Arc 8Prophecies and the Forsaken Land

Neph bought Death’s Key, brought food and hope to the City of Silver and Moon City, and pursued clues about the old betrayal and her own past. In Backlund, she investigated deaths at a garment factory, helped Klein and his associates, and confronted the burden of prophecies as she prepared for a dangerous plan.

  • Neph arranged to buy Death’s Key from Edwina, paid five thousand pounds, and told her the key could open a gate in the Giant King’s Court.
  • Neph gave Frank a Druid Beyonder characteristic, helped him develop useful mushrooms, and sent a batch to Klein before traveling toward the War of the Gods Ruins.
  • Neph summoned Ouroboros, received a Beastskin Lantern, and met Colin Iliad’s team in Afternoon Town as the Lord’s Oracle.
  • Neph brought mushrooms to the City of Silver and Moon City, then escaped Amon’s coercion and returned to the City of Silver.
  • Neph joined Lovia’s team in Afternoon Town, revealed that a traitor had stolen her name, and warned Klein that war was coming before taking Ludwell’s Death God ring.
  • Neph investigated strange deaths in Backlund, killed Argos, and told Leonard Mitchell that Klein was alive after Leonard uncovered the truth about Klein’s grave.
  • Neph learned that Old Kohler had died in the Bond Garment Factory and arranged his funeral while asking Klein to help contact Miss Justice.
  • Neph told Audrey that her paintings and prophecies had left her fearing she had worsened other people’s fates, then resolved to learn from her failures and described her prophecy as a funeral for one person or a world.
Chapters 182–207 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 182Wisdom's Invitation

Neph and Klein arranged to discuss buying Death's Key with Edwina, whose reply made Neph suspect the God of Knowledge and Wisdom wanted to meet her. After seeking the True Creator's guidance, Neph decided to meet Edwina and asked Klein to arrange it.

  • Neph cleared ordinary people from the street so Klein could confront Kircheis, then reminded Klein to collect her after he finished pursuing the bounty.
  • Klein explained that his 9,500-pound bounty payment was delayed and told Neph he planned to go to Backlund disguised as a wealthy businessman seeking a noble title.
  • Neph asked Klein to contact Edwina about buying Death's Key, and Edwina replied that she wanted to meet Neph in person to discuss the transaction.
  • Neph suspected Edwina's invitation was connected to the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, then asked the True Creator for guidance.
  • The True Creator's whispers indicated that Wisdom's intentions were unclear and that negotiation was possible, so Neph decided to meet Edwina and asked Klein to arrange a place.

Ch. 183Alger's brainstorming

Alger weighed the risks of helping the World find an item on a primitive island and asked the Fool to arrange an expedition together. Neph met Danitz at Gragas, revealed her Demigod abilities and unusual pathway, and reached the Golden Dream with him.

  • Alger inferred that Neph's revelation and the World's search might involve the Fool, then asked the Fool to tell the World he would share the island's coordinates if they explored it together.
  • Neph traveled to Gragas to meet Edwina and waited for Danitz at the Sourness tavern.
  • Neph revealed her Demigod presence, startling Danitz and frightening the pirates who had gathered in the tavern.
  • Neph stole distance with Danitz to reach the harbor and explained that she was not connected to Jodson or the Marauder pathway.
  • Neph showed Danitz her color-changing eyes and told him of a forgotten God, pathway, and land before taking him to the Golden Dream.

Ch. 184Knowledge and memories

Neph visited Edwina aboard the Golden Dream, bought Death's Key, and told her that the key opened a gate in the Giant King's Court. After Neph left, Edwina questioned Danitz about their meeting and realized Neph's account of a possible future seemed to match what Danitz had experienced.

  • Edwina welcomed Neph aboard the Golden Dream and showed her Death's Key, which Edwina believed had belonged to giants.
  • Neph said Death's Key could open a gate in the Giant King's Court, paid Edwina five thousand pounds from her Collection Hall, and declined to stay aboard.
  • Neph told Edwina that Danitz could pray to the Fool or contact Gehrman Sparrow if she needed to reach her, then left by walking across the freezing water.
  • Edwina summoned Danitz to her quarters and used a dream to examine his meeting with Neph.
  • Danitz told Edwina that Neph had called him Gehrman's head maid and said his pathway could let him become a woman.
  • Edwina connected Neph's prediction about Danitz becoming a demigod and an oracle with Danitz's account and his possible choice of the Demoness pathway.

Ch. 185The wisdom of survival

Edwina investigated Danitz’s account of Neph and realized her clues suggested a forgotten twenty-third pathway and the Forsaken Land of the Gods. Klein arranged for Edwina to join the Primitive Island expedition, which ended with Neph bringing Frank a Druid Beyonder characteristic aboard the Future.

  • Edwina questioned Danitz in a dream about his encounters with Neph and recognized the significance of her references to a forgotten god, pathway, and land.
  • Klein told Neph that Edwina wanted to approach her through the Fool, and Neph agreed that he could reveal she came from neither the Southern nor Northern Continent.
  • Klein invited Edwina to join the Primitive Island exploration, and Mr. Hanged Man agreed to the plan.
  • Neph gave Frank a Druid Beyonder characteristic she had bought for eight thousand pounds, and Cattleya agreed to raise the remaining five thousand pounds.
  • Neph told Cattleya she planned to introduce a courageous Hunter to His Grace Ouroboros, then accepted the guest room aboard the Future.

Ch. 186Mature mushrooms

Neph helped Frank complete eleven edible mushroom varieties suited to the Forsaken Land of the Gods, then sent samples and a letter to Klein. After borrowing Frank’s Beyonder abilities, she left the Future and set off toward the sea near the War of the Gods Ruins.

  • Cattleya bought Frank his Beyonder characteristic, and he advanced before beginning mushroom research with Neph’s suggestions.
  • Frank showed Neph his first edible mushrooms, and she tasted them before thinking of sending some to Klein.
  • Frank developed eleven mushroom varieties that could provide meat, fish, flour, milk, and other foods, and Neph obtained memories of his Beyonder abilities.
  • Neph grew another batch of mushrooms, sent them to Klein with a letter through Reinette Tinekerr, and departed toward the sea near the War of the Gods Ruins.
  • Klein received eight thousand pounds from Cattleya, his commission from the White Bone Staff sale, and the bounty for Kircheis before reading Neph’s letter and receiving the mushrooms.

Ch. 187City of Silver

Neph entered the monastery in the Ruined Sea, met Ouroboros, and agreed to seek the good personality of the Saint of Darkness before being sent toward the True Creator. She reached Afternoon Town, where she encountered Colin Iliad and Derrick’s exploration team and introduced herself as the Lord’s Oracle.

  • Neph found Anderson Hood in the monastery and summoned Ouroboros from a mural depicting the Angel of Fate.
  • Neph told Ouroboros that the Saint of Darkness had split into good and evil personalities, chose to keep the good one, and followed him through the mural and across the sea.
  • Ouroboros gave Neph a lantern and sent her to walk toward the True Creator without outside help.
  • Colin Iliad led Derrick and the City of Silver’s exploration team into Afternoon Town, where they spotted Neph carrying a Beastskin Lantern.
  • Neph approached the team, declared her belief in the Lord that Created Everything, and identified herself as the Lord’s Oracle.

Ch. 188The Oracle

Neph met Colin Iliad’s Exploration Team in Afternoon Town and claimed to be the Lord’s Oracle, explaining the betrayal that had left the Lord unable to answer prayers. She revealed to Derrick that the Lord was in the Forsaken Land and demonstrated her crop research on a monster corpse, while Colin remained uncertain about her identity and purpose.

  • Neph helped the City of Silver’s Exploration Team defeat a radiant monster, then told Colin Iliad she had come at the Lord’s summons.
  • Neph described how the Lord’s former angelic servants betrayed him, and Colin ordered the team to withdraw from town and camp.
  • Colin privately questioned Derrick about Neph, and Derrick confirmed that he knew her as Miss Pure White.
  • Neph told Derrick that the Lord was in the land and explained she had returned with successful research into crops that could grow there.
  • Neph asked Colin for a monster corpse, then scattered mycelium on it and made mushrooms grow as Colin watched in confusion.

Ch. 189Grace

Neph gave Colin mushrooms that grew by consuming monster flesh and blood, explaining their risks and how to prepare them. After the City of Silver tested the food, Neph warned Colin that inviting her to the city could bring a King of Angel to their door.

  • Neph explained that the mushrooms could grow on contaminated monsters, described their varieties, and warned Colin to cook most of them thoroughly and keep them away from earth-domain divine power.
  • Colin accepted the mushrooms in exchange for faith in Neph, then brought her to the City of Silver campfire to test them.
  • Colin asked Derrick to taste the first roasted mushroom, and Derrick ate several more before Colin and Neph tried some themselves.
  • Colin said he would preserve the remaining mushrooms for further experiments and planned to invite Neph to the City of Silver.
  • Neph stopped Colin and warned him that inviting her could bring a King of Angel to the city.

Ch. 190Fate's joke

Neph met the True Creator and learned that a prophecy connected her to the title “White Angel,” then exchanged Will Auceptin’s paper crane for Ouroboros’s help. After finding a crop that could grow in the Forsaken Land, she contacted Moon City and waited for Nim to send someone to retrieve her.

  • Neph warned the Chief of the City of Silver that reading unfamiliar names aloud could stir the forces of nature, then climbed the mountain where she sensed the True Creator’s gaze.
  • Neph saw a vision of a white figure drinking from a golden sea, and the True Creator called her “White Angel” before Ouroboros brought her near Moon City.
  • Ouroboros confirmed that the Lord had seen a prophecy before finding White, then accepted Will Auceptin’s paper crane from Neph.
  • Ouroboros transformed the scale he had given Neph into a drop of silver blood and explained that a Snake of Mercury had no distinction between scales and blood.
  • Neph contacted High Priest Nim, told him she had found a crop that could grow in the Forsaken Land, and asked Moon City to send someone to find her.

Ch. 191One Player Short

Neph brought monster-eating mushrooms to Moon City and demonstrated accelerated growth, then asked Narani about her Eternal Winter Priest potion and explained her inheritance of a dead god’s authority. As she left the Forsaken Land of the Gods to visit Afternoon Town, Amon diverted her to a gathering of his avatars and invited her to play a game.

  • Neph told Nim about the mushrooms developed by a Druid and gave him their mycelium to test in Moon City.
  • Neph demonstrated Accelerated Growth in the Central Square, and Narani helped verify the mushrooms’ safety.
  • Neph asked Narani what an Eternal Winter Priest should do, then explained that she had awakened with a deceased god’s authority in that god’s divine kingdom.
  • Neph left Moon City with the Beastskin Lantern and decided to visit Lovia in Afternoon Town.
  • Amon redirected Neph to three curly-haired figures wearing Monocles, and she sat down to play Fight the Original.
  • One Amon claimed to be the original and invited Neph to join the game as another avatar.

Ch. 192Fight the Original

Neph learned that Amon suspected the Fool was Adam’s hidden third self, endured his torment, and agreed to carry a message to the Paranoid. She uncovered the strange language hidden in the game link, traveled toward Moon City, while Benson heard from Klein and Klein departed for Backlund under the identity Dwayne Dantès.

  • Amon confronted Neph about whether the Fool was his father’s supposed third self, tortured her, and offered to spare her if she wore a Monocle before the Paranoid and repeated Adam’s words, “This is a necessary sacrifice.”
  • Neph agreed to Amon’s request, escaped, destroyed the Monocle, and realized the game link read “The world forget me” in the language she had known upon waking.
  • Neph used her memories to navigate toward Moon City and spotted a city in the distance.
  • Benson returned home and learned from Melissa that Klein had sent him donningsman tree sap to help his hair grow.
  • Klein boarded a train for Backlund as Dwayne Dantès after receiving bounty money and a Wraith Marionette for hunting Seniors with Edwina.

Ch. 193The legend of Pure White

Neph entered the City of Silver as the Lord’s Oracle and met with Lovia and Shilmon, where she discussed the Lord, her reason for visiting, and the name Pure White. She denied being the White Angel in the city’s records and called that figure an impostor and traitor, while leaving open the possibility that he had not acted by choice.

  • Neph told the City of Silver’s guards that she was the Lord’s Oracle, and Jinold went to report her arrival.
  • Lovia and Shilmon met Neph and invited her to the council hall instead of sending her to quarantine because she had brought food and was an honored guest.
  • Neph introduced herself as Pure White and asked how much Colin Iliad had told them about the Lord.
  • Neph explained that she had visited to check on the city and pursue a private objective, and Lovia agreed to relay her request to the Chief after his quarantine.
  • Neph denied being the White Angel in the City of Silver’s records and described that figure as an impostor and traitor, though she suggested he might not have chosen his actions.

Ch. 194Deliberate intent

Neph agreed to join Lovia’s expedition to Afternoon Town and revealed herself as the God of Winter, leaving a prayer symbol for the City of Silver. She learned the Chief had ordered Lovia to cooperate with her and challenged Lovia’s unease over the Fool and the True Creator cooperating.

  • Lovia invited Neph to join the team exploring Afternoon Town, and Neph agreed to leave the next day.
  • Neph gave Lovia and Shilmon her honorific name and explained that the God of Winter had been her mother’s title before her.
  • Neph told them that outsiders called their land the Forsaken Land of the Gods and left them a broken-snowflake symbol to use when praying to her.
  • Lovia told Neph that the Chief had instructed her to cooperate with all of Neph’s actions.
  • Neph explained that she was preaching her own will and said the Fool and the True Creator were cooperating after a Child of God settled past grievances with his father.
  • Neph accused Lovia of resisting the True Creator’s friendship with the Fool to preserve a balance of power, then said she had known the Creator was mad before becoming his believer.

Ch. 195Evidence

Neph joined Lovia’s Exploration Team in Afternoon Town and used a church’s candle to reveal a memory of the past. The projection exposed a conspiracy involving Sasrir before it burned away as it began naming a fourth king, whom Neph identified as the traitor who had stolen her name.

  • Neph told Bernadette she had found a secret about George III and offered mythical creature blood for trade.
  • Neph met Lovia’s team outside Afternoon Town, gave them her honorific name, and warned them to bring her any churches they found.
  • Neph realized her growing obsession with cleanliness might be a manifestation of her pathway’s divinity and a sign that she was close to becoming a resurrection contingency.
  • Neph lit a candle in a ruined church with the Silver Knight’s dawnlike power, revealing a clergyman’s memory and a shadow that began dissolving in the light.
  • Lovia questioned the clergyman after the team defeated it, and it named Sasrir, Ouroboros, and Medici before transparent flames destroyed it as it began naming a fourth king.
  • Neph said the fourth name belonged to one of the true traitors, who had stolen her name.

Ch. 196A new choice

Neph escaped Afternoon Town and discovered Admiral of Hell Ludwell aboard the Black Tulip, then offered him to Klein as a marionette. She warned Klein that war was approaching and revealed that Alger’s path to becoming a demigod depended on an Ocean Songster inside Groselle’s Travels, while Neph began considering a fight with the Church of Storms.

  • After the clergyman died, monsters emerged throughout Afternoon Town, and Neph led the Exploration Team outside before returning alone through the illusory ocean.
  • Neph spotted Ludwell and his undead crew sailing the Black Tulip, then sneaked aboard with a piece of bone from her Beastskin Lantern.
  • Neph offered Ludwell to Klein as a marionette and warned him to stockpile food because war would break out soon.
  • Klein asked about the Ocean Songster potion ingredients, and Neph explained that the needed elf was still alive inside Groselle’s Travels and that Alger’s advancement could attract Calamity Queen Cohinem.
  • Neph and Klein discussed the danger of Alger failing to become a demigod, and Neph realized that she was already an irreconcilable enemy of the Church of Storms.

Ch. 197Intelligence

Neph took Ludwell’s ring and went to the Bravehearts Bar to gather news about Backlund. After learning about two mysterious food-givers and a troubled garment factory in the East Borough, she headed there to investigate.

  • Neph took the Death God’s ring from Ludwell and left Klein to stage the scene before his servants noticed anything was wrong.
  • Neph traveled to Iron Gate Street, visited the Bravehearts Bar, and met Ian Wright, who was playing a tabletop role-playing game.
  • Neph told Ian that Sherlock Moriarty had inherited a fortune and learned that an ascetic and his young student were distributing food in the East Borough while their would-be robbers died in bizarre accidents.
  • Ian told Neph that workers at an East Borough garment factory had suffered headaches and strange visions since a new steam boiler was installed.
  • Neph paid Ian for the factory’s location and headed toward the East Borough to investigate.

Ch. 198Praise the Moon

Sharron reported that Neph had approached Ian, and Klein confirmed that Neph was the Soothsayer he knew. In East Borough, Neph encountered a Primordial Moon believer, drew Emlyn into the matter, and later Leonard questioned Sherlock Moriarty’s former landlady about Neph.

  • Sharron learned from Ian that Neph had asked about Backlund’s changes, then summoned Reinette Tinekerr and recognized her as her teacher.
  • Klein confirmed that he knew Neph and sent word to her after she reached East Borough.
  • Argos identified Neph as the Child of God from the Primordial Moon’s oracle, and Neph killed him with a curse.
  • Neph summoned Emlyn White to Broken Bridge Street, gave him Argos’s remains, and asked him to seek information from the Sanguine elders about Primordial Moon believers.
  • Leonard visited Starling Sammer in a dream and asked whether she had ever seen Sherlock Moriarty with or heard him mention Neph Dumbledore.

Ch. 199Conclusion

Leonard investigated Sherlock Moriarty’s connections and, after comparing clues with Gehrman Sparrow’s file, suspected Sherlock was his former teammate Klein Moretti. Klein and Neph realized her connection to Dwayne Dantès had helped Leonard make the discovery sooner than expected, and Klein considered keeping her away from that identity.

  • Leonard questioned Mrs. Starling and inventor Raypard, learning Sherlock Moriarty had ended his lease in early January and that Neph Dumbledore had used Sherlock as her contact and collected dividends through him.
  • Raypard’s account led Leonard to suspect Sherlock and Neph had known each other before their public meetings and had concealed their connection.
  • Leonard compared Sherlock Moriarty’s file with Gehrman Sparrow’s and recalled evidence suggesting Sherlock might be Klein Moretti, whom Leonard believed he had buried in Tingen.
  • Leonard asked the Parasite within him whether Sherlock resembled Klein, and the Parasite agreed that there was some resemblance.
  • Klein asked Neph about a dream foretelling Leonard’s discovery, and Neph explained that Leonard had originally connected Sherlock and Gehrman through clues about Dwayne Dantès.
  • Klein realized Neph’s connection to Dwayne Dantès had accelerated Leonard’s investigation and suggested she avoid contact with that identity for now.

Ch. 201Reunion

After Leonard dug up Klein's grave and found a monocle instead of his former colleague, Neph revealed that Klein was alive and had left a fake corpse behind. Leonard then spotted Klein, disguised as Dwayne Dantès, leaving the square outside Saint Samuel Cathedral.

  • Leonard dug up Klein's grave, found a rotted corpse and a monocle, and heard Pallez conclude that his former colleague was probably alive.
  • Leonard met Neph at Saint Samuel Cathedral, where she said Klein was alive and identified herself as Pure White.
  • Neph explained that Klein had replaced himself with a fake corpse and that she had warned him Leonard might dig up the grave; she then vanished after claiming she could see all of the past.
  • Pallez told Leonard that a middle-aged man feeding pigeons was the Fool's blessed, and Leonard watched the man leave in a carriage.

Ch. 202Believers

Neph investigated the teacher and student distributing food in the East Borough and discovered they were Leomaster, the Aurora Order’s Saint of Darkness, and Laila, whom she had known as a pirate. After Neph restored Laila’s lost memories, Laila declared that she intended to follow Neph, then revealed her past connection to the School of Life and her search for her deceased teacher.

  • Neph watched Leomaster and Laila distribute food and recognized Leomaster as a Saint of the Aurora Order and Laila as the Black Death’s former Second Mate.
  • Leomaster introduced himself to Neph and explained that Laila had become his student and a believer in the Lord.
  • Neph entered Laila’s mind to help restore her missing memories, and Leomaster carried her to a place to recover.
  • After waking, Laila remembered Neph and Tracy, then declared that fate had led her to follow Neph.
  • Neph questioned Laila about Tracy and learned that Laila and her twin sister had once been students of a Winner from the School of Life, before her sister died and her teacher was reported dead.

Ch. 203News

Neph learned that workers at the Bond Garment Factory had died in a gruesome incident and asked Klein to keep an eye on the case. She also asked him to find out whether Old Kohler was safe, while Klein prepared to receive a visit from Mori Macht, his wife, and Bishop Electra.

  • Neph heard from Laila that workers at the Bond Garment Factory had collapsed during a shift change, many of them dead and bleeding from all seven orifices.
  • Neph visited Klein, explained that she had told Leonard that Klein was in the cathedral and was a Blessed of Evernight and the Fool, and asked Klein to monitor reports about the factory incident.
  • Neph suggested that Klein could explain Dwayne Dantès's identity by saying he was Dwayne only when he was with her, and she teased him about rumors involving Gehrman Sparrow and the White Demoness.
  • Klein realized Old Kohler might work at the factory where the deaths occurred and asked Neph to find out how he was doing; Neph recognized the name and wondered whether he had survived the Great Smog.
  • Richardson told Klein that Mori Macht, Mrs. Liana, and Bishop Electra had arrived for a semiformal visit, and Neph urged Klein to pay attention to the couple's daughter.

Ch. 204News of a Death

Neph visited Daisy’s family to ask about Old Kohler and learned that he had died in a garment factory, despite Klein having saved him from the Great Smog. The news made Neph confront the limits of her power over death, and she left the family alive after considering whether to kill them to prevent a worse fate.

  • Neph served Klein cake, then spoke with him about Old Kohler and Daisy’s family before accepting his offer of a carriage.
  • Archbishop Anthony Stevenson told Leonard Mitchell that Neph’s records were restricted and ordered him not to leave Backlund, then reported her appearance to the Holy Cathedral.
  • Neph visited Liv and met Daisy and Freya, asking about Old Kohler.
  • Liv told Neph that Old Kohler had died that morning in the Bond Garment Factory and that his body remained unclaimed.
  • Neph realized she could only delay death, wondered whether the factory victims had been destined to die in the Great Smog, and briefly considered killing Liv, Freya, and Daisy before asking whether they had known Old Kohler.

Ch. 205Answers

After Old Kohler died, Neph arranged his burial and asked Laila whether fate could force a person toward a destined death. Laila’s story helped Neph reconsider her fixation on prophecy, and Neph gave Laila the surname Nevis before asking Klein to arrange a meeting with Miss Justice; Klein also told her Mr. Hanged Man had obtained two potion ingredients.

  • Neph learned the cost of burial and decided to arrange Old Kohler’s funeral, then told Klein the news and asked him to help contact Miss Justice.
  • Neph asked Laila whether someone saved from a foretold fatal calamity would face another disaster, and Laila argued that fate was changeable and recounted how her sister tried to kill her over a prediction.
  • Laila revealed that her sister had killed people she foresaw would do evil, including attempting to kill Laila, and said that a prophecy required someone to know it.
  • Neph explained that she had watched future events before entering the world and admitted that prophecy had both helped and trapped her.
  • Laila asked Neph for a surname, and Neph named her Laila Nevis before abruptly leaving.
  • Neph asked Klein to arrange a meeting with Miss Justice, and Klein told her Mr. Hanged Man had obtained a Siren’s throat and hair and needed only a Crystal Cluster Jellyfish to complete his ingredients.

Ch. 206Visitor

Neph learned that Richardson was being pressured by Godopos, a member of a Southern Continent resistance group, and decided to consult Audrey about becoming an Eternal Winter Priest. Audrey met Neph in her painting studio for a psychiatric consultation, which began over afternoon tea.

  • Neph rejected the idea of stealing a Crystal Cluster Jellyfish crystal from the Church of Storms and said Bernadette could ask about obtaining one for Klein.
  • Neph watched Godopos confront Richardson, urging him to rejoin the Death God’s cause and threatening to expose his past.
  • Neph explained that Godopos and Richardson had come from a slave plantation and belonged to the Eternal Life Society, a branch of the Numinous Episcopate.
  • Klein arranged for Audrey to meet Neph, who asked Audrey to serve as her psychiatrist.
  • Audrey welcomed Neph to her painting studio with tea and cake, and Neph remarked that the tea was too sweet.

Ch. 207Story

Neph confided in Audrey about a prophecy that haunted her and her fear that changing the future might cause greater tragedies. Audrey helped her accept that she could only do her best, and Neph ended by describing the prophecy as a funeral for one person or a world.

  • Audrey asked Neph about her paintings, prompting Neph to reveal that she had a secret prophecy she feared would come true.
  • Neph explained that her paintings had helped people avoid the Great Smog, but some later died in other disasters, leaving her unsure whether her actions had worsened their fate.
  • Audrey encouraged Neph to stop dwelling on choices already made and focus on advancing so she could stay ahead of future catastrophes.
  • Neph resolved to learn from her failures rather than torment herself over the past, while considering a dangerous plan tied to Winter's Gift Day and the God of Winter.
  • Audrey promised to seal Neph's memories and asked what the prophecy was about, and Neph called it a funeral for one person or a world.
