Background / History

Early Life and Anbu Service

Yugao began practicing ninjutsu when she was very young. She grew up playing with Gekko Hayate and learned to cook by helping her parents. Although she later undertook numerous missions far from Konoha, she had never visited another country by the time she discussed her travels with Ruri 101 314 884 886.

Already serving under Kakashi when Ruri joined the Anbu, Yugao welcomed him, escorted him to their captain, and introduced him to Yamato. She explained that their routine work involved watching over Konoha and reporting incidents to the Third Hokage, who also issued special assignments 88 89.

Ruri’s First Mission

Kakashi paired Yugao’s swordsmanship with Ruri’s taijutsu for surprise attacks while he and Yamato engaged the enemy directly. Following their return, Ruri invited her on an outing with his friends. Harukawa and Reika welcomed her as “Big Sister Yugao,” while Akagimaru also claimed her as his big sister. Battle Against the Banned-Drug User

Yugao fought alongside an injured Ruri and intercepted an enemy to prevent interference with his battle. Later, she volunteered to face an opponent who had taken two banned-drug pills so Ruri could recover. Her ordinary weapon could not damage the enemy’s reinforced body, and she suffered numerous wounds; an injury to her legs eventually left her unable to stand 739 741 745 747 753.

She subsequently treated Ruri’s abdominal wound and warned him that continuing to fight would endanger his life. After rejoining Kakashi, Itachi, and Yamato in an attack, she checked on their condition when Ruri intervened to save them 759 767 774.

When the enemy exploded while holding what appeared to be Ruri, Yugao broke into tears and mourned him at the crater. Ruri then emerged unharmed and explained that a shadow clone had taken his place 779.

Later Activities

Back in Konoha, Yugao shared ramen with Ruri and watched him train. She declined an outing with him and Harukawa, encouraging him to spend time with Harukawa instead 869 873 882.

She later helped Ruri feed alley kittens and locate the talking ninja cat Xiaohua. After their missions together, she suggested another group meal to celebrate the squad’s survival and friendship 969 971 974.
