Cheng Jianxue, calling herself Neph, entered Moon City through the Blank Canvas and joined the Tarot Club while learning about her powers and the Forsaken Land of the Gods. She revealed the True Creator’s history, faced Amon’s interference, and warned Klein’s group about the danger surrounding their planned assassination.
Neph negotiated for formulas and artifacts while helping Klein, then prepared Moon City for a ceremony honoring the God of Winter. After Amon confronted her and she advanced through several sequences, she escaped his avatar and reunited with Klein to study the Black Emperor Card of Blasphemy.
Neph left Moon City with Ouroboros and crossed the Sea of Ruins, where she joined Cattleya’s crew and met Bernadette and Frank Lee. She carried the True Creator’s message to the Fool and learned more about Amon, while the Tarot Club discussed dangers in the City of Silver.
Neph pursued her potion digestion and learned that the Demoness Sect and Aurora Order planned a year-end disaster in Backlund, while helping Klein investigate a serial killer and warning the Tarot Club. After arranging for her paintings to publicize the danger, she sought guidance on her advancement ritual and arrived at Bansy Harbor.
Neph advanced as a Memory Collector, while Klein prepared to visit his family and the two converged in Bansy Harbor amid a supernatural crisis. Neph exposed Medici’s possession and Bishop Miller’s crimes, and Klein’s group left the harbor after reporting the deaths and anomalies.
Neph followed Tracy aboard the Black Death while searching for the clues to her advancement ritual, and Klein helped plan how to approach the pirate captain. The investigation drew in Medici, Ouroboros, and Cattleya, while Klein dealt with threats and a fraudster misusing the Fool’s name.
Neph escaped the Black Death with Helene, helped Klein kill Tracy, and advanced through the Memory Corridor to become an Eternal Winter Priest. She revealed Roselle’s fate to Bernadette and supported Klein’s advancement, as he returned to Backlund before leaving for Bayam and pursuing Kircheis.
Neph bought Death’s Key, brought food and hope to the City of Silver and Moon City, and pursued clues about the old betrayal and her own past. In Backlund, she investigated deaths at a garment factory, helped Klein and his associates, and confronted the burden of prophecies as she prepared for a dangerous plan.
Neph helped Klein navigate threats from the Jacob Family, the Rose School, and the Churches while her ties to the God of Winter drew growing attention. The arc ended with Klein preparing to enter Saint Samuel Church’s underground area, Neph agreeing to hear about Danitz’s Tarot Club debut, and Hazel beginning her formal education in the Beyonder world.
Klein and Neph navigated threats from Amon, Ince Zangwill, and the Primordial Moon while Klein pursued his plans in West Balam. Neph then took control of Palenque Tasibu’s Numinous Episcopate base and received an order to reunite the Episcopate, but learned that its angel Haiter remained beyond her power.
Neph advanced to Sequence 2 and learned the truth about her origins from the True Creator, while Klein continued preparing for his own advancement. As the War of the Gods approached, Neph sought the God of Steam and Machinery’s support and the Church of Evernight presented her as the Goddess’s twin sister.
Neph helped Bernadette and the survivors of Groselle’s Travels while revealing more about the Apocalypse, the Ancient Sun God, and her own past. As George III prepared to become the Black Emperor, Neph and Klein confronted the danger and Neph sought answers from Adam about fate and Amon.
Neph helped Klein and others prepare for George III’s Apotheosis Ritual while pursuing her own investigations into the Primordial, Mr. Door, and Amon. After Klein entered the Forsaken Land of the Gods, Amon tried to steer him toward the True Creator, but Klein chose to pray instead.
Klein and Neph hunted Kotar, uncovered more about the apocalypse and the world’s origins, and began arranging for Moon City and the City of Silver to join forces. The arc left the City of Silver preparing to move while angels gathered above the battlefield and Alger accepted a chance to advance and fight.
Neph guided Klein through the Giant King’s Court, helped the City of Silver and Moon City move toward safety, and confronted the legacy of her mother and the Ancient Sun God. As Klein pursued his advancement and tested a wish-granting machine, Neph investigated a mysterious mediation movement and returned to the Forsaken Land of the Gods, where she encountered two startling figures.
