Background / History

Rivalry with Di Tian

Xiong Jun had wounded Di Tian with Sky-Rending Claw before meeting Zeng Tian, although Di Tian punished him afterward. He repeatedly opposed Di Tian’s decisions, including his approach to humans. His strength also far exceeded the Scarlet King’s: the Scarlet King had been unable to defeat him even when Xiong Jun possessed only 100,000 years of cultivation 14 15 39 40.

Di Tian later identified Xiong Jun’s Behemoth Giant ancestry as one influence behind his refusal to submit. Behemoth Giants were enemies of True Dragons, possessed comparably powerful bloodlines, and had once fed on dragons 45.

Challenge to Zeng Tian

At the Ferocious Beasts’ gathering, Xiong Jun objected to the young Zeng Tian’s presence and accused him of relying on the Scarlet King’s patronage. Di Tian ended the confrontation by confirming that he had personally invited Zeng Tian 36 37.

After hearing that Zeng Tian could fight at the level of a 300,000-year Ferocious Beast, Xiong Jun challenged him to survive fifteen minutes against him. He promised to acknowledge Zeng Tian as Di Tian’s successor if he succeeded. They chose a battlefield ten li east of the Lake of Life to avoid damaging it 39.

The Three-Eyed Golden Lion warned that Xiong Jun could lose restraint and use Sky-Rending Claw. He dismissed the concern, insisting that he would not need his strongest technique against such a junior 39 40.

Bloodline Awakening and Near-Fatal Spar

Xiong Jun initially overwhelmed Zeng Tian’s attacks with raw strength, but could not catch him once Flame Charge increased his speed. Zeng Tian’s repeated attacks caused mostly superficial injuries, yet the public humiliation enraged Xiong Jun. He escalated to barrages of Dark Gold Dreadclaws, which Zeng Tian reflected with Counter Punch Shield 41 42 43.

His Behemoth Giant bloodline then awakened further, clouding his mind. He unleashed Sky-Rending Claw, pierced Zeng Tian’s defenses, and nearly killed him. Di Tian destroyed the weakened attack and restrained Xiong Jun with Dragon God Claw, but Xiong Jun continued struggling without answering him 43 44 45.

Zeng Tian’s resulting Mega Charizard X transformation reversed the situation. While Xiong Jun was restrained, Zeng Tian struck him with Flare Blitz and Dragon Tail, inflicting severe wounds and persistent Azure Flame burns. The pain restored Xiong Jun’s reason; Zeng Tian collapsed before delivering another attack 46.

Di Tian placed Xiong Jun’s fate in Zeng Tian’s hands. After Bi Ji pleaded for mercy, Zeng Tian spared him in exchange for a promise not to refuse future requests. Zeng Tian removed the flames, Bi Ji healed most of his injuries, and Xiong Jun accepted responsibility for the incident 47 48.

Regular Sparring Partner

Zeng Tian subsequently used Xiong Jun as a stronger training opponent than the Scarlet King. Their repeated bouts benefited both of them: Xiong Jun’s awakened bloodline greatly increased his strength, while Zeng Tian’s techniques gave him new inspiration for improving Sky-Rending Claw 48 52 58.

Zeng Tian tested Dragon Fire on him, forcing him to concede and confirming that its burn halved his physical damage. Xiong Jun asked that the technique be excluded from future spars. He also answered Zeng Tian’s questions about soul cores before directing him to Di Tian for deeper instruction 53 54 55.

As Zeng Tian continued improving, Xiong Jun ceased to provide much pressure without Sky-Rending Claw. By the time of Zeng Tian’s battle with Mu En, the Scarlet King considered Mega Charizard X stronger than Xiong Jun. Zeng Tian later assessed Mu En as slightly stronger than Xiong Jun, but believed a fight to the death would likely kill both 58 88 93.

Appearance

• True form: A Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear standing over fifteen meters tall, with massive, hill-like muscles 40.
• Forelimbs and claws: Forelimbs over ten meters long; dark-gold light flickers across his claws 40.

Personality

Xiong Jun is proud, confrontational, and acutely sensitive to losing face. He mocks the Scarlet King for failing to defeat Zeng Tian and becomes furious when a much younger opponent resists him before the other Ferocious Beasts. Nevertheless, he enjoys battle and grows genuinely interested when Zeng Tian demonstrates unusual strength or develops new techniques 39 42 52 58.

He distinguishes debts from grudges and treats his word as binding. After regaining control, he admits fault and solemnly promises to repay Zeng Tian. His confidence has limits: the pain of Dragon Fire frightens him enough to retreat, concede, and ask that it not be used again 48 53.

His views on transformation and romance are blunt. He regards restarting cultivation in human form as a refuge for beasts unable to survive heavenly tribulations, preferring to rely on his Behemoth bloodline. He also embarrasses the Auspicious Beast by offering to capture a male for her to mate with, failing to recognize her existing feelings for Zeng Tian 54.

Xiong Jun’s natural physical attributes account for much of his fighting power 41 71.

• Strength: Destroys Zeng Tian’s Fire Blast with a single claw swipe powered purely by physical strength 41.
• Defense: Even his eyelids withstand Windfire Wings. Most of Zeng Tian’s early combinations inflict little more than broken skin 41 42.
• Post-awakening durability: Ferocious Beasts below 500,000 years cannot penetrate his defenses; attacks below Level 98 power are described as largely ineffective 53 93.
• Stamina: Fires dozens of Dark Gold Dreadclaws in succession without visible exhaustion and can recover from Sky-Rending Claw after catching his breath 93.
• Mobility limit: Fast in a direct charge, but lacks agility and cannot keep pace with Zeng Tian’s fully stacked Flame Charge 41 42.

Dark Gold Dreadclaw

His principal Soul Skill projects enormous dark-gold claw blades capable of tearing space 42 71.
