Background / History

Origin and uncertain identity

Qingyi is Yue Chan’s Secondary Body and adopts a separate name. When Yue Chan enters the Hundred Broken Mountains, Qingyi remains outside as a precaution against both bodies encountering disaster together 179.

The Primary-Secondary Body Method leaves Qingyi fearing that she is merely a tool or substitute whose consciousness will eventually be erased. She believes the Upper Realm’s people would support Yue Chan rather than her, and initially assumes Lin Fan would make the same choice 180.

Their shared memories also complicate Qingyi’s sense of self. Experiences and emotions belonging to Yue Chan can feel like her own, making it difficult to distinguish her personal feelings for Lin Fan from those inherited from the Primary Body 191 472 483.

Travels with Lin Fan

Lin Fan takes Qingyi to the Northern Sea, where they cook powerful marine creatures, drink wine, and playfully chase each other along the beach. His reassurance eases her melancholy and brings out a livelier side normally hidden beneath her serene bearing 180.

They pursue the Kunpeng Nest and encounter Black Paper Boats connected to a mysterious woman in white. Qingyi witnesses a voice seemingly crossing time, then questions whether Lin Fan could be the elder brother that woman seeks 182 189.

Afterward, they spend half a month exploring the Great Wilderness, including the Uninhabited Zone and a ruin containing Bone Scripture fragments associated with the Supreme Hall. At Stone Village, Lin Fan tells her that an Ancient Pill from the Emperorfall Era could restore her Primordial Spirit. She later accompanies him toward the Heaven Mending Pavilion after Shi Hao leaves to seek help for its Sacrificial Spirit 193.

Heavenly Immortal Academy

Qingyi joins the Heavenly Immortal Academy and, within less than a year, earns recognition as an exceptionally talented prodigy. Feng Wu becomes her closest friend and helps her live quietly in seclusion 249 492.

Lin Fan visits her at the academy’s Immortal Pool. After recognizing him, Qingyi hides his presence from Tian Yao, then questions him about his conduct toward Yue Chan. He later offers her valuable protective artifacts, but she resists accepting gifts because she fears owing him something she may never be able to repay 251 252.

Immortal Ancient

Before Immortal Ancient opens, Yue Chan shares cultivation insights, Precious Arts, and memories with Qingyi, allowing her to gain advanced understanding without separately studying those techniques. Qingyi nevertheless remains frustrated that Yue Chan has not given her the Azure Moon Flame needed to ignite her divine fire 472.

A tiny clone of Lin Fan accompanies Qingyi inside a Bone Cauldron hidden in her hair. After crossing the contested azure stone stairway, she finds a life divine spring. Lin Fan supplies the Reincarnation Immortal Seed, ancient scriptures, and Evolution Liquid; when she refuses out of fear that she has no future, he insists that she must not give up 472 474.

At the Dragon Lair, Qingyi gathers ancient medicines while Lin Fan cultivates. She also visits trading cities to purchase Eight Delicacies and information about medicinal treasures and dangerous inheritance sites 480 481.

Lin Fan subsequently uses artificial tribulation and repeated reincarnation experiences to help her merge with the Immortal Seed and cultivate immortal qi. Her success makes her one of the first few entrants in Immortal Ancient to achieve that milestone 482 483 522.

Qingyi rescues Feng Wu and Li Yuncong from Immortal Palace pursuers, then joins them in exploring the Ten Fiends’ Nest. She helps the group survive its dangers, opens an escape passage with Lin Fan’s bracelet, and challenges the mysterious man responsible for the massacre there. He survives her attack by countering the bracelet with a single horn and retreating into the nest 492 493 495 497 498 499.

Her cultivation later attracts the Ominous Force. Trapped among resurrected husks and stronger figures, she cannot freely use her immortal qi because it is needed to keep her Primordial Spirit inside her body. Lin Fan senses her danger through a mark he left on her and rescues her before she is killed 502 504 505.

Near the competition’s end, Lin Fan secretly intervenes at the arena, causing spectators to credit Qingyi with attacks she did not perform. She enters the inheritance Light Gate and follows a resonance to a jade coffin, which releases Jade Scriptures and an Immortal Seed into her hands 522 523.

Confrontation and later cultivation

After Qingyi and Lin Fan become intimate, she promises to face Yue Chan alongside him despite fearing her Primary Body’s anger. Yue Chan confronts her in the Frost Realm, where Qingyi transmits memories of how their relationship developed. Those memories make Yue Chan recognize that she had disregarded Qingyi’s feelings, though she blames Lin Fan for manipulating them both 521 524.

Lin Fan later arranges Qingyi’s admission to the Heavenly Deity Academy so she can continue cultivating and reunite with old friends. During his subsequent disappearance, Shi Hao conceals the truth from her, claiming that Lin Fan has returned early to cultivate after gaining an opportunity 542 561.

When Lin Fan presents ways to address the crisis facing her and Yue Chan, both reject becoming Dark Creatures and choose his qi-refining system over preservation in Divine Source Liquid. Moon Mother later tells Yue Chan that the two women will become separate people, but the provided events do not show that separation being completed 587 595.

Qingyi reunites with Lin Fan at the Sacred Emperor Palace during the Dharma-Ending Age. She remains among the women with whom he spends time in the later centuries 615 625.

Qingyi is depicted as a tall, slender young woman with an ethereal, sacred bearing, often compared to an immortal maiden 179 192 481.

She distrusts his extravagant declarations because of his history of lying to her, yet his company also helps her relax. Feng Wu later notices that she has become markedly more cheerful and lively 180 185 473 493.

Her reluctance to accept gifts stems from insecurity about her future rather than indifference toward Lin Fan. She fears becoming indebted to him while unable to promise a lasting relationship, and feels guilty about pursuing him while still bound to Yue Chan through the Primary-Secondary Body Method 252 474 483 521.

She is perceptive and protective of people close to her. She recognizes Lin Fan’s hidden concern beneath his harsh words to Shi Hao, acts immediately when Feng Wu is threatened, and worries when Lin Fan undergoes dangerous tribulations 193 491 492 517.
