Background / History

Jin Jiuxiao transmigrated to the Douluo Continent as a juvenile Rey rather than a human. Within two days of arriving in the Star Dou Great Forest, he fought and killed a 3,000-year soul beast. Bi Ji witnessed the battle, recognized his unusual intelligence and strength, and brought the exhausted juvenile to the Lake of Life 1.

With Bi Ji’s recommendation, he remained among the ferocious beasts for thousands of years. Bi Ji raised him, while Zi Ji and Xiong Jun also became especially close to him. Di Tian regarded him as a promising future pillar of the Soul Beast Clan 1.

After reaching 100,000 years of cultivation, he identified the setting as the Douluo I era through the Soft Bone Rabbit Emperor’s death and Xiao Wu’s recent humanization. Knowing the future he expected for his adopted family, he decided to enter human society and interfere with Tang San’s rise 1.

To secure Di Tian’s permission, he claimed to have seen the Asura God intercept an otherworldly soul during his reincarnation. The narration explicitly identifies this encounter as a fabrication; his genuine purpose was to prevent his loved ones from becoming casualties or stepping stones in the Tang family’s future 1 14.

Appearance

  • Original Rey form: Golden-yellow coloring and distinctive spiky golden hair 1.
  • Human form: Initially resembles a six-year-old child, retaining blond hair and golden eyes. His hair becomes smooth rather than standing up in spikes 1 8.
  • Rey’s awakened manifestation: Yellow-and-silver armor, broad pauldrons, faint Thunder God patterns on the breastplate, and enormous wings formed from radiant lightning 2.

Personality

Jin Jiuxiao treats the ferocious beasts as family rather than superiors. His loyalty to them drives his opposition to Tang San, even though he initially has no personal grievance against him. He also expresses affection through ordinary gestures, such as bringing pastries home from the human world 14 18 20.

He is cautious, calculating, and unwilling to rely on an uncertain victory. He postpones attempts to kill Tang San because he cannot rule out outside intervention, and waits until he can deploy Zi Ji, Xiong Jun, and Bi Ji together before confronting Tang Hao. He similarly treats his knowledge of the original story as a reference, not an infallible prediction 9 12 15 16.

His approach to cooperation is pragmatic. He uses Xiong Jun’s intimidating strength to ensure the Blue Silver clan relocates, but offers Dugu Bo treatment and opportunities for advancement alongside a demonstration of force. His stated goal is peace between humans and soul beasts through overturning the rules that sustain their conflict 21 22 32 34 36.

Abilities & Skills

Rey Martial Soul

  • Martial Soul Possession: Uses Rey as his combat martial soul, specializing in lightning attacks, speed, and direct offensive power 14 15.
  • Lightning wings: Can form wings and fly independently; he reminds Zi Ji of this ability during their return to the forest 18.
  • Self-condensed rings: Builds Rey’s rings after receiving the physical and soul-power benefits of his Poké Ball contracts 5 19 23 29.
  • Skills beyond ring assignments: Can use familiar techniques such as Thunderbolt and Thunder Shock Beam without assigning each one to a soul ring 6.
  • Further evolution: Rey is described as his base form rather than his strongest possible form. Later martial soul evolution is expected to unlock additional skills, but no such evolution is documented in the provided chapters 5 20 32.

Lightning Techniques

  • Charge: Doubles the power of all his lightning-type skills while active, rather than enhancing only a single subsequent attack 5.
  • Extreme Lightning Thousand Birds / Extreme Lightning Chidori: Creates swarms of lightning birds that strike from multiple directions. At level 16, Xiong Jun judges it capable of instantly killing some poorly defended high-tier Soul Elders, but it cannot penetrate Xiong Jun’s own defenses and is costly relative to Jin Jiuxiao’s early reserves 4 6.
  • Thunder God’s Dawn Flash: A highly destructive single-target technique with close- and long-range release modes. It has a 10% chance to deal quadruple damage; this effect activates during his clash with Dugu Bo 34.
  • Thunder Sacrifice: Paralyzes its target with certainty if it hits. Its effect works on powerful opponents, including Xiong Jun and Tang Hao 19 25 26.
  • Lightning Speed / Wind Rush, Lightning Speed: Rapid movement used to strike Tang San from behind and intercept incoming needles 15 16.
  • Thunderbolt: Tears through Tang San’s Blue Silver Entanglement 15.
  • Electric Discharge: Knocks aside hidden weapons, although at his early cultivation it cannot harm Zi Ji 8 16.
  • Instant Thunder Flash: Demonstrated after changing his second ring’s assigned skill; destroys a boulder 19 20.
  • Vitality Lightning Orb: Has a guaranteed-hit effect and a chance to paralyze. Xiong Jun recommends it as a possible first soul skill 4.

Flexible Soul Skill Assignment

  • Can freely change the skills assigned to his Rey soul rings, as demonstrated by replacing Thunder Sacrifice with Instant Thunder Flash 19 20.
  • Can assign techniques that would otherwise be difficult to use in human form to soul rings for quicker activation 20.
  • The former turn-based restrictions on skill bonuses no longer apply in the same way, allowing sustained enhancements rather than effects limited by game turns 5 20.

Poké Ball Martial Soul

The Poké Ball is a special-type martial soul whose sole soul skill encompasses capture, contract, and summon 2.

  • Capture and contract: Can forcibly capture defeated beings or establish equal contracts with willing partners 2.
  • Ring generation: Cannot accept ordinary attached soul rings. Instead, a contracted being supplies a ring whose age corresponds to its cultivation 2 3.
  • Independent space: Houses contracted spirits in a pocket dimension that Zi Ji describes as a room she can decorate 3.
  • Recovery: Can restore a stored spirit to peak condition after 24 hours, provided both the spirit and Jin Jiuxiao remain alive 2 8.
  • Tribulation exemption: After contracting, Zi Ji can no longer sense the cultivation “shackle” associated with soul-beast tribulations, even when outside the ball 4.
  • Continued growth: Neither capture nor contract restricts a spirit’s future potential 6 23.
  • Contract cancellation: Costs Jin Jiuxiao the corresponding ring and its benefits, and causes backlash 3.
  • Personal limitation: Cannot enter his own Poké Ball and therefore cannot use its recovery effect on himself 8.
  • Unproven possibility: The beasts discuss capturing gods, but no god capture is documented 2 3.

Physical Reinforcement and Soul-Power Refinement

  • Diverts substantial contract-ring energy into strengthening his body and basic attributes rather than maximizing immediate level gains 5 19.
  • Begins compressing and purifying soul power at level 29. His abundant contract energy lets him improve its quality without the leveling slowdown expected for ordinary soul masters 19.
  • Receives Di Tian’s Self-Visualization Method to improve spiritual power 29.
  • Plans to attempt his first soul core while absorbing his fifth ring. Di Tian states that his spiritual power and soul-power quantity are not yet sufficient; no completed soul core is documented 29 30.

Knowledge and Combat Planning

  • Uses knowledge of Tang San’s background, twin martial souls, and otherworldly techniques to identify him as a possible Asura God successor and plan indirect countermeasures 20 25.
  • Knows the location of Ah Yin’s seed and the connection between the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and the fallen Ice and Fire Dragon Kings 23 32.
  • At level 46, unleashes a Dawn Flash that Dugu Bo must counter with both Medusa’s Gaze and his ninth soul skill. This demonstrates a Titled Douluo-level strike, not an established ability to defeat every Titled Douluo 34.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Di Tian’s reverse scale — Activating it with soul power allows Di Tian to tear through space and come to his aid 1.
  • Black ring-shaped storage soul tool — Given by Di Tian for his journey; used to carry supplies and gifts 6 18.
  • Gold soul coins — Supplied generously by Di Tian, allowing him to pay tuition, rent a courtyard, and travel comfortably 12.
  • Detailed map — Purchased before traveling to Nuoding City; also used to direct the expedition to Holy Soul Village 7 9 23.
  • Recovered soul bones — Retrieves Ah Yin’s soul bone and later Tang Hao’s inherited right-arm and left-leg bones. Returns Ah Yin’s bone for her restoration and gives Dugu Bo a 70,000-year bone to contain his toxins 24 26 28 34.
  • Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew — Selects it to improve spiritual power, but postpones absorbing an immortal herb while awaiting Dugu Bo 31 32.

Relationships

  • Bi Ji — Adoptive caretaker who brought him to the Lake of Life and raised him. Becomes his third contracted spirit, providing healing and support; they later express mutual affection 1 23 32.
  • Zi Ji — Close family figure, first contracted spirit, traveling companion, and protector. Openly declares her affection and supports his plans in the human world 1 3 8 12.
  • Xiong Jun — Trusted elder whom he calls “Uncle Xiong,” frequent sparring partner, and second contracted spirit. Supplies intimidation and frontline strength for his operations 1 19 21 25.
  • Di Tian — Protective elder, strategic backer, and cultivation mentor. Grants permission to enter human society, provides emergency protection, and teaches him how to prepare for a soul core 1 20 29.
  • Scarlet King — Longstanding acquaintance among the ferocious beasts and his fourth contracted spirit 1 29.
  • Myriad Demon King — Fellow ferocious beast; suggested by Di Tian as a future helper for Jin Jiuxiao’s first soul-core attempt 1 29.
  • Tang San — Principal rival. Jin Jiuxiao defeats him at Nuoding Academy and seeks to restrict his future growth to protect the Soul Beast Clan 14 16 20.
  • Tang Hao — Initially maintains a temporary nonaggression arrangement with him, but later targets him in a coordinated operation ending in Tang Hao’s death 11 12 24 26.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Rejects his offer of apprenticeship and criticizes his reasoning. Accepts a duel wager that would secure an academy recommendation if he defeats Tang San 13 14.
  • Xiao Wu — Fellow humanized soul beast who addresses him as “Lord Jiuxiao.” He respects her decision to enter human society and warns her about Tang Hao’s interest in her ring and bone 17 18.
  • Ah Yin — Helps recover her seed and soul bone, then supports her restoration as a future pillar of the Soul Beast Clan 24 28 29.
  • Blue Silver King — Cooperates with the relocation and restoration plans, then repays Jin Jiuxiao by helping him reach level 40 21 22 28 29.
  • Dugu Bo — Human subordinate who swears allegiance on his martial soul. Jin Jiuxiao supplies treatment and advancement opportunities, then assigns him intelligence-gathering duties 34 36.
