Appearance
- Human form: An alluring woman with long violet-black hair and purple, slit-pupiled dragon eyes 1.
- Concealable dragon features: Can display miniature physical horns, illusory horns, or hide them completely. Her claws, scales, tail, wings, and horns can manifest while she remains in human form 8.
- True form: A winged Hell Demon Dragon King large enough to carry Jin Jiuxiao, Bi Ji, and Xiong Jun together. During battle, her spread wings are described as blotting out the sky and sun 25 30.
Personality
Zi JI is playful, openly affectionate, and fond of teasing Jin Jiuxiao. She initially objects to his decision to enter the human world, but eagerly volunteers to accompany him once the journey is approved. Her affection is longstanding, and she tells him that she does not object to him having other partners 1 3 8.
Despite her teasing manner, she understands the need for restraint outside the forest. She considers herself a better escort than the impulsive Xiong Jun because their mission requires keeping a low profile rather than starting a war. Hearing humans boast about killing soul beasts visibly angers her, but she continues onward after Jin Jiuxiao quietly reminds her to restrain herself 5 7.
Her protectiveness can turn ruthless: she wants Tang Hao eliminated after he threatens Jin Jiuxiao. At the same time, she respects Jin Jiuxiao’s plans and does not insist on knowing the source of his unusual knowledge, explaining that his care for her matters more than his secrets 12 17.
Abilities & Skills
Draconic Physique and Transformation
- Her physical strength far exceeds Bi Ji’s, whose specialty is healing rather than direct combat 1.
- Jin Jiuxiao’s early Electric Discharge cannot faze her 8.
- Can shift between human and dragon forms or partially transform for combat 8 18.
- Her concentrated pure-dragon bloodline is described as no less promising than Di Tian’s in bloodline concentration and potential—not as equal to his current strength 31.
Flight and Aerial Combat
- Provides smooth, long-distance transport between the human world and the Lake of Life 18.
- Carries three companions into the Sunset Forest while searching for the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 30.
- Takes control of the skies during the battle with Tang Hao, cutting off his retreat 25.
Dragon Breath and Devouring Domain
- Dragon Breath: Blasts Tang Hao while Jin Jiuxiao’s Thunder Sacrifice briefly paralyzes him 25.
- Devouring Domain: Unfolds in her true form and overlaps with Xiong Jun’s Dark Gold Domain during their coordinated assault 25.
- Receives additional enhancement from Bi Ji’s Life Domain in the same battle 25.
Sensing and Concealment
- Detects Xiao Wu during their travels and notices a Titled Douluo following her and Jin Jiuxiao 10 11.
- Delivers a discreet warning by condensing her voice into a thread 11.
- Suppresses her ferocious-beast aura near the human border; releases it again over the Star Dou Great Forest, allowing unobstructed travel 7 18.
- Senses a summons beneath the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well that Bi Ji and Xiong Jun cannot perceive. Jin Jiuxiao identifies it as likely dragon-bloodline resonance 31 32.
Poké Ball Contract Benefits
Zi JI’s contract is an equal agreement rather than forced captivity 3.
- Living soul-ring contribution: Supplies Jin Jiuxiao’s Poké Ball martial soul with its first two-hundred-thousand-year ring. Most of its energy strengthens his body, bringing his physical strength to Soul King level, while his soul power reaches level sixteen 3 19.
- Private pocket dimension: Has her own independent space inside the Poké Ball, where she can arrange the scenery 3.
- Recovery: Can return to peak condition after twenty-four hours inside the Poké Ball, provided both she and Jin Jiuxiao remain alive. This supports repeated battles and injury-for-injury tactics 8.
- Voluntary entry: Jin Jiuxiao cannot force a contracted partner into the Poké Ball against their wishes 3.
- Cancellation: Can end the contract whenever she chooses, but doing so would remove Jin Jiuxiao’s ring and its benefits and cause him backlash 3.
- Cultivation freedom: No longer senses the rule-imposed shackle after completing the contract 4.
Background / History
Life at the Lake of Life and First Contract
Zi JI is already one of Jin Jiuxiao’s closest companions when he announces his intention to take human form. She and Bi Ji oppose his departure until Di Tian hears his explanation and permits the journey 1.
After Jin Jiuxiao awakens the Poké Ball martial soul, Zi JI volunteers to test an equal contract across their enormous cultivation gap. She also regards herself as the most suitable escort: Di Tian must remain in the forest, the Myriad Demon King cannot leave, Bi Ji is a healer, and Xiong Jun and the Scarlet King are too impulsive. Her successful contract establishes that a living ferocious beast can provide him with a soul ring 2 3.
Journey to Nuoding City
Di Tian formally assigns Zi JI to accompany Jin Jiuxiao. The pair leave the Lake of Life, travel through human settlements, and eventually rent a quiet courtyard in Nuoding City. While he attends Nuoding Academy, she guards him from the shadows 4 6 10 12 13 17.
Their first confrontation with Tang Hao ends without combat. Zi JI believes she could kill him, but Jin Jiuxiao refuses to act without certainty. She later supports his plan to recover Ah Yin’s seed and prevent Tang San from awakening the Blue Silver Emperor 11 12 17.
After a year, she flies Jin Jiuxiao back to the Lake of Life for his second contract. She recommends Xiong Jun, outwardly because Bi Ji must oversee the forest, while privately hoping to preserve more time alone with Jin Jiuxiao. His rapid advancement makes that delay much shorter than she expects 9 18 19.
Battle with Tang Hao
Zi JI joins Jin Jiuxiao, Bi Ji, and Xiong Jun on the expedition to retrieve Ah Yin. When Tang Hao confronts them, she takes dragon form, deploys her domain, blocks his aerial escape, and strikes him with Dragon Breath during a paralysis opening. Xiong Jun ultimately kills Tang Hao 23 25 26.
After Ah Yin is recovered, Zi JI and Xiong Jun return to the Lake of Life while Jin Jiuxiao and Bi Ji continue to the Blue Silver clan’s ancestral grounds 27.
Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well
Jin Jiuxiao promises Zi JI an opportunity that might raise her cultivation to five or six hundred thousand years. At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, she senses something calling from beneath the pool. Following his instructions, she consumes two opposing immortal herbs and dives into the point where the ice and fire waters meet 12 30 31.
Jin Jiuxiao subsequently explains that the Ice Dragon King’s and Fire Dragon King’s divine remains and souls lie beneath the spring. He expects a major increase if Zi JI gains their recognition, but her emergence and the outcome are not shown 32.
Items
- Octagonal mysterious ice grass — Consumed together with infernal delicate apricot before her descent into the spring 31.
- Infernal delicate apricot — Harvested by Bi Ji and paired with the ice herb; Jin Jiuxiao says the combination will benefit Zi JI and help her venture deeper into the well 31.
Relationships
- Jin Jiuxiao — Longstanding companion, first contract partner, and acknowledged romantic interest. She acts as his protector and trusts him without demanding explanations for his secrets 3 8 12.
- Bi Ji — Fellow ferocious beast and affectionate rival for Jin Jiuxiao’s attention. Zi JI also highly respects her healing and support abilities 8 18 19.
- Di Tian — Recognized leader, whom she addresses as “Beast God.” He authorizes her journey and receives her report about the vanished cultivation shackle 4.
- Xiong Jun — Fellow ferocious beast and combat ally. She considers his temper unsuitable for discreet travel, but believes she would be no weaker than him at equal cultivation 5 25 30.
- Xiao Wu — Fellow soul beast who fears Zi JI has come to take her home. Zi JI has no such intention and believes Xiao Wu must take responsibility for her own choice 10.
- Tang Hao — Enemy who initially avoids fighting her, then later attempts to kill the group for their soul bones. Zi JI participates in his defeat 11 25 26.
