After returning to the dorm, Li Haoyang wrapped himself in his blanket without a word.
People could never truly share one another's sorrow. Dorm 515 was small, but the ugliness of human nature was already on full display.
Li Haoyang might have been miserable, but Wang Dachui was having the time of his life.
With a shameless grin, he stood in front of Li Haoyang's bed and wiggled his butt, muttering, "One more single lady. Another addition to Wang Dachui's harem."
"Hahahahaha!"
"I'm happy! Time to sing!"
"Let's get this party started, boys!"
Wang Dachui's delight stood in stark contrast to Li Haoyang's misery.
Luo Ye and Shen Qiao watched, utterly speechless.
Suddenly, a notification sounded from Luo Ye's phone.
Fairy Senior: Chicken?
Luo Ye hurried to reply: Dinner.
This was his code for gaming with "Senior Qin." As for why Su Baizhou was sending it now... they were roommates, so Senior Qin had probably told Fairy Senior about it.
After a day of work, Su Baizhou invited Luo Ye to play.
Both were highly skilled. Not only had Luo Ye topped the elimination rankings for multiple seasons, but Su Baizhou was also a goddess of war, one of the best female players in head-on gunfights.
Neither was a streamer or a professional, and they weren't particularly well-known in the battle royale game, but they were top-tier nonprofessional players.
Even against professionals or skilled streamers, they could hold their own, with victory far from certain for either side.
Neither liked being matched with random teammates, so they almost always played as a duo in four-player squad matches.
Once he entered the matchmaking screen, Luo Ye put on his headphones.
Ever since he and Fairy Senior had grown closer, she had been willing to use voice chat while gaming.
But for some reason, "Senior Qin" seemed to have vanished lately. She never even messaged Luo Ye anymore.
Was she angry?
That would make sense. Ever since I met Fairy Senior, I haven't contacted Senior Qin. It's like I only used her to get to know Fairy Senior.
I'll have to find Senior Qin Yuwen another day and thank her in person.
"Start," Su Baizhou said calmly.
"Okay."
The game began, and they parachuted in.
They dropped straight into the most crowded spot on the map and began mowing everyone down.
"Wild Kid, you're secretly gaming without us?"
Wang Dachui leaned against Luo Ye's bed. When he saw the screen, his eyes widened. "You're carrying a girl, too?"
Su Baizhou was using Qin Yuwen's account. Since she had claimed her own account belonged to Qin Yuwen, she could only use Qin Yuwen's gaming account to represent herself now.
Qin Yuwen used the same name for her battle royale and Honor of Kings accounts.
[My Bear Is Big, Do As You Please].
Wang Dachui immediately perked up. "Let me join! I want to carry a girl, too."
Since she was using Qin Yuwen's account, Luo Ye currently believed Su Baizhou was terrible at the game.
Her account's stats were practically indistinguishable from a bot's. She might even have been worse than an elementary school kid.
If Luo Ye scattered a handful of rice over his phone screen, a chicken could have played better than her.
With that in mind, adding another bot like Wang Dachui would only put Luo Ye under enormous pressure, so he firmly rejected Wang Dachui's request.
But once they entered the game, Luo Ye discovered that wasn't the case at all.
Fairy Senior wasn't just beautiful. She was also incredibly good at the game, just as good as Senior Qin.
It made sense. Senior Qin and Fairy Senior shared a dorm room, so they probably played together often. It was only natural that their skill levels were similar.
But why were this account's past stats and match results so awful?
While Luo Ye was distracted, a grenade landed at his feet and exploded.
By the time he snapped back to attention, his character was already down, waiting to be rescued.
The corner of Luo Ye's mouth twitched.
It's over. I've embarrassed myself in front of my goddess.
This was his "first time" playing this battle royale game with Fairy Senior. Before this, they had only played Honor of Kings together a few times.
And Luo Ye was much better at this game than he was at Honor of Kings.
He hadn't expected to fall flat at his strongest game.
Before long, Su Baizhou fought her way over and revived Luo Ye.
Eager to prove himself, Luo Ye quickly said, "Senior, I'll carry this round."
With that, Luo Ye became a killing machine. Like an executioner, he drove Su Baizhou all over the island map, slaughtering opponents wherever they went.
Qin Yuwen's account was only ranked Platinum, so to Luo Ye, this was the lowest of low-level matches.
After the match ended, Wang Dachui finally found an opening to speak. "Wild Kid, is this the senior you've been thinking about nonstop lately?"
Luo Ye nodded and answered without thinking, "Yeah."
The moment the word left his mouth, Luo Ye realized something and frantically switched off his in-game microphone.
Oh no, oh no. She heard that.
Meanwhile, in the Faculty Apartments, Su Baizhou froze briefly when she heard that he had been thinking about her nonstop.
Then she smiled and typed, "Another round?"
"Yes!"
There was no way Luo Ye would turn down a chance to game with Fairy Senior.
Elsewhere.
The Women's Dormitory.
Tang Enqi logged into the game, and her gaze shifted when she saw Luo Ye online.
She knew Luo Ye was very good at this game. She had played with him herself in high school.
She also knew he had a gaming partner called Hotpot Lover, but that was just an online friend whose gender she wasn't even sure of.
But now, when Tang Enqi opened Luo Ye's team information, she suddenly discovered that the person currently playing with him had the username [My Bear Is Big, Do As You Please].
That was obviously a girl's username. And... judging by that name, a girl who was very confident in her figure.
With that thought, Tang Enqi tapped the option to request a spot in Luo Ye's next match.
[Want to play together next round?] [The other player has declined your request.]
Tang Enqi froze for a moment.
Declined...
This was the first time she had seen that word since getting to know Luo Ye.
He turned me down for the girl he's playing duos with right now?
Tang Enqi's brows drew together slightly.
She could accept Luo Ye not liking her.
But she couldn't accept Luo Ye liking someone else.
She could decide she didn't want something that belonged to her, but that didn't mean someone else could pick it up. Especially since she still had feelings for Luo Ye. She hadn't given up on him; she was simply still considering it.
She was going to find out exactly who had managed to make Luo Ye fall for her.
Messages from Gao Yuming kept arriving on her phone.
Gao Yuming was full of himself just because his family had a little money. Tang Enqi didn't like him.
And he kept pestering her. Compared with him, aside from having a less wealthy family, Luo Ye was better in every other way by who knew how many times.
Liu Bingxin wasn't in the dorm.
After they finished dinner with Gao Yuming, Liu Bingxin had gone for a walk with another senior.
He was a third-year student named Shuai Kun. He had pursued Tang Enqi before, but after realizing he had no chance, he had moved on to Liu Bingxin.
College might have been wonderful, but with so many people around, there were bound to be scumbags like him.
