Her mouth hung open as she gazed at the stars before her and murmured, "Little Whale..."
"What is it?"
"...I really am the worst of the bunch!"
Little Whale: ...That's what you're focusing on?
"It's not like you only learned that today. Isn't it a little late to have a meltdown now? Besides, isn't it perfectly normal for you to be weaker than them?
"They've been awakened for years. How long has it been for you? The sheer nerve-a rookie who hasn't even been awakened for three months, trying to compare herself to these geniuses!
"Can you please remember that you're a goddamn Healing Type? A healer!"
Ye Buyu scratched her head awkwardly. "A support who doesn't want kills isn't a good support. Besides, I can't heal my teammates anyway."
Mu Bingge retreated to her side and held out a hand without turning around. A Wood Core rested in her palm. "Here's your material. Heal me."
Reality proved her wrong so fast that Ye Buyu got excited.
Her eyes lit up. Without hesitation, she took the material and high-fived Mu Bingge.
Being polite at a time like this would only waste Mu Bingge's kindness.
Smack.
The instant their palms met, a warm current flowed into Mu Bingge's body through her hand, rapidly restoring her depleted energy and even clearing away the Calamity Aura lingering around her.
She glanced at Ye Buyu in surprise, then threw herself back into killing Calamities for points.
But she was thinking that she had underestimated Ye Buyu's healing ability. She had assumed it would be like ordinary Second Tier [Life Breath], a slow healing process like a steady trickle of water.
Only after experiencing it herself did she realize that Ye Buyu's healing ability was stronger than that of an ordinary Second Tier healer. That recovery speed already rivaled a Fourth Tier Healing Type.
And Second Tier [Life Breath] couldn't possibly be this effective at removing Calamity Aura.
It felt like snow melting in flames. It was far too fast.
Ye Buyu paid none of that any mind. She simply watched in delight as Mu Bingge tore through the battlefield.
"It's been so long since I healed anyone."
Kou Ying halted as he approached. Perhaps he should find someone else after all. Ye Buyu seemed a little unhinged.
He glanced at the situation around him and abandoned that thought.
"Forget it. Finding another Healing Type would be too much trouble. With my luck, I'd run out of strength before I found one."
He walked straight up to Ye Buyu and took out several materials he had prepared. "Ye Buyu, I know we're not on the same team, but could you please heal me?"
Ye Buyu's eyes lit up again. What lucky day was this? She actually got to heal two people!
"No problem!"
Kou Ying nodded and waited for the healing glow, only to see Ye Buyu accept the materials and slap him on the shoulder.
"Ahem, weren't you going to heal me? Why are you hitting me..."
His unfinished words died away. The energy replenishing inside him showed that the healing was already complete. Kou Ying stared at Ye Buyu, dumbfounded.
"This..."
"I'm done healing you." Noticing that his gaze remained on her hand, Ye Buyu raised it and waved it. "My ability is a little unusual. It doesn't scatter any light. I just give you a slap.
"Or...you can have a bullet instead, if you want."
Ye Buyu ran her fingers over the Flower Edict and glanced at Kou Ying.
"No, no, thank you." Kou Ying was too shocked for words. "Your ability works with bullets, too?"
"Yep." Ye Buyu nodded.
"..." Kou Ying pressed his lips together. What kind of bizarre healing ability is this? I can understand a slap, but bullets? That's just too weird.
Everyone knew her ability required a mandatory payment, but they hadn't known she could heal with a gun. Recalling how the Wind-Thunder Cantor had been forced to drop materials, Kou Ying's eyes widened in shock.
"That shot you fired at the Wind-Thunder Cantor earlier wasn't an attack?"
Ye Buyu smiled. "It was healing."
Lou Guanshan, who was hacking wildly at zombies, spotted Ye Buyu and flashed a grin, calling out from afar, "Hey, you're Ye Buyu, right? Heal me, too!"
As he spoke, he kicked up the materials at his feet and tossed them over.
"Here's your payment first. I'll come over in a moment."
Lou Guanshan had barely finished speaking when a gentle voice sounded behind him.
"No need to go to all that trouble. I can heal you right now."
"Oh, really? Hey, wait, that's not right!"
His delight turned to terror in an instant.
Lou Guanshan turned around to see a bullet hurtling toward him. Frightened, he hastily angled the Mo Dao to intercept it.
Clang!
The bullet struck the Mo Dao. Lou Guanshan glared angrily at Ye Buyu. "What are you do...uh..."
His anger stalled before it could erupt. Lou Guanshan stared at his palm in astonishment and flexed his hand.
"I think...I've recovered?"
Having witnessed the whole thing, Kou Ying gaped. "It really can heal."
Ye Buyu was beside herself with excitement. This was her first successful stint on the job.
The other examinees who witnessed the scene fell silent. They glanced at Ye Buyu and abandoned any thought of asking her to heal them.
No, thanks. I'd rather not take a bullet.
Still dazed, Lou Guanshan raised his fist and punched away a Calamity lunging at him from behind, then rested the Mo Dao on his shoulder and walked toward the two of them.
Catching sight of this out of the corner of her eye, Mu Bingge kicked apart a nearby Calamity, then turned back to Ye Buyu's side and stood in front of her.
She looked at Lou Guanshan with a slight frown. Although she didn't think he was the sort to eliminate other examinees for points, she couldn't rule out the possibility that he had something else in mind.
"What do you want?"
Lou Guanshan looked eagerly at Ye Buyu and pointed to himself. "Want to team up with me? Instant healing from a distance-that ability of yours is really cool!"
Ye Buyu tilted her head. "Huh? You're not here to cause trouble?"
"What trouble? That's boring. If we're going to fight, we should do it fair and square. We've barely gotten started. We should at least clear the field first."
Lou Guanshan grinned. "Seriously, team up with me. I'll farm materials for you, and you heal me."
Mu Bingge's expression darkened. "She's my teammate."
Lou Guanshan considered that. "Oh, I see. That makes things difficult. I want to fight you, so there's no way I can team up with you."
Mu Bingge refused to budge. "Then that's too bad."
Ye Buyu looked from one to the other, unsure how things had turned out this way. But this was clearly not a good time for a standoff.
"Stop arguing, you two. Right now..."
Before she could finish, Lou Guanshan swung his blade, cutting down a lunging Calamity and leaving a gouge in the arena.
Mu Bingge flicked her long whip. A shimmering curtain of water appeared behind her, engulfing dozens of Calamities.
Ye Buyu lowered her hand and shut her mouth. When titans clashed, she had better stay out of it.
Lou Guanshan curled his lips into a grin. "Clear the field first?"
Mu Bingge's gaze was sharp. "Exactly what I had in mind."
The two turned and charged into the mass of Calamities.
Kou Ying coughed lightly. "Now we're in for a good show."
Ye Buyu opened her mouth. "This isn't my fault, right?"
"No." Kou Ying smiled. "They used to fight all the time. Along with Wan Lan, they're all rivals. You were just the spark that set off this round."
