grudge.

So they stopped paying attention. Let those two grasshoppers hop around a little longer. Assassins made a point of leaving no evidence when they killed. They weren't bandits or idiots who showed off how ruthless they were in front of a crowd.

Afraid the Dark Night Squad would get angry, Meng Qilin loudly reprimanded them. "If the Aiyi Alliance keeps stirring up trouble, get out, and don't come back to the Safe Zone! We can manage just fine without your team!"

After speaking, Meng Qilin gave Bai Yaoyao an embarrassed look. This was all his fault for being greedy for good food.

Bai Yaoyao shook her head at Meng Qilin, indicating that she did not mind.

Only after the Aiyi Squad fell silent did Meng Qilin continue. "We have limited time. Stop making trouble for me every day. Anyone who doesn't like it here can leave!

"Now for the assignments. The Dark Night Squad will handle the eight residential compounds near Zhenglin Avenue.

"The Fierce Tiger Gang will handle the three residential compounds on Shuitian Road.

"The Little Crab Dream Team will handle the four residential compounds on Funiu Road.

"The Aiyi Alliance will handle the four residential compounds on Ruian Road.

"The Deep Night Squad will handle the five residential compounds on Taikang Road."

"Which one's the Deep Night Squad? Why does that name sound like such a knockoff?" Xiaomi asked in bewilderment.

Li Pengliang raised his hand and said sheepishly, "Hehe, that's us! We thought the Dark Night Squad was so cool, we picked a similar name."

Xiaomi gave him a thumbs-up and said no more. They were fans, after all. Fine, no need to embarrass them.

"Those are today's assignments. Does anyone have any questions?" Meng Qilin asked after finishing.

"Captain Meng!" Lin Yiran called out again.

"What is it now?" Meng Qilin asked impatiently.

"Their Dark Night Squad only has twelve people. Isn't it inappropriate to put them in charge of Zhenglin Avenue with its eight residential compounds? Our squad has twenty-seven people, and we have more than twelve Ability Users alone." Lin Yiran looked at Bai Yaoyao doubtfully as she spoke.

Lin Yiran did not know why, but she simply could not stand the Dark Night Squad. Partly it was because they had eaten so well that morning, and partly because all four girls in their team were pretty. Especially their leader, the one dressed all in black. Brother Wu had looked at her several times already.

Brother Wu was a rare dual-ability user with both a lightning ability and a strength ability. She had finally managed to latch onto someone powerful, and she could not let him be seduced away. That was why she kept finding ways to target the Dark Night Squad.

Bai Yaoyao gave this stupid, loudmouthed woman another proper look. This fucking woman just won't stop. She had been eager to head out and kill zombies and had not wanted to waste words on her, but apparently the woman had gotten addicted to running her mouth.

Before Meng Qilin could speak, Bai Yaoyao used Teleportation to appear beside her and clamped a hand hard around Lin Yiran's throat. Smiling, she said, "Well, little girl? Any more objections?"

Lin Yiran was scared senseless. Belatedly remembering that she had an ability too, she had barely released a tiny flame when Bai Yaoyao snapped her fingers, producing a cigarette in her hand. She lit it with Lin Yiran's flame and calmly took a drag.

Looking at Bai Yaoyao right in front of her, with that composed demeanor and cold expression, Lin Yiran suspected that if she said even one more wrong word, this woman really would kill her in front of everyone!

Lin Yiran suddenly grew frightened. She turned to look for Brother Wu, only to find him bound in vines, even his mouth covered. Only his two wide, round eyes remained visible, bulging and bloodshot from the tight bindings.

"S-sorry," Lin Yiran stammered. "I... I didn't... know. I... I was wrong... Sorry, sorry!"

Brother Wu, who had been so arrogant just moments earlier, writhed desperately, his expression pleading for forgiveness too.
