Of the Pokémon in this house that had already been caught, Regirock was genderless-or rather, free to choose a gender.
If Regirock thought he was male, then he was male.
If he wanted to be female one day, he could change whenever he liked. If political correctness was the goal, Regirock's gender could be "a rock from a thousand years ago."
Corviknight and Squirtle were male, while Meownei and Lucario were female. Lucario was a special case, though, having hatched from an egg.
By Squirtle's reckoning, gender played a major role in Meownei's choice of Pokémon.
"Squirtle, squirtle. (Here, let me explain the household hierarchy to you.)"
Squirtle tossed the towel in his hands onto a chair, then went over to sit cross-legged beside the fire.
"Squirtle. (There's only one human living here. You've seen humans before, right? He's pretty nice. His cooking is hit-or-miss, and he's always pulling out weird things.
Then there's that Meowscarada. She's an incredible fighter. In all my years, I've never seen anyone that strong...)"
Squirtle stopped there. He realized that this Litten idolized Meownei; just hearing about her had perked Litten up considerably.
"Squirtle. (You haven't met Corviknight or Lucario yet. The little one-that's Lucario-I watched her grow up. She's a real workaholic. Corviknight takes things easier and usually lives on the roof.
There's also a big rock in the backyard who likes sleeping...)"
Litten wasn't particularly interested in any of this and even yawned. If her legs hadn't been feeling weak, she would have run into the kitchen long ago.
"Meow..."
"Squirtle? (Bored? Humans have this thing called 'catching.' In theory, all the Pokémon staying in this house have been caught. Meowscarada raised the little one herself, so she probably treats her like her own child.
Guess why everyone else is male, apart
