Ye Lin discovered that his fused abilities had become a powerful Plasma Cannon and reasoned that the group had already met the third round’s requirement. He left An Ke with the suspicion that the exam might contain a mole, while He Zheng and the others continued defending the base.
After the relentless zombie rounds left the team exhausted, He Zheng discovered that Frank had infected him with a scratch. As Hu Jia offered an Antidote, Ye Lin questioned how many vials remained, leaving the team suspicious and alarmed.
Hu Jia watched the survivors fight through the seventh pursuit round as the zombie horde overwhelmed the base’s defenses. When a Command Mutant and more than twenty Cannon Mutants attacked, Ye Lin charged toward their leader while An Ke and the others tried to protect the Prototype.
Ye Lin discovered that a monster had lured him outside and was hiding inside the base, but an impostor attacked the group before they could reach it. An Ke exposed the impostor and fought back as a Vengeful Ghost, and the chapter ended with another Ye Lin emerging from the darkness.
Ye Lin confronted Yuan and realized that his assumptions about their shared team and objectives were wrong. Yuan revealed himself as a monster aligned with the zombies, trapped Ye Lin and his companions, and Ye Lin warned Zhang Tie not to approach the Mother as a recording device began playing.
Ye Lin killed Yuan and joined the others in breaking the barrier while Zhang Tie and Hu Jia struggled to save the Mother and her fetus from infection. Hu Jia sacrificed himself to draw the zombies away, and Zhang Tie escaped with the Mother as her baby began to cry.
Ye Lin chose to leave the fourth exam round with his team, and they returned to the Death Exam Space, where their rewards and Hu Jia’s death weighed on them. Zhang Tie asked Ye Lin to retrieve Hu Jia’s belongings, but He Zheng warned everyone not to look inside his room.
Ye Lin and the others witnessed Hu Jia’s mother die in the fire that reset his room, unable to save her because she was only a phantom. Afterward, An Ke said she wanted to find the letters to understand why the Death Exam did this, revealing her absolute hatred of it.
After the exam, Ye Lin investigated how to strengthen his perfected one prototype and tyrant gene, then asked An Ke about grade A clearance. The chapter ended with An Ke receiving his demand that she repay him 20 points and reacting angrily.
Ye Lin asked An Ke about ratings, team battles, and the blood-red key, then decided to formally establish the team so he could access special exchanges. An Ke suggested using Ye Lin’s Grade D rating to learn what relic the key led to, and he considered the option.
Ye Lin considered redeeming a Q&A item that could answer questions about objects in the Death Exam Space, hoping it might reveal information about the tomb. After lending An Ke a point for her Grade B Bloodline, he tested the Mutation ability and was overwhelmed by visions of cosmic destruction, ending in darkness.
After waking from a six-hour blackout with a splitting headache and dried blood on the floor, Ye Lin formed the Soul Peace Team with An Ke, He Zheng, Huang Liang, and Zhang Tie, unlocking team benefits and special exchanges. He used a D-grade rating to obtain a question-and-answer book, hoping it would reveal who was in the grave.
Ye Lin used the Book of Questions and Answers to ask who was buried in the last grave he entered, but it named the Species Emperor, En Gu, and unlocked the hidden Origin of the Godkind scenario. He then searched the real-world grave by its coordinates and learned that the person buried there was Ye Lin.
Ye Lin discovered that the person in the grave the organization sought was named Ye Lin, but the system denied him access to the classified information he needed to confirm whether it was him. As he resolved to survive and seek answers later, He Zheng and An Ke urgently called him outside because something had gone wrong with the vortex.
Ye Lin and his teammates discovered that the Vortex was spinning abnormally fast, prompting An Ke to explain that similar changes had preceded especially difficult Examinations. The group tried to steady their nerves while they waited for the next Examination type to be announced, and Ye Lin wondered whether they would face ghosts.
After discussing what they hoped to do if they survived, Ye Lin and the others gathered before the vortex to learn their third exam assignment. The system selected a paranormal escape exam set in a modern horror setting.
Ye Lin used the key on the Book of Questions and Answers to learn what the scenario contained, after the group discovered their next examination involved ghosts. The book revealed powerful equipment and a dangerous hostile being before nearly burning itself apart.
After the key revealed a perilous Fengdu world, Ye Lin led the team to abandon it and prepare for the third exam. His teammates settled on their exchanges, while Ye Lin weighed the powerful Grade A options available to him.
Ye Lin weighed his limited points and exchanged a Grade A rating and 60 points for Crimson Impact, choosing its burst speed and power over Storm Flight for the upcoming escape examination. After testing the ability, he was satisfied with its strength and prepared to enhance his Observer Bloodline to Grade B.
Ye Lin completed his bloodline enhancement, gaining stronger willpower, faster thinking, and new psychic abilities, then finished preparing for the next exam. He asked Huang Liang whether anyone had entered the tomb after the Military surrounded him and what his file contained.
Ye Lin questioned Huang Liang about the tomb and his file, learning that he was suspected in an unknown major homicide. Huang Liang revealed that calls to the real world had connected but received no response, then asked Ye Lin to help contact it; Ye Lin refused.
Ye Lin rejected Huang Liang’s accusations over Hu Jia’s death, insisting he had saved him and owed no further debt. As the third examination approached, the five distributed their ghost-fighting supplies and prepared to enter the red vortex together.
Ye Lin and his team entered the village examination scenario and recognized that the other group of examinees was probably an ally rather than a threat. The system confirmed cooperative mode and gave both teams 72 hours to find an escape point, leaving them to prepare as the cold wind swept through the village.
Ye Lin’s Soul Peace Team met Li Tianyang’s Tianyang Team and exchanged information before entering the examination. As Li Tianyang began describing his team’s previous encounter with a ghost, unseen eyes watched from the village ancestral hall.
Li Tianyang recounted how his team survived an Examination about evolution, and Ye Lin deduced the role of ghosts in their dream scenario. As Ye Lin connected the Examination to the Records of the Netherworld, he began to realize what ghosts became after death.
