Chapter Summaries

Su Ming investigated the enormous sphere of light while eating hot pot with Little Gray, and Celestial Destroyer identified it as an energy extraction device. The sphere remained untouched as Su Ming considered the dangers of dismantling it.

• Little Gray warned Su Ming that Elaine's actions might have made Multiverse 1 impossible to return to, and they discussed what home meant to the Justice League heroes.
• Su Ming removed the dead Celestials from the sphere with The Force, while Strangle and Cloak consumed their remaining energy.
• Celestial Destroyer returned after fulfilling his vengeance and thanked Su Ming for helping him defeat his enemies.
• Su Ming asked Celestial Destroyer to identify the sphere, and he explained that it extracted energy and could trigger an Omniverse-level energy tide if dismantled.
• Celestial Destroyer warned that such an energy tide might turn everyone into something inhuman.

Su Ming arranged for Breakers to take control of the Celestial agricultural ship and cultivate Single Universes for his 40K Universe. Breakers agreed to work under Su Ming, who said he could manage the threat of the First Firmament for now.

Deathstroke explained that the souls from 40K-1 and 40K-2 would be reincarnated in beautiful worlds to enjoy carefree lives, then return to the dangerous experimental Earths to work in alternating lifetimes. He left the souls’ future as a repeating cycle of work and reward, while Celestial Destroyer departed to take charge of the ship and build universes.

• Celestial Destroyer left in his black Colossus form after agreeing to take over the ship and create universes.
• Deathstroke told Kitty that he had preserved the souls of people who died on 40K-1 and 40K-2.

Su Ming and Dream of a Thousand Cats entered the Abyss, where they learned about the Queen of Never and navigated her vast maze. Kitty found the fastest route, and Su Ming flew onward, hoping the Queen would give them directions when they arrived.

Deathstroke and Dream of a Thousand Cats crossed the Blackwall maze and reached a Fairyland-like realm with a white castle. The Queen of Never appeared, welcomed Deathstroke, and revealed her rainbow form.

Su Ming and Dream of a Thousand Cats met the Queen of Never in the Abyss, where she welcomed them to her castle and prepared a banquet of conceptual food. Su Ming played along with the impossible meal while preparing to ask her for help.

Su Ming and Kitty ascended from the Queen of Never’s Abyss to meet TOAA, hoping to learn how to defeat Enigma. They reached a small house floating on an island, and Su Ming rang its doorbell while explaining that he feared Enigma might target 40K or Multiverse 1.

• Su Ming recognized that the Queen of Never’s cloudlike palm was carrying him and Kitty to a higher plane, while the Queen remained trapped in her Abyss.

TOAA explained that the unknowable force Deathstroke sought was CAAT, a higher-level scourge beyond the limits of understanding, and showed him images of its destructive forms. Deathstroke learned that the Final Guiding Hand had been helping his 40K Universe and stayed in the Idea House to consider how to defeat CAAT.

• TOAA told Deathstroke that the Enigma came from Mystery and was called CAAT, or Crown Above All Things.
• Kitty asked why TOAA did not stop CAAT, and TOAA explained that strength depended on one's level of understanding.
• Deathstroke asked whether the Final Guiding Hand could help, and TOAA revealed that it had already been helping him and his 40K Universe.
• TOAA showed Deathstroke visions of CAAT appearing as crowns that destroyed different worlds, and explained that CAAT was the opposite of Everything.

In the House of Ideas, Su Ming discussed ways to oppose the Crown Above All Things and questioned TOAA about the nature of a Trinity. He left with no immediate plan, but with possible allies and TOAA’s answer to consider.
