Background / History

Hizashi takes particular care of Ruri after the boy’s parents die on missions. Their family relationship and shared Branch Family status contribute to this bond. At Ruri’s repeated requests, he teaches him Gentle Fist, including the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms routine 4.

Returning from a mission, Hizashi visits Ruri to check on his recovery. He urges him to accept the Caged Bird Seal and fulfill his duties to the clan, then names Uchiha Itachi as a rival Ruri should strive to match at the Ninja Academy 4.

During their ensuing spar, Hizashi initially holds back but becomes serious when Ruri’s agility and advanced technique surprise him. Ruri lands one strike that seals a chakra point, prompting Hizashi to recognize that his nephew can already see chakra pathways and points.
