Organization and Governance
Leadership
| Position | Holder(s) | Authority or Role |
|---|---|---|
| Clan Chief | Futu Yijing | Supreme ruler of the clan. His recognized succession commands the allegiance of its bloodline, and his authority in external affairs cannot be overridden even by Ancestor Futu 79 102. |
| Great Elder | Qing Yanjing | The highest authority below the clan chief; succeeds Futuo Xuan after Futu Yijing takes office 81. |
| Grand Supreme Elders | Ancestor Futu, Futuo Xuan, Human Emperor, Heavenly Emperor | Four Saint Grade elders appointed by Futu Yijing after the three ancient figures’ resurrection 81. |
| Council of Elders | Representatives of the clan’s branches | Seats determine each branch’s influence within the clan and are contested through the Branch Martial Assembly 8. |
Futu Yijing’s position as young master was created exceptionally despite Qing Yanjing already holding the Saintess position, which carried status equivalent to a young chief. After her confinement, the elders united behind him as the leading successor 4 8.
Main Lineages
| Lineage | Leadership and Notable Members | Standing |
|---|---|---|
| Qing Lineage | Qing Yanjing becomes its head; Qing Tian and Qing Xuan are elders, and Qing Shuang is its young mistress 4 6 9 78. | Formerly the strongest main branch, it weakens after its previous head’s death and Qing Yanjing’s confinement 8. |
| Xuan Lineage | Led by Xuan Guang; Xuan Luo is one of its young prodigies 4 9 93. | Its position becomes firmly established after Xuan Guang reaches Saint Grade 93. |
| Mo Lineage | Led by Mo Tong; Mo Xin is one of its young prodigies, and Mo Yin serves as an elder 4 9 60 93. | Its position becomes firmly established after Mo Tong reaches Saint Grade 93. |
- Subsidiary branches also field Heavenly Sovereigns and compete for elder seats 8.
- Futu Yijing’s uncontested succession redirects branch rivalry toward the Council of Elders rather than the chief’s position 8.
- Under his leadership, competition becomes less hostile; the Xuan and Mo Lineages no longer jointly target the Qing Lineage at the early assembly 9.
- After Mo Tong and Xuan Guang reach Saint Grade, the three main branches hold positions unlikely to be challenged by other lineages for a long time 93.
Branch Martial Assembly
- Normally held once every ten years, with major powers invited to observe 3 8.
- Heavenly Sovereigns defend their seats through combat, determining branch representation and influence 8.
- Includes a separate tournament for younger clan members 5 9.
- An assembly is brought forward only two years after the previous one because the clan’s strength has grown and the elders want additional seats for the three branches 91.
Background and History
Ancient Wars and Inheritances
During the Great Thousand World’s earlier invasion, the ancient powerhouse Futu killed numerous Flame Demon Clan experts, leaving the demons hostile toward his descendants 1. The clan also repelled an attack on its ancestral seat: the Ancestral Pagoda’s power killed at least three Heavenly Demon Emperors 81.
Ancestor Futu later fell in the Ancient Era Saint Abyss, leaving the Eight-Part Futu inheritance there. Recovering this Peerless Divine Ability was said to qualify its recipient to become the clan’s next leader 57.
Qing Yanjing’s Confinement
The clan condemned Saintess Qing Yanjing’s marriage to the outsider Mu Feng, whose cultivation had not reached the Supreme Realm. She was confined within the Ancestral Pagoda, while her son Mu Chen was branded a “Sin Child” for carrying the clan’s blood outside it 4 18 74 75.
Futu Yijing’s influence gradually softened the clan’s treatment of Mu Chen. Futuo Xuan acknowledged the boy’s shared bloodline, and Futu Yijing personally stopped Black Light from taking him 4 32 56. Opposition persisted among members such as Mo Yin, Xuan Luo, and Mo Xin, who demanded Mu Chen’s submission or objected to his receiving the ancestral inheritance 61 75.
Ancestor Futu’s Return
In the Ancient Era Saint Abyss, Ancestor Futu condemned the clan’s treatment of Mu Chen and granted him the Eight-Part Futu as an apology. Futu Yijing accepted the decision, having never intended to claim the inheritance himself 74 75.
After returning to the clan, Ancestor Futu reprimanded the Council of Elders and released Qing Yanjing. Mu Chen was invited to the succession ceremony and reunited with his mother peacefully 76 77 78.
Futu Yijing’s Succession and Reforms
Futu Yijing formally became clan chief with the recognition of the living clan and the ancestral consciousnesses within the Ancestral Pagoda 79. With the Flame Emperor’s help, he restored Ancestor Futu and his two teachers using intact bodies of deceased clan Heavenly Sovereigns. The Human Emperor and Heavenly Emperor then joined the clan 79 81.
The new leadership reduced the clan’s emphasis on bloodline purity, though it did not abandon bloodline requirements altogether. Its reception of visitors became more equal, and its lineages developed a markedly more harmonious atmosphere 77 91 97.
Eternal Undying Body Dispute
When Mu Chen obtained the Eternal Undying Body, the clan deployed five Saint Grade experts against the Maha Ancient Clan. Maha Tian secured support from the Black Heaven Ancient Clan, while the Tai Ling Ancient Clan intervened to protect Mu Chen 100.
Futu Yijing attempted negotiation before accepting Maha Tian’s duel. Their confrontation escalated to the use of both clans’ guardian relics: the Ancestral Pagoda and the Maha Yin-Yang Bottle 102 105.
Final Demonic War
During the Great Thousand Covenant, Futu Yijing received word that the Outer Realm Evil Clan had invaded the clan’s territory. Five Saint Grade experts remained at home to defend it 109.
After Futu Yijing defeated the Heavenly Evil God and ended the calamity, the Great Thousand World recovered. One year later, he attended the clan’s Branch Martial Assembly alongside its eight Saint Grade experts 132.
Abilities and Legacies
Futu Cultivation Method and Pagodas
- The clan’s cultivation method requires its bloodline; Mo Yin identifies Mu Chen’s Futu Pagoda as evidence of his ancestry 60.
- Clan members manifest individual Futu Pagodas. During Futu Yijing’s succession, their pagodas emerge involuntarily and circle his Sacred Futu Pagoda 79.
- The Human Emperor and Heavenly Emperor gain bodies carrying the clan’s bloodline through resurrection, making them capable of cultivating Futu Pagodas 91.
Eight-Part Futu
- One of the Thirty-Six Peerless Divine Abilities, cultivated by Ancestor Futu 57.
- Refines Demon Emperors and seals them within a Futu Pagoda as guardians 46.
- Inherited by Mu Chen as compensation for the clan’s mistreatment of him 75.
- Despite its traditional connection to succession, Mu Chen’s inheritance does not displace Futu Yijing as the acknowledged future chief 57 75.
Spirit Arrays
- Many clan members possess aptitude for Spirit Arrays 78.
- Generations of ancestors incorporate different methods into the Clan Protection Array 78.
- Qing Yanjing, a Saint Grade Grandmaster, repairs and strengthens the Futuo Realm’s arrays to compensate for the Ancestor Qi used by Mu Chen 6 83.
Ancestral Combat Inheritances
- Endless Light Body — Futu Yijing cultivates it after receiving recognition from the ancestors within the Ancestral Pagoda 5.
- Demon-Slaying Spear — A spear-wielding Saint Grade ancestor’s three-form inheritance. Its techniques emphasize offense against the Outer Realm Evil Clan rather than defense 5 8.
Relics and Defenses
Ancestral Pagoda
The clan’s sacred guardian relic and greatest inherited foundation, accumulated over hundreds of thousands of years 81 105.
- Dying Great Elders enter it to pass away in meditation, leaving their spiritual energy and consciousnesses behind 5 81.
- At full power, it can suppress and kill a Saint Grade Heavenly Sovereign 81.
- Preserves Ancestor Qi, a precious resource ordinarily reserved for members with substantial contributions; it can strengthen individual Futu Pagodas 81 82.
- Has a slower internal flow of time, which Qing Yanjing proposes reducing further with a Spirit Array for Mu Chen’s cultivation 93.
- Members normally receive a second opportunity to enter only after reaching Heavenly Sovereign 81.
- Can be summoned outside the ancestral grounds by the clan chief. Futu Yijing uses its crystalline light against the Maha Yin-Yang Bottle 105.
Clan Protection Array
- Protects the Futuo Realm with power sufficient to make even a Saint Grade Heavenly Sovereign struggle to break through 78.
- Is strengthened by Qing Yanjing after Mu Chen consumes more than half of the pagoda’s Ancestor Qi 83.
Futu Sky-Pillaring Spear
- An ancestral weapon inherited by Futu Yijing 45.
- Contains the lingering wills of slain Demon Emperors, which temporarily increase the wielder’s cultivation 46.
- The wills retain their dying unwillingness, making the empowered wielder more berserk 46.
Spirit Vein Stele
- Erupts with spiritual light when Futu Yijing manifests his nine divine veins 52.
- Its reaction allows Futuo Xuan to recognize Futu Yijing’s attainment of Heavenly Sovereign 52.
Relationships
- Mu Chen — Blood descendant of the Qing Lineage, initially persecuted and later compensated with the Eight-Part Futu and access to the Ancestral Pagoda. He promises to aid the clan if it faces disaster 74 75 76 81 82.
- Maha Ancient Clan — Rival ancient clan. Maha You provokes the clan’s young masters at the Branch Martial Assembly; the later Eternal Undying Body dispute escalates into a clash of chiefs and guardian relics 9 13 100 102 105.
- Tai Ling Ancient Clan — Its representatives oppose attempts to seize Mu Chen and later support him during the Eternal Undying Body confrontation 56 100.
- Flame Emperor — An honored succession guest who helps resurrect Ancestor Futu, the Human Emperor, and the Heavenly Emperor 78 79 81.
- Martial Realm and Sword Domain — Their leading figures attend Futu Yijing’s succession ceremony as distinguished guests 77 78.
- Outer Realm Evil Clan — Long-standing enemy fought by the clan’s ancestors and Futu Yijing; attacks the clan again during the final demonic war 1 81 109.
