Background

Di Tian is the son of a Dragon King and the patriarch of the Black Dragon Clan. He served as captain of the Dragon God’s personal guard, a background that gives him extensive knowledge of Dragonkind and soul beasts 18 81.

He resides at the Lake of Life and serves the Silver Dragon King, Gu Yuena, whom he recognizes as the sovereign of the Soul Beast Clan. The secluded space used by Di Tian and the other ferocious beasts was created by Gu Yuena, who heals in a separate, more concealed area 49 58.

Despite his title of Beast God, Di Tian does not directly govern every soul beast. The inhabitants of distant regions, including the Far North and the oceans, may answer mobilization calls without submitting to his everyday authority. Humanity’s ability to replace its strongest fighters much faster than soul beasts also limits what he can accomplish through military force alone 38.

Appearance

  • Human form: A handsome, resolute blond man standing three meters tall, with a deep voice and an imposing presence 19.
  • Clothing: Wears black robes during his confrontation with Shrek Academy 68.
  • Eyes: Golden light appears in his eyes when he examines others with his perception 19 55.
  • True form: A Golden-Eyed Black Dragon capable of releasing enormous blasts of black dragon breath 44 68.

Personality

Di Tian is commanding and cautious about whom he entrusts with authority. Before choosing Zeng Tian as his successor, he investigates not only his talent but also his temperament, loyalty, and attitude toward humans. He considers Xiong Jun too reckless, the Myriad Demon King insufficiently powerful, and Bi Ji temperamentally unsuited to leading the Soul Beast Clan 25 33.

He deeply distrusts humans and regards agreements with them as dependent on the deterrence provided by powerful ferocious beasts. Nevertheless, his restraint is strategic rather than absolute: once the forest gains enough strength to defend itself without him, he becomes willing to confront Shrek Academy directly 19 67.

As a mentor, Di Tian is generous and keeps his word. He continues supporting Zeng Tian after learning that his short lifespan makes him an unsuitable long-term successor. His desire to draw out talent can also become dangerous: he allows Zeng Tian’s spar with Xiong Jun to escalate, contributing to his failure to stop Sky-Rending Claw before it strikes 47 55.

Abilities & Skills

Cultivation and Dual Soul Cores

Di Tian possesses yin-yang complementary dual soul cores, with darkness and space as their attributes 55 57 90.

  • His cultivation stands at 890,000 years, but he lacks confidence that he could survive the tenth Heavenly Tribulation required for godhood 50.
  • He understands soul-core formation well enough to guide another beast’s energy circulation, refinement, and compression directly 55 56.
  • His knowledge has limits: Zeng Tian’s core, which combines several kinds of energy without rejection, falls outside the types he recognizes 57.

Dragon God Claw

Dragon God Claw is a divine skill inherited from the Dragon God, manifested as a black dragon claw surrounded by seven-colored light 44 46.

  • Effortlessly crushes Xiong Jun’s Sky-Rending Claw and restrains him afterward 44.
  • Can annihilate an unprotected soul beast in both body and soul; the narration extends this threat even to a 990,000-year soul beast caught in its grasp 46.
  • Divine protection or a divine skill of comparable level can provide a defense against its special effectiveness against soul beasts 46 78.
  • Remains Di Tian’s decisive advantage when assessing whether he could quickly subdue the increasingly powerful Zeng Tian 77.

Dragon Form and Direct Combat

Di Tian combines his dragon body, breath attacks, and overwhelming soul power in battle 44 78.

  • Destroys a Sky-Rending Claw already weakened by Zeng Tian with a full-strength blast of black dragon breath 44.
  • Suppresses the energy-devouring activity of Taotie’s blood with his soul power 78.
  • Cripples Xuan Zi by destroying his dantian, martial soul, and soul core while extracting a trace of Taotie bloodline aura 67.
  • Treats Shrek’s divine defenses as a genuine danger, even though he does not fear Mu En’s unaided strength 88.

Spatial Manipulation

Di Tian can tear open space, create spatial vortices, and use teleportation 20 58 67.

  • Retrieves stored treasures through black spatial portals and travels to Shrek Academy through a rift 20 67.
  • Long-distance spatial teleportation requires an anchor carrying a usable aura and coordinates. It takes time and fails if the anchor disappears before completion 59.
  • Short-range teleportation is suitable for combat, but its energy cost makes repeated use impractical for long-distance travel 59.
  • Cannot independently create a separate space; the hidden space beneath the Lake of Life is Gu Yuena’s work 58.

Spiritual Perception

Di Tian uses powerful spiritual perception to examine bodies, bloodlines, and internal energy 19 55.

  • Recognizes that Zeng Tian’s physical structure differs fundamentally from ordinary soul beasts and suggests that he may not belong to their world 19.
  • Detects hidden injuries and checks for the presence of a soul core 20 55.
  • Senses Zeng Tian’s distant battle with Mu En 88.
  • Does not specialize in mental power; he acknowledges that the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm’s total mental power may exceed his own 56.

Illusion Transformation Secret Art

Di Tian knows an illusion art that allows Zeng Tian to assume a human-looking appearance without the cultivation normally required for a ferocious beast’s natural transformation 81.

  • Conceals unusual features from ordinary humans and low-level Soul Masters 81.
  • Cannot reliably deceive expert Soul Masters 81.
  • Is transmitted directly into Zeng Tian’s Sea of Consciousness 81.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Discovering and Selecting Zeng Tian

  • Initial appraisal: The Scarlet King brings Zeng Tian to the Lake of Life because he cannot identify his species. Di Tian also finds his body unfamiliar, but approves his companionship with the Auspicious Beast 18 19.
  • Early support: Di Tian gives him Ten-Thousand-Year Dragon Blood Grass and a Ten-Thousand-Year Dragon Scale Fruit, then recommends using the Lake of Life to treat hidden injuries 19 20.
  • Successor assessment: After learning that Zeng Tian can fight at the hundred-thousand-year level with no more than five thousand years of cultivation, Di Tian orders the Scarlet King to observe his character 25.
  • Formal appointment: He names Zeng Tian his successor at a gathering of ferocious beasts and assigns him a role in managing soul beast affairs. He defends the choice by citing Zeng Tian’s cultivation speed, self-created skills, and ferocious-beast-level combat strength 38.

Xiong Jun’s Rampage and Gu Yuena’s Awakening

  • Di Tian initially allows Zeng Tian and Xiong Jun to continue fighting to reveal more of Zeng Tian’s potential. When Xiong Jun loses control and uses Sky-Rending Claw, Di Tian intervenes but cannot prevent the initial blow 43 44 47.
  • He destroys Xiong Jun’s next attack with Dragon God Claw and restrains him. After Zeng Tian’s transformed retaliation, Di Tian places the decision to spare or kill Xiong Jun in Zeng Tian’s hands 44 46 47.
  • The fighting awakens Gu Yuena. Di Tian presents his chosen successor, only to learn that Zeng Tian is less than ten years old and has a lifespan of only a few hundred years, potentially reaching a thousand at most without godhood 49.
  • Rather than withdraw his appointment, Di Tian continues nurturing him as an exceptional future fighting force 55.

Soul-Core Training

  • Di Tian takes Zeng Tian into the hidden space beneath the Lake of Life and personally guides his attempt to condense a soul core 55 56.
  • When insufficient energy prevents completion, he supplies accumulated heavenly treasures. He observes the unusual core accepting Ultimate Fire, Dragonkind power, and life force together 57.
  • Zeng Tian subsequently achieves Mega Evolution and asks to test his strength against him. Di Tian agrees, but a roar interrupts them before their spar begins 58.

Confrontation with Shrek Academy

  • After Xuan Zi threatens the Auspicious Beast, Di Tian prevents his immediate execution, cripples him, and extracts his Taotie bloodline aura 67.
  • He entrusts Zeng Tian with protecting the Auspicious Beast and Lake of Life, then carries Xuan Zi to Shrek Academy 67.
  • At Shrek, he demands that the academy stay out of the Star Dou Great Forest and surrender treasures, soul bones, and pills. Mu En accepts after Di Tian destroys a landmark building and demonstrates that resistance would bring catastrophic losses 69.
  • Di Tian distributes some of the acquired resources to Zeng Tian and the Auspicious Beast. Her storage ring holds fifty cubic meters; Zeng Tian’s share supports further cultivation 73.

Supporting Zeng Tian’s Departure

  • Before Zeng Tian leaves the forest, Di Tian gives him the Taotie blood extracted from Xuan Zi and guards him during refinement 78.
  • He rejects Zi Ji’s claim to the blood, arguing that it offers Zeng Tian a better chance of a fundamental bloodline transformation and eventual godhood 78 79.
  • He teaches Zeng Tian the Illusion Transformation Secret Art to reduce unnecessary conflict during his travels. Zeng Tian gains an initial grasp in only a quarter of an hour, exceeding Di Tian’s estimate of half a day 81 82.
  • When Zeng Tian later fights Mu En, Di Tian tells Bi Ji that Zeng Tian now threatens even him, while warning that Shrek’s divine power remains dangerous 88.

Relationships

  • Gu Yuena — Sovereign and object of profound loyalty. Di Tian reverently addresses her as his lord and places his hopes for the Soul Beast Clan’s future in her 38 49.
  • Zeng Tian — Chosen successor and protégé. Di Tian supplies resources, cultivation instruction, and protection, eventually recognizing him as a potential god and a threat to his own strength 38 55 79 88.
  • Scarlet King — Trusted subordinate responsible for observing Zeng Tian and guarding the Auspicious Beast. Di Tian praises his improved strength and sees the potential for him to become a great general 19 25 32.
  • Di Rui’er / Three-Eyed Golden Lion — The Emperor Auspicious Beast under his protection. Her safety is central to his restrictions on travel and his retaliation against Shrek 19 67 69 100.
  • Xiong Jun — Powerful but insubordinate subordinate. Di Tian considers him unfit to lead and nearly kills him after his berserk attack on Zeng Tian 25 44.
  • Bi Ji — Fellow ferocious beast who shows tenderness toward him. She discusses Zeng Tian’s safety with Di Tian, but he considers her temperament unsuitable for leadership 25 36 88.
  • Zi Ji — Fellow dragon and subordinate who resents being passed over as successor. Di Tian prioritizes Zeng Tian’s development over her request for Taotie’s blood 38 78.
  • Mu En — Human opponent whose ability Di Tian respects, particularly when supported by Shrek’s divine power 69 88.
  • Xuan Zi — Enemy punished for threatening the Auspicious Beast. Di Tian permanently cripples him and uses his return to Shrek to demand compensation 67 69.
