"What happened?"

Seeing that one of them was injured, the Anbu member in charge spoke in a somewhat cold tone.

"One of them was a Jonin. Red Fox saved me! But he paid a small price for it too!"

The Anbu member answered. The price he referred to was the aftereffects of the Eight Gates Released Formation.

As Anbu members, they couldn't possibly be unfamiliar with the Eight Gates Released Formation. Many of them had even tried training in it, but none had achieved much. Pure Taijutsu training was far too monotonous, and it couldn't be converted into combat strength quickly.

"The Eight Gates Released Formation?"

Inside the hideout, Rabbit had already heard the commotion outside. Now, seeing the somewhat drained Mu Feng and the other injured member, he felt much more certain.

"An Uchiha actually used the Eight Gates Released Formation!"

When Mu Feng didn't answer, Rabbit muttered under his breath again.

It wasn't just outsiders. Even people in Konoha itself believed that an Uchiha only needed to master their Kekkei Genkai to surpass anything else. Spending time training in the Eight Gates Released Formation was all effort and no reward.

"The mission is complete. We should head back! I wonder how the other squads did?"

"Red Fox, you're coming with us too!"

Soon, the four of them left, leaving only the bodies of five Kirigakure ninja behind. Before long, however, the cleanup team would arrive to take care of them.

After some time, Mu Feng returned to Konoha with the three Anbu ninja.

There, Mu Feng saw Kakashi wearing an Anbu mask. He couldn't tell what animal Kakashi's mask represented, but his white hair was so distinctive that almost anyone familiar with him could recognize him.

Besides Kakashi, Mu Feng also encountered two other squads. After everyone briefly exchanged reports on their missions, they dispersed.

Mu Feng stayed with his own squad, and Kakashi stayed with his. Although the two recognized each other, they didn't exchange a single word throughout the whole process.

What caught Mu Feng's attention was that he hadn't seen Minato Namikaze. Presumably, the opponents Minato Namikaze faced were far more troublesome than those assigned to their squads.

This mission had come suddenly and ended just as quickly.

Once the mission was finally confirmed complete, Mu Feng handed back the fox mask.

"You performed well. If you pass the Chunin assessment, you can join the Anbu!"

As he was leaving, the Anbu ninja in charge spoke to Mu Feng.

From the beginning, Mu Feng had understood that this mission was most likely laying the groundwork for recruiting him into the Anbu later.

Deep down, Mu Feng was quite curious about Konoha's Anbu, but he also felt some resistance.

The biggest reason for that resistance was his identity as an Uchiha. Mu Feng didn't want to become a traitor like Itachi, who claimed to act for the village while turning his blade on his own clansmen.

Apart from that, however, being a member of the Anbu did have certain advantages.

First, Mu Feng would be able to meet more people and gain more opportunities to fight, perhaps even getting the chance to face powerful opponents.

For instance, in the battle just now, Mu Feng had earned an additional 100 blackening points after defeating the Kirigakure Jonin.

Mu Feng returned home and rested for a while before he finally heard the system notification.

[Ding! Hidden mission 'Chunin Ninja Exams-Shatter Illusions' completed!] [Calculating final results...] [Your final rating is A.] [You have obtained the Flying Thunder God Technique (requires instruction from Minato Namikaze)!] [You have obtained 1,300 blackening points!] [You have obtained random secret technique scroll ×1!]

The system had finished calculating his rewards, which also proved that Konoha had emerged victorious in tonight's operation.

With Mu Feng's current experience and performance, however, what happened afterward probably wouldn't have much to do with him. After all, he was still just a child!

"Just as I thought. I'll still have to learn the Flying Thunder God Technique myself!"

Staring at the system notification, Mu Feng was somewhat speechless.

Then he turned his attention to the blackening points and the random secret technique scroll.

Earning 1,300 blackening points from a single mission made Mu Feng feel as though he'd struck it rich. More importantly, those 1,300 points brought his total to 3,400, enough to redeem the Demon Blade Muramasa he had coveted for so long.

Ever since Mu Feng had "stolen" Hozuki Mangetsu's Swordsmanship skill, he had wanted a ninja blade. Still, the price of 3,000 blackening points stung.

After a little thought, Mu Feng finally made up his mind, gritted his teeth, and redeemed the Demon Blade Muramasa.

Being rich or broke is temporary, but looking cool lasts a lifetime!

[You have redeemed Ninja Blade: Demon Blade Muramasa, consuming 3,000 blackening points.]

After the system notification sounded, a black vortex appeared before Mu Feng. At the same time, a sword hilt wrapped in purple cloth slowly emerged from it.

Without much thought, Mu Feng grabbed the hilt and pulled it out.

Mu Feng carefully examined the blade in his hand. It had a black sheath, a purple grip, and a slight curve. In appearance alone, it put many decorative swords to shame.

Once it was in his hand, Mu Feng could feel its heft, but the weight was just right. It felt comfortable to hold.

With a crisp metallic ring, Mu Feng held the sheath horizontally and drew the blade. A black-purple and white ninja blade appeared before his eyes.

It was a single-edged sword. The body of the blade was black-purple, while its white edge gleamed coldly, looking exceptionally sharp.

A regular wave pattern marked the boundary between the blade's body and its edge, giving the whole sword a more flowing appearance.

As he gazed at the ninja blade, Mu Feng felt increasingly pleased. Then he gave it a few forceful swings.

Before long, however, Mu Feng discovered something he wasn't entirely happy with: the ninja blade was a little too long for his current height. For an adult, though, its length would probably be just right.

Still, after mastering Hozuki Mangetsu's Swordsmanship, such a minor obstacle hardly amounted to anything for Mu Feng.

After a short practice session, Mu Feng soon got the hang of wielding the Demon Blade Muramasa. At the very least, it felt much more natural in his hands.

Next, however, Mu Feng needed to test the blade's performance and see whether this ninja blade was truly worth the 3,000 blackening points he had spent.

"Don't let me down, or I'll have taken a huge loss!"

Mu Feng spoke as he gently stroked the Demon Blade Muramasa.

The next moment, Mu Feng straightened, held the Demon Blade Muramasa in a forward grip, and began drawing on the chakra within his body.
