"Yip~"
Little Fox had perked up again. After Ye Fei took them outside and spent a while indulging their playful antics, Little Fox headed off with Little White Tiger again.
They never went far, just searched the surrounding area. Whenever they found prey, they caught it, then brought it back together once they had caught two.
"The special event quest is gone now."
Ye Fei looked at the clean snow around him and the crooked trees standing in it. Those were dead trees that had survived the earlier blizzard, so they did not count as debris in the snow.
The trunks and branches that had once littered the ground everywhere had simply despawned after three days.
Still, this cleared Ye Fei's field of vision, making it easier for him to find both Supply Crates and plant seedlings.
[Dying Pine Seedling]
After searching the snow for over an hour and picking up two white Supply Crates, Ye Fei finally spotted this seedling that had sprouted amid the ice and snow.
He crouched down, dug through the snow, and unearthed the barely visible patch of green. He put the sapling, which was about twenty centimeters tall, into his inventory.
Once inside the Inventory, the dying Pine Seedling lost its dying status.
He could plant the seedling once he got home.
The two tallest pine trees at home were already over three meters tall. Ye Fei seriously wondered how much taller they would grow before stopping.
"Rawr~"
Little White Tiger, Feng Bai, returned dragging a large pheasant. Feng Bai dropped the pheasant in front of Ye Fei, gave a cry, then turned and ran off.
After Ye Fei finished off the pheasant and dismantled it to obtain a White-Feathered Chicken and feathers, he looked up and saw the two little ones dragging a large animal toward him.
[Dying wild bison, combat power 5, high defense, kick, sharp horns]
The wild bison had only a sliver of health left. It was huge, about the same size as the water buffalo Ye Fei had seen as a child.
Yet these two tiny creatures had actually dragged it all the way here?
Even with the smooth, level surface of the snow, the difference in their weight was ridiculous.
Better not to dwell on it. Comparing pets' combat power to a human's would only leave him feeling miserable.
"Yip, yip, yip~"
When Little Fox saw Ye Fei approaching, Little Fox jumped onto his shoulder and proudly pointed a little paw at the wild bison.
Ye Fei came over with his axe and struck the wild bison's still-bleeding neck twice, finally taking away its last sliver of health.
[Killed a wild bison. Survival points +5]
Seeing that it awarded five survival points outright, Ye Fei knew this wild bison must have been formidable when healthy.
Back when he had killed Snow Fox despite the enormous gap in strength, he had only received three points. Now this one had given him five...
Still, since this had not been a desperate fight like last time, there was no extra reward.
"Yip, yip, yip~"
Little Fox crouched on Ye Fei's shoulder, then, apparently unable to explain clearly, jumped down and dug a hole in the snow.
"..."
Ye Fei watched from the side. After digging a little hole, Little Fox looked around, then ran over and pushed Little White Tiger into it.
The two little creatures then acted out how they had found a wild bison trapped in a pit, how they had taken turns attacking until they finished it off, and how they had huffed and puffed while dragging it back.
"Thanks for all your hard work. Come back and rest a bit. We need to take this bison home before we butcher it."
Ye Fei stroked their heads and looked into their bright, sparkling eyes. He picked them up and tucked one into each jacket pocket before figuring out how to drag the wild bison home.
The two little ones could drag such a huge bison, but he...
He could drag it back too.
It just took a bit more effort.
After all, dragging things over ice and snow was easier. He gripped the bison's tail, slung it over his shoulder, and laboriously dragged the carcass to his front gate.
He moved the fence aside to open a path, pulled the wild bison's carcass into the yard, then put the fence back in place.
As he dragged the wild bison home, it left a red trail across the snow, stretching from the distance straight to his gate.
Ye Fei noticed it, but after some thought, he decided cleaning up the trail would be too much trouble. Besides, he wanted to see whether it could attract a wolf pack.
He had already stockpiled over a thousand units of basic timber at home. He wanted to trap and kill another wolf pack to get Beast Essence Stones as snacks for his two little companions.
Only by continuing to grow stronger could they bring home more prey.
[Wild bison carcass: harvestable]
Ye Fei began cutting into the wild bison's carcass.
He had been experimenting over the past few days. The closer his butchering technique came to the real thing, the slightly greater his material yield became, and occasionally he even got a higher-quality item.
He removed the horns first and, sure enough, obtained two green-quality horns.
He removed all four hooves, each of which counted as loot too. Next came the hide, which he carefully cut and separated bit by bit, drawing on his experience.
He cut off the entire hide in one piece, and the yield made his eyes light up.
Once he had sorted out the steaks, beef, and everything else, Ye Fei began tallying his haul from this wild bison.
[Beast horns (green) ×2, cow hooves (green) ×4, intermediate leather (green) ×5, low-level leather ×4, beef (green) ×12, beef ×8, steaks ×4, beast bones ×12, Beast Essence Stone ×1]
Even the beef came in different quality grades.
The higher-quality meat looked better, and dishes made with it had higher stats too.
The ordinary white-quality meat was much like other white-quality ingredients.
Ye Fei listed the beast horns, intermediate leather, and low-level leather for sale.
The current price of beast horns was fifteen points each, so the two would fetch thirty points.
Intermediate leather was still ten points each. Five pieces meant fifty points.
Low-level leather was still one point for two pieces. Prices had barely changed, so the four pieces would only sell for two points.
But Ye Fei did not want to stockpile these things right now. Whatever he could sell, he would sell first.
Cow hooves were ingredients too, so he made another Storage Cabinet specifically for storing assorted meats.
He now had four Storage Cabinets in his house, two of which held various ingredients and foods.
[Bread ×41, water ×35, White-Feathered Chickens ×3, rabbit meat ×14, Wild Wolf Meat ×52, beef ×8, beef (green) ×12, steaks ×4, cow hooves (green) ×4]
The other two cabinets were reserved for basic timber.
He currently had 1,782 units of basic timber stockpiled. Each cabinet had six slots, and each slot could only hold two hundred units.
Since he was keeping the basic timber for his own use instead of selling it, Ye Fei would need to put more Storage Cabinets in his home.
That was why Ye Fei wanted to see whether a wolf pack would come. He could keep using Wooden Fences to trap and kill them, stockpile more materials for his home, and trade for more survival points.
Including yesterday's earnings, he now had 443 survival points.
Yesterday's haul had been a little small, and today he had only earned five points so far. But he had listed goods worth eighty-two points for sale. If he went out and found another sapling, that would bring in over a hundred points again.
Earning points, accumulating spiritual energy, and stockpiling timber were the things Ye Fei was most interested in right now.
