"You mean the First Guardian, Alodi, isn't in the Halls of Valor temple?" Rowan had never expected such a pleasant surprise before the mission had even begun.
Based on Rhonin's description of Alodi, Guardian Aegwynn had determined that the soul of the high-ranking spellcaster stranded in Ascension was indeed Alodi himself.
Of all the Guardians throughout history, only Alodi had been a Half-Elf.
"That's right. Before we head to the Halls of Valor, perhaps we should try some special means of contacting the First Guardian, Alodi," Rhonin added.
Rowan looked puzzled. Arcane Magic had yet to reach the level of modern communications technology, where everyone had a phone and could call anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Without establishing mental and spell-based divine links beforehand, even Archmages could not converse remotely.
Alodi had been in Ascension in the Shadowlands for nearly three thousand years. His successors had never even seen his soul form, so how could they establish a mental connection with him?

"Not yet, but we can search the areas around the Halls of Valor," Rhonin said.
Rowan's face darkened. That was as good as saying nothing.
The Halls of Valor in Ascension covered an area even larger than all of Boralus. A thorough search would take at least ten days to two weeks to produce any results.
"Actually, there's no need to go to all that trouble," Aegwynn said.
Everyone exchanged glances, then turned their attention to Guardian Aegwynn.
"Perhaps you've all wondered why the successive Guardians of the Council of Tirisfal possessed extraordinary arcane power surpassing that of High Archmages."
The other members of the Task Force knew little about the Guardians, but Jaina and Rhonin had a clear understanding of what a Guardian of Tirisfal was.
