Just then, Xiao Yan spotted a photograph of Kaiser and a Dratini hanging on the wall. (Xiao Yan currently had ten Pokémon in total: Charizard, Arceus, Ho-Oh, Entei, Dragonite, Riolu, Squirtle, Gyarados, Umbreon, and Pikachu. Competing in the League tournament might be a little tough, so he had come to the Wild Area to catch Pokémon.)
A plane arrived in Pallet Town, and a little girl with eyes full of anticipation and excitement skipped into Professor Oak's Laboratory.
"Professor Oak, I'm the new Trainer scheduled to come today. I'm here to choose my Pokémon."

"Oh! You're the new Trainer who was coming today! Come, here are three starter Pokémon. Choose one to be your partner."
Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur stood before Xiao Lan, each hoping to be chosen.
"I choose Charmander." Without hesitation, Xiao Lan stepped forward and picked up the little orange-red dragon, making him her partner for the journey ahead.
This is the Pokémon Wild Area. Battles are forbidden here. If I get into a battle, I'll have to say goodbye to this world. The Poké Ball landed on the ground, shook a few times, then stopped.
"Yes! I've got all three Kanto starter Pokémon!" Xiao Yan glanced nervously around, terrified that Kaiser might have seen the battle.
"I'm not done yet! I'm going to catch tons and tons of Pokémon!"
Xiao Yan ran excitedly across the grassland, and the Pokémon living in the Wild Area all gave the little boy strange looks.
