Should he defect?
That would be too foolish...
Things hadn't reached that point yet.
Madara Uchiha pressed a hand to his temple. While those people were busy destroying the barrier around the mausoleum, he needed to think things through.
There was no way Tobirama Senju would openly demand to experiment on his own younger brother while his elder brother, Hashirama Senju, was still alive.
Tobirama Senju's methods were downright sinister. These Anbu sent to attack were undoubtedly off the books.
They would disguise themselves as shinobi from another country and pretend they wanted to rob the tomb of the First Hokage and Third Hokage's younger brother.
That would stir up a commotion, bringing this once-peaceful sanctuary back into the public eye.
Tobirama Senju would even send people to spread all sorts of rumors about the mausoleum, drawing desperadoes here to dig up the grave.
Then, as the current Hokage, Tobirama Senju could use the excuse of protecting his younger brother's rest to bring Yanbai's coffin back to Konoha Shinobi Village.
The guileless Hashirama Senju would surely believe his younger brother's impassioned words.
But if Madara Uchiha took Yanbai's coffin away to avoid a confrontation...
Tobirama Senju would immediately announce, "Madara Uchiha stole Princess Senju's coffin and defected from Konoha," then spare no effort in hunting him down. At that point, even Hashirama Senju would not let Madara Uchiha off.
Defecting... was the most foolish solution.
Having thought it through, Madara Uchiha cast a brooding look toward the burial chamber's exit and murmured, "Tobirama, oh, Tobirama. After all these years, have you decided I'm already dead?"
What grave robbers?
What spies invading from another village?
Just because these people were harassing them, did Yanbai's coffin have to be taken back to Konoha Shinobi Village and enshrined there?
*Had they all
