Background

Robin is the sole survivor of Ohara and has been wanted by the World Government since she was eight. She spent the next twenty years in hiding, working with criminal organizations to survive and pursue her research 123 240. Her ability to read Poneglyphs makes her central to the search for the Void Century’s erased history 86 118.

As Crocodile’s right-hand woman in Baroque Works, Robin sought historical knowledge rather than the Ancient Weapon Pluton he wanted. At Alabasta’s Royal Mausoleum, she withheld information from him; Crocodile recognized the deception and stabbed her 118. After his defeat, Robin joined the Straw Hats as their archaeologist 123.

Personality

Robin remains composed under threat and is adept at reading people. When she first meets Moonlight, she answers his questions calmly despite his sword and killing intent; after joining the crew, she learns how to put its wary members at ease 86 123. She spends much of her time reading and researching, and gradually becomes a trusted source of knowledge for the Straw Hats 124.

Her calmness can falter when her past threatens the crew. The sight of Aokiji frightens her into warning her companions not to fight him, while the prospect of a Buster Call drives her to leave with CP9 in the hope of keeping them safe 155 169. At Enies Lobby, she finally tells the crew that she wants to live and return to sea with them 170.
