"That feeling just now?"
"It was the nightmare from that night!"
Lorne suddenly remembered the nightmare he had had a few nights ago. He had felt exactly the same way that night.
He had not thought much of it at the time, but now that he thought about it...
"Could something unclean really have set its sights on me?"
"Is that thing responsible for the strange changes in my body?"
"Why would it target me? Because I'm a transmigrator?"
"Or is it after my money?" Lorne thought of his newly stuffed wallet.
"No, surely no hidden entity would be short of money."
"What on earth is it?" Countless questions echoed through Lorne's mind, leaving him unable to calm down.
"I finally made some money and thought my luck was turning around, only for this to happen..."
The Circus.
The Magician listened as his subordinate poured out his woes before him, tears streaming down his face.
He clenched his fists and forced a smile that never reached his eyes.
"So you're saying you tried to do a good deed, only to get scammed and nearly lose your life?"
Looking at his bedraggled subordinate, the Magician forced down his anger as he asked.
"Exactly, exactly! Boss, you have to get revenge for me." The Clown nodded frantically, looking as though he had suffered every injustice imaginable.
"Hahaha. Interesting."
"I'll give you one more chance to rephrase that." The Magician's eyes burned with anger as he stared the Clown down.
Apparently intimidated by his captain, he stammered, "Actually, I, I... I met a woman, and then..."
"You mean she tricked you, nearly killed you, and left you covered in injuries. Correct?"
"Uh, yes, that's right." The Clown nodded.
Hearing this, the Magician could not resist rapping him hard on the head.
"Put your pants on first."
He looked at the Clown's bare lower half with undisguised disgust.
"But... Boss, weren't you the one who wouldn't let me put them on?" The Clown felt rather wronged.
"You ran back here bare-assed, and now you're acting wronged? Do you know how much you've embarrassed me?"
"Put your pants on first."
The Clown hurriedly grabbed a fresh pair of pants and started pulling them on.
"Wait!" The Magician raised a hand to stop him.
"Underwear only."
The Clown grew a little flustered at that.
"Huh?"
"Boss, the others will be back soon. If they see me like this..."
"You should be grateful I'm not making you stay bare-assed. And who said you could get up? Keep kneeling," the Magician said harshly.
"I... I..." For a moment, the Clown was at a loss for words.
Seeing him stammer, the Magician softened. He reached out to help the Clown up and said earnestly:
"You're a Clown. Doing this will help you digest your Potion."
"Understand?"
"Yes!" The Clown nodded, surprised that his boss cared so much about him.
"All right, keep kneeling." With his conscience now clear, the Magician let go again.
"Tell me what actually happened," the Magician said.
"Well, since we had the day off today, I went to Red Tail... Ahem, while I was out shopping, I met a mature lady."
At this point, he looked at the Magician and said, "Boss, you know I can't resist that type."
"Go on," the Magician said, his expression dark.
"Then she asked if I wanted to go have some fun with her."
"I, I just..."
"You happily went along, didn't you?"
"It was going smoothly at first. I never expected her to suddenly... halfway through..."
"If I hadn't been lucky, I would've..."
A Demoness...? Listening to his subordinate's account, the Magician reached a conclusion.
"Do you know her name?"
The Clown thought back and said, "I think it was Sharon."
"All right. I'll do a divination on that Sharon in a little while and find out who she is."
"As for you, expect to be confined." He glanced at the Clown.
"Boss, please don't," the Clown pleaded.
"Look at you. You get a rare day off, and this is what you do with it. Can't you spare me some worry like your two teammates?" The Magician's disappointment left the Clown rooted to the spot, unable to argue.
The mention of his team members suddenly reminded the Magician of something.
"Right, it's already this late. Why aren't those two back yet?"
"Captain, I... we're back." A woman's voice rang out.
The Magician looked at the two people at the tent entrance, and his expression froze.
"Why are you covered in injuries too?"
"Utterly reckless." The Magician's expression was grim as he listened to the Seer recount what had happened.
"You actually picked a fight with people from the Rose School without investigating them properly."
"But at least you won." His expression eased a little as he turned to glance at the kneeling Clown.
Something suddenly occurred to the Magician, and he asked:
"Right, since you won, you must have gotten some spoils. Where's that Robot's Beyonder Characteristic?"
The Seer and the other team member stared at each other, not knowing what to say.
The Azure Hotel.
"Why is it so hot?" Lorne felt an inexplicable, feverish heat. Although that strange gaze had vanished, the abnormalities in his body had not disappeared with it.
"Meow?" Lucky seemed to notice her owner's discomfort and stared at him curiously.
"My Monster premonition hasn't been triggered, so there shouldn't be any danger for now, right?"
"And this burning heat..."
"Forget it. I'll take a bath first." Having made up his mind, Lorne took a change of clothes and headed toward the bathroom.
"Wait, that gaze from earlier isn't going to peek at me while I'm bathing, is it?" Remembering the feeling of being watched, Lorne stopped in his tracks.
Above the Gray Fog.
Klein stood frozen in bewilderment.
The scene he had just witnessed had unnerved him.
"That shouldn't have happened. There was clearly nothing unusual, so why did I feel afraid?" he muttered to himself.
"In any case, there's definitely something wrong with that person."
Remembering that suffocating sensation, Klein could not put his mind at ease and decided to perform another divination.
Just as before, an image slowly unfolded before him.
"That's... the sound of running water."
Klein saw a thick cloud of steam, with a figure within it.
He was just about to move closer for a better look when...
"Ah! My eyes!"
A familiar, brilliant light struck him again.
"Damn, it really came to peep." Lorne, who was bathing, felt that familiar gaze again.
He hurriedly dried himself off and put on his clothes.
"Lucky, we need to go out right away. Something's got its eye on me."
"Where should we go? Right! The Church."
"Something unclean wouldn't dare enter a church, would it?" Lorne muttered as he gathered his things.
He stood up, intending to take Lucky with him, but the moment he stepped forward, his leg seemed to catch on something. He lost his balance completely and fell toward the bed in front of him.
With a Beyonder's physical abilities, he should have been perfectly fine, especially since he had fallen straight onto the bed. Yet, inexplicably, he passed out on the spot.
"Meow?" Seeing her owner faint, Lucky jumped straight to his side, looking a little anxious.
"Huff... huff..."
Listening to her owner's steady breathing, Lucky gradually calmed down. She lay right on top of Lorne, curled up, and closed her eyes.
Before long, the unconscious Lorne murmured.
"Robot..."
