Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Inherited Sequence 7 Cryptologist 1 17 Transmigrates directly into an Amon avatar’s Beyonder body rather than advancing by drinking potions himself.
Partial Swindler characteristic digestion 7 9 Gains progress through his dealings with Aurore and Lumian, then through misleading Saint Tenebrous with carefully qualified truths.
Permanent usurpation of Swindler abilities 11 14 Realizes that he is “usurping” the characteristic. Full digestion restores a supernatural improvement to Excellent Observation that Amon had removed.
Substantial Marauder characteristic digestion 27 Borrows Sefirah Castle’s power to steal slightly more than ten seconds from the dead Shotgun Monster, accelerating the extraction of its Hunter characteristic.
Significant Mystery Pryer digestion 38 Advances by uncovering and actively resolving mysteries within Lumian’s dream, which involves multiple high-level beings.
Most of the Mystery Pryer characteristic digested 43 Casts Thought Interference faster than ordinary Mystery Pryers and even Amon at the same Sequence, approaching the Celestial Worthy’s speed.
Complete Marauder characteristic digestion 44 Finishes consuming and incorporating the characteristic while stealing in the underground trading market.

Background / History

Nimrod comes from 2025. Before transmigrating, he had read Lord of the Mysteries thoroughly and only skimmed Circle of Inevitability. This gives him extensive knowledge of the earlier timeline but a less complete understanding of Cordu Village’s dangers 3 6.

He awakens in one of Amon’s avatars, already living under the Aurora Order identity of Mr. L. He cannot feel Amon’s main body controlling him. Recurring dreams of Sefirah Castle and a gray-fog countdown on his hand accompany his arrival 1.

The Celestial Worthy claims to have discovered Nimrod during his conflict with God Almighty and kept him as a resurrection contingency. He also describes Nimrod as lacking the Original Creator’s divinity and being the world’s greatest “Error.” Nimrod repeatedly questions this account and does not accept it as a complete explanation of his origins 4.

Appearance

Nimrod retains Amon’s recognizable features, although he usually avoids wearing the monocle 1 3.

  • Face and hair: Black curly hair, black eyes, a broad forehead, and a thin face 1.
  • Clothing: Initially wears the avatar’s black wizard’s robe; later favors a fitted suit in Tingen and custom clothing for carrying supplies into Cordu 7 9 14.
  • Right-hand mark: A bluish-black symbol resembling “Ω,” beneath a gray-fog countdown. The countdown is visible only to him 2 48.
  • Neck mark: An inverted black cross left by Grisha Adam’s gaze, usually veiled in gray fog 9.
  • Gray-fog manifestations: Appears partially transparent when fog leaks through his body. During the Lent attack, he obscures his face with pale, starlit mist resembling a mask 3 36.

Personality

Nimrod is cautious, calculating, and skilled at making misleading statements without directly lying. He adapts his explanations to what others can plausibly believe, including presenting nine parts truth and one part falsehood when warning Klein about the Marauder pathway. His apparent devotion to the True Creator is a survival strategy; he privately has no faith in the deity 6 9 17 40.

His manipulation has ethical limits. He orders Mr. Z not to harm anyone while delivering a warning to the Nighthawks and prefers stealing from malicious people or wealthy targets. He explicitly excludes those who depend on their meager savings to survive 11 43.

He mixes irreverent humor with calculated bravado, mocking the Celestial Worthy while concealing how vulnerable his low-Sequence body remains. He nevertheless avoids confrontations that offer no benefit, particularly an encounter with the angel-level Fors in the later timeline 3 4 29.

Abilities & Skills

Characteristic Usurpation

Nimrod’s digestion permanently incorporates Beyonder abilities while completely obliterating the characteristics’ internal mental imprints 11 29.

  • Restores Swindler abilities that Amon had removed from lower-Sequence characteristics 14 22.
  • Makes acquired powers function like personal instincts rather than merely borrowed abilities 11 22.
  • Threatens the Celestial Worthy’s remaining imprint, which Nimrod interprets as the god beginning to experience his own “death” 29.

Sefirah Castle Connection

His hand mark channels gray fog and connects him to Sefirah Castle. The Celestial Worthy describes this connection as granting Great Old One-like standing without equivalent combat power 2 48.

  • Storage: Stores and retrieves papers, food, medicine, weapons, and potion formulas through the mark 2 25 26.
  • Concealment: Uses gray fog to obscure his presence and cover Grisha Adam’s gaze 9.
  • Divination resistance: Klein cannot divine his origins even with Sefirah Castle; the Celestial Worthy attributes this to Klein’s insufficient standing 15.
  • High-Sequence borrowing: Can exercise limited abilities beyond his Sequence, including enhanced perception and Time Theft 27 42.
  • Limitations: His low Sequence restricts access to Sefirah Castle’s power. By his later visit to the underground market, its existing owner prevents him from entering of his own accord 42 48.

Timeline Travel and Dream Access

The countdown transports Nimrod bodily between the Lord of the Mysteries and Circle of Inevitability timelines. His first arrival in Cordu begins a new seventy-two-hour countdown 2 3.

  • Keeps his physical body in Sefirah Castle while entering Lumian’s dream with his spirit body 8.
  • Projects his consciousness into the Cordu Village dream and ends dream encounters through brief incantations 5 28.
  • Spreads gray fog through the dream to clear Aurore’s dazed state 34.
  • Ends one iteration of the dream, after which Lumian awakens on March 29, 1358, and Aurore no longer recognizes Nimrod 37 38.
  • Sustains injuries in the dream that remain after returning to Tingen 38.
  • According to the Celestial Worthy, his special standing permits a new timeline to branch from the moment of his transmigration 29.

Observation and Mystery Prying

His inherited abilities improve spiritual intuition, memory, reasoning, and the interpretation of subtle behavior 7 22 40.

  • Excellent Observation: Detects valuables and reads microexpressions and movements at a supernatural level, though below a specialist Spectator 14.
  • Spirit Vision: Confirms that Klein has become a Beyonder during the early Tarot Club meeting 2.
  • Enhanced memory: Helps him memorize Cordu’s layout and recover knowledge forgotten before transmigration 7 40.
  • Sefirah-assisted perception: Distinguishes genuine Beyonder radiance from ordinary valuable objects; this extension is not a normal Marauder ability 42 43.
  • Limit: Mystery prying is not divination and cannot generate conclusions without a sufficient basis 31.

Thought Disruption / Thought Interference

Nimrod interferes with others’ thinking to create openings or influence conversations 7 42 43.

  • Kills the owl watching Lumian after using Thought Disruption on it 7.
  • Uses the ability alongside praise of Swain and the Lord of Storms to gain the Evil Dragon Bar bartender’s trust 42.
  • Improves casting speed substantially as he digests the Mystery Pryer characteristic 43.

Time Theft

Using lingering Sefirah Castle power, Nimrod steals slightly more than ten seconds from the already-dead Shotgun Monster, bringing its Hunter characteristic extraction forward 27.

  • Demonstrates a borrowed High-Sequence Error pathway ability 27.
  • Drains his spirituality almost completely despite the short interval stolen 27.

Deception and Ritual Preparation

Nimrod uses his knowledge of future events, religious rhetoric, and occult procedures to direct stronger allies 9 11 40.

  • Persuades Mr. Z that caution and cooperation with the Church of Evernight serve the True Creator’s interests 11.
  • Prepares Lumian’s Hunter potion using the recovered characteristic and previously gathered supplementary ingredients 27.
  • Places occult explosive arrays with Lumian and conceals them in gray mist; the arrays enhance chemical explosives without praying to a god 33.
  • Combines divine auras and Sefirah Castle’s power to impersonate an evil-god-like presence during Lent 36 38.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Little Scythe: A black, gold-patterned weapon delivered by Botis as Saint Tenebrous’s reward. Formed from a Sequence 5 characteristic after a Rose Bishop and a Sequence 5 Sun cultist killed each other, it grants near-Rose Bishop regeneration and inflicts Purification plus random harmful Flesh Magic effects. Its Purifying Slash can be used once every four hours without an additional price. Negative effects include burns that its own regeneration cannot repair 25 26 38.
  • 2-049: A Beyonder marionette artifact used to kill the Tuxedo Clown and then taken from the Nighthawks. Nimrod considers exchanging it for the Blood Vessel Thief, while doubting that the Church of Evernight would agree 47 48.
  • Ordinary revolver and firearms: Compensate for his weak direct-combat abilities; he also stockpiles weapons before crossing timelines 2 22.
  • Custom clothing: Made through Hanass Vincent and Sirius to improve mobility and carry Beyonder materials and weapons into Cordu 14 19 22.
  • Potion formulas: Obtains the Hunter formula through Mr. Z and the Fire Thief formula through Botis. Fire Thief remains a planned advancement 19 25 48.
  • Crystal monocle: Inherited with the avatar’s belongings; generally kept off his face or tucked into a pocket 1 3 12.

Relationships

  • Klein Moretti / Zhou Mingrui — Fellow countryman and prospective ally. Nimrod proposes mutual help in returning home, reveals his Mr. L identity, and warns him about the planned Tingen ritual. Their cooperation remains accompanied by secrecy and Klein’s divination attempts 16 17 19.
  • Lumian Lee — Godson and pupil. Nimrod helps him become a Hunter, guides his investigation, and prepares with him to disrupt Lent. Lumian’s initially opportunistic use of “Godfather” becomes more sincere after Nimrod’s help 27 28 33.
  • Aurore — Gains her trust through Chinese conversation and their apparent shared transmigrator identity. Helps her understand Cordu’s danger and later clears her dazed state within the dream 6 31 34.
  • Celestial Worthy — Adversarial cohabitant and eventual conditional ally. Nimrod distrusts his account of their origins but negotiates assistance toward becoming a Pillar in exchange for excluding God Almighty from the new world 4 24 29 34.
  • Amon — Original owner of the occupied avatar and a potential threat. Nimrod fears detection through pathway convergence and suspects Adam’s arrangements may be keeping Amon away 1 26.
  • Grisha Adam / True Creator — The future Grisha Adam marks Nimrod; the earlier True Creator interprets the Hanged Man aspect of that gaze as his own favor. This misunderstanding gives Nimrod authority within the Aurora Order 9 39.
  • Mr. Z — Fellow Oracle and subordinate in Tingen. Delivers Nimrod’s warnings, heals his burns, and receives orders to monitor Lanevus 11 39 40.
  • Saint Tenebrous Kisma — Sponsor within the Aurora Order. Recognizes Nimrod as an equal in standing because of divine favor and authorizes his weapon, formula, and operational authority 9 25.
  • Botis — Delivers Kisma’s rewards and accepts Nimrod’s claim that his disappearance into gray fog is the Lord’s trial and blessing 25.
  • Animated Void — Contracted messenger with a degree of angelic might. Transports Nimrod and Ademisaul and later retrieves his correspondence 41 44 48.
  • Ince Zangwill — Opponent whose arrangements Nimrod seeks to disrupt by warning the churches, redirecting the Aurora Order, and forcing changes to the plans written through “0-08” 10 40 48.
  • Leonard Mitchell / Pallez Zoroast — Nimrod identifies Pallez’s presence in Leonard and warns him that Tingen’s events involve Amon’s brother, hoping this will prompt further warnings to the Church of Evernight 47 48.
  • Ademisaul — Fate pathway prospect recruited into the Aurora Order through intimidation and promises of access to suitable potion formulas 43 44.
