Background / History

Xiaomi grew up with the other members of Dark Night and underwent Master’s harsh training. Their pre-apocalypse work generally involved short assassinations built around concealment, timing, and explosive action rather than prolonged battles. Xiaomi operated in Southeast Asia year-round and maintained connections capable of obtaining powerful explosives 3 19 24.

In Bai Yaoyao’s previous life, he never awakened an ability. His combat instincts and firearms initially allowed him to keep pace, but he gradually became quieter as he felt increasingly unable to contribute. When a zombie horde surrounded the group, he charged into it carrying a bomb, sacrificing himself to blast open an escape route for his companions 3 14.

After Bai Yaoyao’s rebirth, Xiaomi helped her prepare without initially knowing about the apocalypse. He reunited with the group at its fortified villa in H City, where Bai Yaoyao renamed the Dark Night Killer Organization the Dark Night Squad. He subsequently learned about her rebirth and the coming disaster 10 11.

Personality

Xiaomi is cheerful, irreverent, and quick to tease his companions. He jokes about Stone’s improvised defenses, questions Doggie’s intelligence, and continues joking even after exhausting himself in training. His concern for others also appears in small gestures, such as pouring Keke water while teasing him about Master’s punishments 19 25 26 46.

Behind his apparently careless manner, Xiaomi is fiercely competitive and afraid of holding the squad back. Having only a speed ability drives him to train relentlessly and deliberately engage several zombies at once in hopes of awakening another power. His willingness to cover the group’s retreat is sincere, which makes such promises especially painful for Bai Yaoyao, who remembers his earlier sacrifice 27 29 32.

Awakens after Xiaomi drinks Spring Water. Bai Yaoyao identifies it as a special ability with cleansing potential rather than a fixed set of moves 47.

• Xiaomi immediately asks whether it has offensive applications. Bai Yaoyao explains that these depend on how he uses the ability; no light-based attack is shown in the supplied chapters 47.

Assassin Training and Weapons

Pre-Apocalypse Stockpiling

• Arranges access to Caz287 bombs at 1019 Ida Avenue, warning Bai Yaoyao that they lack timers and would normally require helicopter support for escape 3.
• Obtains another 4,000 kilograms of granulated white sugar on the black market for her stockpile 4 5.

Awakening and University Town

• Awakens speed instead of remaining powerless as he did in the previous timeline 14.
• Kills the trapped level-two water-type zombie while it is distracted by spraying Doggie 25 26.
• Pushes himself through dangerous multi-zombie engagements while trying to awaken another ability 27.
• Attacks Wang Jianbin alongside Bai Yaoyao and A-Dai. Their knives initially fail against his Skin Hardening; after his death, Xiaomi demands the location of the remaining crystal cores 28.

Mutant Ant Battle and Residential Rescue

• Helps Bai Yaoyao and A-Dai pour oil across the road for the squad’s fire barrier, then attacks the mutant ant’s lower abdomen when its legs are restrained 32 33.
• Clears Building One with Bai Yaoyao; they are the first pair to finish. He then goes to assist Lulu and Peiqi against four level-two zombies 39 40.

Light Awakening and Hospital Mission

• Receives Spring Water after returning from a mission with shaking legs and severe exhaustion 46.
• Awakens light the next morning, adding the prospect of cleansing zombie poison to the squad’s future defenses 47.
