Background / History

Origins and Sect Standing

Yue Chan is an exceptionally gifted Heaven Mending Sect holy maiden. Her talent test at the First-Generation Sect Master’s stele produced an unusually dazzling golden glow. She is said to be the reincarnation of True Immortal Azure Moon, although another interpretation describes her as merely a “similar flower”; the exact nature of that connection remains uncertain 19 35.

She studies under Qing Yao, the Previous Generation Saintess and her maternal ancestor. Their relationship is distant: Qing Yao rarely teaches her and later explains that she dislikes Yue Chan because Yue Chan resembles her too closely 21 31 32.

Rivalry with Lin Fan

At eight years old, Yue Chan enters Qing Yao’s secluded pure land to test Lin Fan, the newly admitted First Generation. She resents the attention their master gives him. Her ambush escalates into a serious fight, ending with her capture after an attempted Heaven Mending Art escape causes backlash. Lin Fan takes her storage pouch and treasures as compensation for the damage, and Qing Yao orders her to return to cultivation 28 29 30.

Yue Chan returns after opening her fourth Heavenly Passage, this time issuing an open challenge. She avoids close combat and relies on Precious Arts, sustaining an exchange of more than a hundred moves. Nevertheless, Lin Fan dissolves and absorbs her Peacock Precious Art with his Supreme Bone, then stops his fist just short of her forehead. She honors their wager and hands over her new storage bag 31 32.

Over the following years, she challenges him whenever she makes a breakthrough, accumulating seven defeats. After reaching nine Heavenly Passages, she wagers a Forbidden Artifact made by her great-uncle. Lin Fan reveals ten passages and defeats her with one strike; she surrenders the artifact and promises another challenge once she reaches ten herself 33 34 35.

Spirit World Challenge

Unable to gain an advantage over Demoness directly, Yue Chan recruits Lin Fan for a proxy battle, offering a World-Breaking Talisman as payment. She arranges their entry into the Spirit World so he can act without leaving his secluded residence 35 36.

Their first target is Sikong Ming, who has said she is inferior to Demoness in both ability and beauty. Yue Chan accompanies Lin Fan to the Sikong Family residence, where he defeats its defenders and kills Sikong Ming within the Spirit World. She warns him when the family’s Bone Sword nearly strikes his neck. Lin Fan then publicly challenges Demoness on her behalf 36 37 38.

After returning to their physical bodies, Yue Chan pays the promised talisman and withdraws into seclusion to pursue ten Heavenly Passages. Despite the expense, she is pleased to have struck a blow against her rival 39.

Phoenix Blood and the Lower Realm Journey

When Lin Fan reaches Spirit Transformation, Qing Yao sends Yue Chan two drops of Phoenix Blood—one for each body. Yue Chan identifies it as Divine Phoenix True Blood and discovers that it resonates with her True Phoenix Precious Art 43.

In the Lower Realm, Lin Fan deceives her secondary body into accepting a supposed childhood engagement. He presents the Divine Sword previously taken from her primary body, which matches the secondary body’s sword, and a powerful Marriage Decree. The sect leader and elders pressure her to accept rather than endure the decree’s overwhelming pressure again. The engagement story is explicitly fabricated, and the secondary body does not yet know that she is a secondary body 44.

She accompanies him to the Stone Kingdom’s capital. At the Bone Gu Auction House, she acquires an incomplete Primordial Golden Crow Rune Bone using a Heavenly Dipper Stone borrowed from him. Its runes supply the portion missing from the sect’s Golden Crow Precious Technique, which she also cultivates 45 46.

After the auction, she agrees to help locate missing pieces of a beast hide that Lin Fan believes conceals a major opportunity. During a subsequent ambush, an attacker tries to seize her as a hostage, but Lin Fan intercepts him. Lin Fan later dismisses their guardians and takes her through space to the Western Frontier for wilderness training 47 49 50.

Appearance

  • Clothing: Frequently wears white robes or a white dress, reinforcing her ethereal holy-maiden image 33 43.
  • Face and complexion: Delicate features, bright eyes, and fair skin with a faint crystalline luster compared to moonlight 28 33.
  • Brow mark: A mysterious mark between her brows emits rosy radiance while she expresses her longing for immortality 35.
  • Secondary body: Almost indistinguishable from her primary body; appears with flowing dark hair, snow-white robes, and a veil covering her face 44 50.

Personality

Yue Chan maintains a dignified, detached public image and is accustomed to deference. As a child, however, she is proud, competitive, and easily provoked by Lin Fan. Her initial attack stems from jealousy over Qing Yao’s favoritism, while her hostility toward Sikong Ming comes from his praise of Demoness at her expense 29 30 36.

Repeated defeats do not break her confidence. She studies Lin Fan’s fighting style, corrects her tactical mistakes, and returns after further breakthroughs. Although she protests losing, she promptly pays the stakes of their wagers 31 32 33 34.

She can deliberately soften her manner and appeal to their senior-sister–junior-brother relationship when seeking Lin Fan’s help. Her pride coexists with a steadfast Dao heart: since childhood, she has wanted to become an immortal and surpass the powerful figures of earlier eras 34 35.

Her secondary body strongly resists having a cultivation partner chosen for her. Even after reluctantly accepting Lin Fan’s supposed proof of engagement, she considers breaking it off or postponing it indefinitely and renews that resolve during their arguments at the auction 44 46.

Abilities & Skills

Primary-Secondary Body Method

Yue Chan cultivates an incomplete method that produces two bodies with independent consciousness and ideas 35.

  • Her primary body remains in the Upper Realm; her secondary body lives in the Lower Realm 35 44.
  • She believes merging both bodies will perfect her divine art and greatly increase her strength 35.
  • The incomplete method carries the danger of the bodies developing conflicting intentions. Her secondary body is initially unaware of her own nature 35 44.

Heaven Mending Art

An immortal art that manipulates time and space, allowing events to be undone and an earlier state restored 24 28.

  • Yue Chan attempts to reverse her capture and escape Lin Fan’s hold 28.
  • Using it after another powerful divine ability exceeds her endurance, causing her to cough blood and collapse 28.

Heavenly Transformation Divine Ability

Redirects incoming force through the ground and the earth’s veins 31.

  • Yue Chan diverts a strike into a rocky hill fifty or sixty feet across, pulverizing it rather than taking the blow directly 31.

Peacock Precious Art

Manifests a small-mountain-sized Five-Colored Peacock and releases Five-Colored Divine Light 31 32.

  • Grinds material caught in its radiance to dust, including extremely hard rock 32.
  • Increases surrounding gravity dozens of times over, restricting escape 32.
  • Her improved control lets her use it without the visible strain of her earlier overpowered techniques, but Lin Fan’s Supreme Bone dissolves and absorbs the attack 31 32.

True Phoenix and Golden Crow Precious Arts

  • True Phoenix Precious Art: Resonates with the Divine Phoenix True Blood supplied by Qing Yao; no specific combat application is shown in the supplied passages 43.
  • Golden Crow Precious Technique: Cultivated by her secondary body. The auctioned rune bone contains runes missing from the Lower Realm sect’s version, offering a way to reconstruct the incomplete technique 46.

Combat Technique and Perception

  • Possesses a physical body ranked among the strongest at her cultivation level, though she acknowledges that Lin Fan’s body is stronger 28 31.
  • Learns to maintain distance and favor Precious Arts after losing their first close-range encounter 31.
  • Uses divine eyes to scrutinize the Primordial Golden Crow Rune Bone at auction 46.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Universe pouch / Heaven and Earth Bag — High-grade spatial storage made from ferocious beast hide. Her first captured pouch contains herbs, precious blood, pills, talismans, and a jade sword 29 30.
  • Jade Divine Sword — A multicolored sword of extraordinary quality, taken by Lin Fan. Her secondary body possesses an identical sword, which he exploits as false evidence of their engagement 29 44.
  • Crimson Feather Fan — Lost in a later wager. Produces scarlet flames and lightning with little divine-power expenditure; Lin Fan’s test reduces a mountain to ash 32.
  • Mirror-shaped Forbidden Artifact — Refined by her Heavenly God great-uncle. Can be used three times to kill cultivators below the Heavenly God level; she loses it before using it once 33 34.
  • World-Breaking Divine Talisman — Paid to Lin Fan for the Spirit World expedition. Allows travel between provinces and makes pursuit difficult even for a Heavenly God 35 39.
  • Divine Phoenix True Blood — Two drops sent by Qing Yao, intended as one drop for each body 43.
  • Primordial Golden Crow Rune Bone — Acquired by her secondary body for one borrowed Heavenly Dipper Stone. Contains missing Golden Crow runes, although the auctioned bone lacks its forbidden divine ability 46.

Relationships

  • Lin Fan — Junior fellow disciple, repeated sparring rival, and later paid champion. He takes numerous treasures from her through victories. His claimed engagement to her secondary body is a deception, not an established childhood betrothal 29 33 35 44.
  • Qing Yao — Master and maternal ancestor. Their emotional distance fuels Yue Chan’s jealousy, but Qing Yao still provides Phoenix Blood for both bodies 31 32 43.
  • Unnamed great-uncle — A Heavenly God who dotes on her and creates her mirror-shaped Forbidden Artifact 29 33.
  • Demoness — Sworn rival and Heaven Severing Sect heir. Similar in age and strength, neither initially gains a decisive advantage, prompting their proxy-fight arrangement 35.
  • True Immortal Azure Moon — A mysterious influence on Yue Chan’s life, associated with disputed claims that Yue Chan is her reincarnation 19 35.
  • Granny Xihua and Elder Yu — Peak Venerable Realm guardians accompanying her secondary body and Lin Fan in the Stone Kingdom until Lin Fan dismisses them 45 50.
