Background / History

Lumine is a traveler from another world searching for her brother. She seeks the Seven Archons to determine whether any of them is the unknown god from their past, or can provide information that will help her rescue him. Separately, Aether expresses confidence that he and Lumine will soon be reunited 12 14 28.

Before reaching Liyue, she traveled through Mondstadt, became acquainted with the Anemo Archon, and learned to cook. Venti told her and Paimon about Liyue’s Adeptus of Yin-Yang and the Two Principles and reminded them about the annual Rite of Descension 14 19 28.

Appearance

• Blonde hair, described when she arrives in Liyue and attends Childe’s dinner 14 27.
• Unusual but elegant clothing; Qiu Bai notes that clothes like hers are rarely seen in the Seven Nations 14 27.

Personality

Lumine is determined to find her brother and repeatedly redirects Paimon toward their purpose when food distracts her. She is also cautious: she draws her sword when Qiu Bai unexpectedly identifies her elemental powers and initially rejects Childe’s help after learning he is a Fatui Harbinger 14 16.

Her caution does not prevent her from trusting others. Although puzzled by Qiu Bai’s abilities, she tells Paimon that everyone has secrets and that pressing him for answers would be rude. Their friendship becomes strong enough that she searches rubble for him in tears, injuring her hands rather than abandoning the search 18 23 49.

She has a teasing, flirtatious side. She jokes about Paimon being a child, tussles with her, and openly admires Qiu Bai’s female form, Qiu Xue. After declaring them friends, she touches Qiu Xue’s legs, embarrassing her, before stopping out of concern about how her behavior might be perceived 34 35 36.

Lumine also develops concern for Liyue beyond its usefulness to her search. As tensions rise, she refuses to stand by and watch the city fall into conflict 47.

• Aether — Her brother and the focus of her search. He anticipates their reunion while directing Enjou’s mission to Enkanomiya 12 14.
• Paimon — Introduced by Lumine as her “best companion.” Lumine supports her through commissions, keeps her focused on their work, and shares affectionate teasing and quarrels with her 14 17 36.
• Qiu Bai — A mysterious guide who becomes a trusted friend. He accompanies her to the adepti, provides transportation and meals, heals her scraped hands, and pushes her out of Childe’s whale attack 17 18 23 49 50.
• Qiu Xue — Qiu Bai’s female form, whom Lumine treats as a separate beautiful acquaintance during their travels. Lumine enthusiastically seeks her affection and flirts with her 34 35.
• Childe / Tartaglia — Initially her rescuer and a reluctantly trusted helper; later her opponent when he attempts to seize Morax’s Gnosis 16 48 49.
• Zhongli — Recruits her to help prepare the Rite of Parting. His knowledge and long friendship with Qiu Bai make her suspicious of their youthful appearances 28 39.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Rite of Descension and Flight from the Millelith

Lumine arrives in Liyue seeking the Geo Archon and the Immortal Lord. Qiu Bai guides her to Yujing Terrace, where she offers incense and wishes for news of her brother. When Ningguang announces Rex Lapis’s assassination, Lumine fears the Geo Archon might be the god she previously encountered and flees rather than fall into his followers’ hands 14 15.

Childe rescues her and Paimon from the pursuing Millelith. Despite her distrust of the Fatui, she provisionally accepts his assistance and takes his talisman to Jueyun Karst 16.

Seeking the Adepti

With Qiu Bai accompanying her, Lumine presents the Sigil of Permission to Moon Carver, Mountain Shaper, and Cloud Retainer. She reports the assassination and her false accusation, but learns that the Immortal Lord is also missing 17.

The group then travels to Wangshu Inn to seek Xiao. After his initial refusal to engage, Lumine brings food and explains the crisis while he eats. Xiao resolves to meet the other adepti, and Lumine subsequently returns to Liyue Harbor to report back to Childe 18 19 21 22 23.

Preparing the Rite of Parting

Zhongli and Childe persuade Lumine that helping with Rex Lapis’s farewell ceremony is her only available route to viewing his divine remains. She participates in the preparations, including offering fragrant balms and borrowing the Cleansing Bell 28 33 36 39.

Unknown to her, the two deities she is seeking—Qiu Bai and Zhongli—are already beside her 28.

Golden House Confrontation

As Liyue’s tensions escalate, Lumine decides to intervene. She identifies the Golden House as Childe’s likely destination and asks Qiu Bai to accompany her. Inside, they confront Childe over his attempt to obtain Morax’s Gnosis 47 48.

Lumine fights Childe directly, then joins Qiu Bai against his transformed state. Qiu Bai secretly restrains his strength to satisfy a system mission, while Lumine believes their struggle is genuine. After he pushes her clear of the whale attack and appears to fall lifeless, she attacks Childe in rage; the supplied account ends with their battle continuing 49 50.
